Writer V. Vijayendra Prasad Memories Behind Bahubali Movie Making | Cut Chesthe #06 | Film Tree
Baahubali: The Beginning is a 2015 Indian Telugu-language epic action film co-written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli, and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under Arka Media Works. The film was produced in Tollywood and was filmed in both Telugu and Tamil languages simultaneously. It features Prabhas in a dual role alongside Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. The first of two cinematic parts, the film follows Sivudu, an adventurous young man who helps his love Avantika rescue Devasena, the former queen of Mahishmati who is now a prisoner under the tyrannical rule of king Bhallaladeva. The story concludes in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
The film's story was written by Rajamouli's father V. Vijayendra Prasad, who randomly told him a story about Sivagami, a woman who carries a baby in her hand while crossing a river, and a few years later about Kattappa, which intrigued Rajamouli. His fascination with Mahabharata and the tales of Amar Chitra Katha and Chandamama further fuelled his interest in the story. However, it took the writers three months to complete the final draft. The soundtrack and background score were composed by M. M. Keeravani, while the cinematography, production design, and VFX were handled by K. K. Senthil Kumar, Sabu Cyril and V. Srinivas Mohan respectively.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language epic action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the film with V. Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. The film was produced in Tollywood, the centre of Telugu language films in India,[a] and was filmed in both Telugu and Tamil languages simultaneously. It features Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, Nassar, and Subbaraju. The second cinematic part in the Baahubali franchise, it is the follow-up to Baahubali: The Beginning, serving as both a sequel and a prequel.[14] The film is set in medieval India and follows the sibling rivalry between Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva; the latter conspires against the former and has him killed by Kattappa. Years later, Amarendra's son returns to avenge his death.
The film was made on an estimated budget of ₹250 crore ($37 million)[b] and was the most expensive Indian film ever made at the time. The production was launched on 17 December 2015 at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The cinematography was done by K. K. Senthil Kumar, and was edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The production design was done by Sabu Cyril, while the action sequences were choreographed by Peter Hein. The visual effects were designed by R. Kamalakannan, with assistance from Adel Adili and Pete Draper. The soundtrack and the background music were composed by M. M. Keeravani. Baahubali 2 was released on 28 April 2017 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam version and later dubbed in Japanese, Russian and Chinese. Released in conventional 2D and IMAX formats, Baahubali 2 was the first Telugu film to also release in 4K High Definition format.
Grossing ₹1,737.68 crore - ₹1,810.60 crore worldwide ($280.7 million),[b] the film surpassed PK (2014) to briefly become the highest grossing Indian film of all time, collecting approximately ₹789 crore worldwide within just six days of its release.

I think 3RRR is SSR's finest film. He balanced all elements and toned down on high sentiments which were staple for SSR movies. RRR is a great example on how to make an Indian movie for International audiences.

But Still RRR is not SSR best works Compared to the Bahubali Series Because we can see Bahubali many times but not RRR because on repeats many told they used to skip scenes while watching RRR but in Bahubali that is not the scenario.. Every Sequence is Extraordinary in the entire two parts of Bahubali !!

@@tpavankumar7711 RRR is SSR's finest work. It might not be best for some but it is his strongest film in-terms of everything from storytelling, characterisations, themes, score, songs, cinematography, time management, set pieces etc. Baahubali is a classic, Indians love it regardless of anything as it is culturally very close to Indians. Baahubali should not be compared to RRR. RRR is a great standalone film. Also repeat value doesn’t determine the quality of a film. RRR has everything in precision, even the songs are part of developing the story, there are no unnecessary themes. Though Baahubali is close to every Indian, RRR is SSR's finest work - it is on par with International studio movies. We have to be glad that Rajamouli is constantly evolving with every film to ultimately make his dream project Mahabharata someday.

Dear genius, the concept of cinema itself is make believe. If you don't like action movies, there are millions of so called "realistic" boring crap out there for your consumption. Nobodyis forcing you to watch RRR. Cinema is meant to be over the top and exaggerated for a universal appeal. Some parts need to be dumbed down to cater to all sections of society and all maturity levels. That's why Indian cinema is successful because it caters to all sections of the society. Hollywood reached all corners of the planet because of larger than life movies which have universal appeal. People go to films not to see the same boring realistic life but to escape into a new world. Don't come to a south indian restaurant expecting italian food, that's your problem not theirs. Also it's gravity defying, not defining.

RRR is SSR's best till date. The movie does everything that is necessary. The larger than life action part was already clear with the trailer. So it would be wrong to complain about that.
