The most interesting thing is that no writer picks Caleb Williams and the Bears to win the Super Bowl during Caleb Williams rookie contract.

This segment made me think of the difference between Shiela and her dad, WCF, as owners. Polar opposites. The old man had no feel for the game or picking head coaches and general managers. He was way too loyal to underperforming individuals in key positions. Russ Thomas was incredibly cheap and the old man did nothing to fix it. He could not recognize incompetence because he was incompetent. Sheila understood what she didn't know and learned the business of the NFL. She listened to the right people, like Chris Spielman, to rebuild the team. As much as I like Dan Campbell, her greatest move was hiring Brad Holmes, a candidate the old man would never have considered. Let's hope it all pays off for the team and the fans. Go Lions!

Right now I'd say the Lions have a three-year window. After that salary cap issues and guys moving on will likely force them into a retool, one most likely with someone else at QB. Goff will be moving into the final year of his deal and pushing 34. St. Brown, provided he stays healthy, can be in line for a third contract, same goes for Sewell, but it's hard to predict where guys like Branch Joseph, and Gibbs may be at that point. La Porta will need to get paid, Hutch will need to get paid, and I can't see Rags going much past his current deal if he does at all. That's why I say it's a three-year window. And picking the Chiefs is lazy. They caught a break when the Ravens crapped the bed and that SB performance last year was hardly something to hang your hat on. Both teams looked like teams the Lions most likely would have beaten and I hope they feel that way too, that it burns in em. I don't see any reason they can't win this season or next. As for Billy Jr., he didn't pick to stay with the Ford Motor Company. He was left out of anything having to do with the team when the old man died. You could tell from his reaction when questioned about the team that he didn't like it either. But Martha knew her kid would have been a complete bust so she went with Sheila who wanted in dating back to the 70s when she was trying to get a job with the league, but her old man was so inept he couldn't even use his influence there.

Retooling assumes BH suddenly loses his drafting capabilities and hasnt been restocking the coffers correctly.

@@robertkurtz6691 I used the term retooling simply for lack of another term. You're right, it could be the cupboards continue to get restocked but based on the fact they should be drafting later for the next few years it will be difficult to replicate a draft like last year, which I believe people will look back at and say that was the one that pushed them from being good to being great. They'll continue to be good, but if they are working in a new QB in four years and aren't able to keep all the core guys beyond their extensions, a bit of retooling will be required. But it won't be a rebuild. I can't see them falling that hard as long as Holmes and Coach are here.

She wanted it? No they needed it... They have had a loyal fan base for the past 60 years that they've fleeced by being able to sell out and collect their NFL paycheck. Don't be so simple... It's a business like selling cars.

I think it was a little of both, she wanted a job in the NFL right out of college but they told her that there was no place for a woman, now she’s an owner and has turned around the worst franchise in all professional sports 😊
