WV mountain gobbler - the importance of knowing when to SHUT UP
Спорт
Join me in the hills of West Virginia on an absolutely beautiful morning as I try to get on a mountain gobbler. After a fairly slow start, I finally hear a bird gobble late-morning on the back side of the ridge! This turkey just can't stand it when I shut up on him!

Congratulations Chad on a great segment! Self-filming a hunt is one of the most difficult things to do correctly as a Cinematographer. Just setting up and preparing correct camera angles with your other small cameras is so difficult. Filming all the action as the bird approaches keeping him in view with your main camera is a daunting task. Getting that gun up and making the shot with a bird who`s eyesight is second to none. in detecting even the slightest movement is amazing! Well done again Chad.

Thanks Denny!
Only a Turkey hunter can understand the feeling!
I agree some days I don’t even go out until mid morning
A wonderful hunt and a spectacular spring morning. Loved listening to the birds, Nuthatch, Pileated Woodpecker, Vireos, etc., chipmunks...hard to beat that morning, but you did with icing on the cake: a great majestic Mountain monarch of WV.

Glad to hear someone appreciates that stuff. Thanks for watching (& listening) Scott!
Great segment of you paying homage to the bird and honoring it.
Outstanding!
I can't put into words the effort you put into this hunting video.beyond professional in my opinion.i felt like I was the one doing the hunting instead of you.also the respect for the turkey itself and the appreciation you had for it.well done, well done.

Dang brother, you definitely had a better year than we did in Ohio. Dont know exactly why, only theories, our population is WAY down. The first week I only heard 1 bird gobble at daybreak, 1 time and it was way the hell out there. You definitely put in way more time then me, but man, 2022 was my most frustrating Turkey hunting in 20+ years. Although, I have been hearing from people all over the midwest that they too had a terrible year. Good luck in 2023. I will be watching!!

I know all about it. Trust me. I only got on birds once the first week I hunted. Things went a little better for me after that. I wouldn't exactly say I lit the world on fire. Things have been tough for a few years. But I will say this...I feel like we had a decent hatch this past spring! So fingers crossed, they will start making a comeback!🤞
Good hunt! Gobble Gobble
That video was worth the wait. Awesome footage once again. Patience and persistance paid off for you big that time. I always wonder when you are going to find that right time to get the gun ready. You did it with ease and he didnt have a clue you were there. Congrats once again Chad.

Another great video Chad. Nothing as exciting as playing the waiting game while a big Tom gobbles his head off while slowly coming in. Just what I needed to fire me up for spring, after getting 3” of snow last night. Keep the videos coming. Another 3 months until the season opens up here in snowy Connecticut. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome Video Chad,, By Far The BEST TURKEY VIDEOS OUT THERE!!! Love how you poured it on him , then backed off and basically tight lipped him… I honestly thought between that gray squirrel and the chipmunks,, I was gonna see a silent one come into frame frm your left… You bust your ass and deserve everyone you harvest;; that videoing isn’t easy,,by no stretch!!!! Very Deserving Congrats Brotha!!!! BEAUTIFUL GOBBLER, hard to believe they come from an egg👍👍👍🙏

That was an awesome hunt , what a beautiful day . I shot my last three toms between 10 and 12 . Your calling is excellent, I been using Woodhaven mouth calls the last few years , what call are you using,I’d like to get one . Thanks for a great video 🇺🇸👍🏼

Normally, if you find a bird gobbling on his own after 10 o'clock, he's in trouble. Thanks Ralph! I build my own yelpers. But I also run some Gulvas calls as well. Thanks for watching!

If you don’t mind me asking where did you get the camo that you hide your camera with? I just started making a few KZread videos and I’d love to try and film some of my turkey hunts.

Thanks Joe! Ended up being more like 35 yards. Just looked farther, being downhill. Gun patterns well. It's a Winchester SXP 20 gauge topped with a Vortex venom & Indian Creek .555 choke. I shoot TSS #9 loads. It puts over 500 pellets in a 20" circle at 40 yards!
What a awesome hunt and what a beautiful place to kill a turkey. That was good stuff
