Very helpful, thank you. I’m not at the point of my thesis yet - only a social psych essay - but your points about focusing my research question and constructing new knowledge/identifying gaps through critical analysis are incredibly valuable.

@@GetPsyched which is already available. For example: If I have certain topic and I've collected some researches or evidence based studies on it and put them together to form a new conclusion without collecting any primary data (such as experimenting or doing survey or anything related). Will it work as dissertation?

@@soothsayer4851 It would really depend on the requirements of your university. If they expected you to actually conduct research, then no this would not suffice. However, if they were happy for you to do a scoping lit review or a systematic review, then this would be appropriate. Does that help?
