So Tesla definitely did not invent the light bulb. next your going to say he invented AC current, as well ! there were roughly 20 men working on making a usable light bulb in homes at the same time Thomas Edison was and he happened to create not only a way for the light bulb to work efficiently but also a way to mass produce it. So yes I do give him the credit for the modern lightbulb.

The Edison team that Latimer was a part of, were the first to patent the incandescent bulb, but the use of carbon arcs as electrical lighting was used 3 years before the patent in large stores and some towns. Latimer was awesome but he certainly didn't invent the light bulb exclusively. He was part of a team that was developing and improving on other non patented inventions at the time. The 'black man invented the light bulb and the white man stole it" is just racist bile and if Latimer were alive he would tell you to pull your head in and get an education like his and perhaps be a ground breaker like he was. He would roll in his grave knowing that so many black men are forgoing their education by holding onto this racist idea instead of sticking it to 'the man' like he did! "The white man stole it!" Several people were working on lightbulbs. No one stole anything. Edison invented the practical lightbulb.

Joseph Swan invented the light bulb. Thomas Edison was a brilliant businessman who avoided being sued over his use of Swan's brilliant invention, by going into business with him. Essentially Edison was a clever thief. He is accredited with inventing the word "hello".

+David Clark If they had said electricity, they also would have been incorrect. The answer I was hoping for, that is correct, is direct current electricity, or DC electricity. Alternating current was invented by Westinghouse.

Fropuf Electricity is not an invention. Electricity exists whether humans exists or not. Michael Faraday put Electricity to industrial use.
