💬 LESSON DESCRIPTION:
In this video, I walk through writing a song from scratch using the I, IV, and V chords - the three major chords in a major key.
Writing melodies for a song with simple harmony is a fun exercise.
In the video, I go through three steps:
1. Create a song form
2. Write chord progressions for each section
3. Write melodies for each section
You’ll get to see how just three chords can be arranged for different emotional effects, and you’ll pick up some melody-writing techniques you can apply to your own compositions.
By the end, we’ll have a full song harmonically and melodically.
I hope you enjoy the lesson and find it beneficial!
Let me know what you thought in the comments.
Thanks! :)
- Jared

Hi Jared, have you noticed a difference in what time you practice new/challenging material impacts learning? Say morning, midday night? In our different brain states theta alpha? Thankyou 😎🪐
Jared I will recommend your site, already in my bookmarks 😊 ty so much easy to follow ( most of this I know already) but so too many more specific takeaways

Thanks so much! Glad the lessons are helpful :)
Hello Jared- I've always treated the CAPO as a tool that was mainly useful to deal with the limits of a singer's voice. Do you see it also as a way to improve guitar voice for a given song?
Which thump pick do you use
Don't refer to anything but the shapes in the lesson (having mentioned the absolute key), it serves no purpose to keep referring to both.
