Peter Robinson was interviewing on behalf of the Hoover Institution, which is an independent conservative think tank that operates more akin to a talk show that an interrogative format for its interviews. None of the interviews Peter Robinson does are structured like traditional interviews (Interviewer is trying to present the interviewee in the worst possible light), his interviews are much more relaxed. I recommend watching his interviews with Thomas Sowell and Milton Friedman for evidence that this isn't an exception to his typical behaviour on interviews. Don't blame the interviewer, he's just doing what his program aims to do (Give an opportunity for the other party to give their opinions and outlook); blame Murdoch for staying away from the deeper waters of interviewing.

Rupert Murdoch is not to blame solely for the problems in this world. he is one piece of the puzzle, and a product of his environment. equally to blame are everyone who is not curious - who does not seek to know more about their society, where the money is coming from, where it goes. everyone who is sensationalist, who does not question, who becomes obsessed with celebrities. they give Rupert Murdoch power, and in return he takes it away from those same people, from positive construction, from society, and feeds it back into big business, and especially back into his own pocket. the whole system is f****d.

Right now he is blocking my kids from high school diplomas drivers license and today a social security card. I’m not in politics and have nothing to show for harassment which comes from people talking behind my back to those across the world. He says his money protects him and if our government allows it then anything could happen, but I didn’t give my permission to be used by anyone especially him.

The error in his model is the error of neoliberalism more broadly. He believes that giving people choice means they will select what is best for themselves. If you ask a child if they want chocolate or a maths lesson at school, you know the result. Adults are not entirely different. We want a rich experience, but we know we will succumb to preferring a horror movie over a deeper film, we act on impulse. Murdoch exploits this impulse, destroys society, whilst cheering that he is giving people what is best for society. No Murdoch. Let the interviewer say: "Mr. Murdoch, I would like to propose that we regulate access to your media and replace it with state funded education and inspired works of art, rather than the drug-like impulse and cash spinning adverts. Neoliberalism is not the answer for society, and if you cannot express that, it will need to be forced upon you by the public."

Very interesting interview with regard to the latest developments and the sale of 20thFox to Disney. Will this become a new powerhouse to balance political tone stance of todays Hollywood contents ? Or just to use the proceeds and reinvest this more on the newsCorp side of its activities? Sky is part of the deal!
