For an index I like the spot Hogg wise guy. Thanks for the video.

I switched to the wise guy last year and it's hands down been my favorite release I've ever used.

Best for sure. Non command shooters don't like how hot it is.. I also like that the release folds out of the way.. Hate danglers..

Same here. I’ve used it for about 9 years now Super reliable release
I shoot the stan solex. Very good wrist release. I shoot back tension with it. The travel is none so like a brick then it breaks. love it

I have one to. Best index I've ever shot
Started watching your content pretty recently. Liking everything!
Just purchased my 2024/2025 California Deer tag as well as my Black Bear tag, super stoked. Thanks for the great videos!
The tab on the Solex is designed like that to keep the strap retained in the buckle. It allows the shooter to put the release on with one hand, essentially. Trufire has a similar design, and I love it on my Hardcore Max.
Very informative!
Stan soleX is my go to.
I have the Carter Like Mike 2 and love it. It’s a quality product. It will be on my wrist this Fall for my elk hunt.
Hey Dan, nice video man! Maybe you did not have one handy when making this video but the Rx1 from Carter is a nice one too. I will use it this year. You can adjust trigger travel and tension and it also has a very clean break when pulling through the shot.
I was shooting with a trophy ridge, super comfy but once I switched to a wise guy my group got tighter. I think it was because I felt more comfortable and was more adjustable to fit me better.
Good choice selections
Carter Quickie Plus . A great hunting release for me the last 15 years. I’ve been trying the Solex and it’s so clean crisp on the break. There’s no feel of drag or friction because of the internal sear design. Can be set zero travel and whatever tension. I set the tension just enough so I can preload my index some without fear of it breaking. For $99 can’t be beat. IMO

Quickie Plus is my current favorite. Used one for a few years before going to Wise Choice and A couple other thumb buttons but handhelds end up aggravating my elbow tendons somehow. Tried several index releases before ending up back at a Quickie Plus. But they are now closer to $140 or so. Still very reasonable compared to other releases.
Wizard info ma broski !!
I have rocked Carter, Trueball, Scott. All great choices. Love the wrist strap for hunting its always on you and quick to hook up
Scott verge is my go to
Adjust both screws in on the S2 get some tension on the trigger, it’s a sweet little release, you’ll like it a bunch more.
TruBall short-n-sweet. I used to shoot the original version with the loop on the release instead of the string. The new version doesn't have that option but has a 3 position adjustable trigger sweep as well as travel/tension adjustment. I'm interested in the Stan solex as well.
I've been using the TRU Ball Centerline. It's a little different shape than most and easier to sit 'back' in your hand allowing the finger to wrap around the trigger.
Where’s the STAN SoleX?
I recently switched from a 25 year old fletch hunter index to w Stan Axis and love it.
That was a cool intro with all the releases going off
Hey Brother. That's one heck of a collection. I was shooting a TruFire Smoke Max, but couldn't get it to adjust short enough to get my 2nd knuckle on it. So, I switched, and right now, I'm using a Scott Echo. And I also don't like the design of the strap end. I understand the concept, I just don't think it's necessary. Now to get another one for a backup. #Elkshape #ABT
Great job and awesome video as always! Will you do a review of the Spot Hogg Keeton? Thanks
Something most KZread content makers won’t say is “ don’t buy a barrel or tube design trigger “ release. IMO they fit very few people’s hand size in that the length adjustment is limited. It can’t be shortened enough for proper setup. Which, IMO, is being able to deeply hook the index finger over the trigger to the joint closet to the palm. So many using those releases use the finger tip to activate BECAUSE it CAN NOT be made to fit the hand. Very very few have the ability to use one without becoming a “ puncher” and developing target panic.
I like the Scott S2, tension is maxed out. Been playing with the Wiseguy, end up removing the tension screw to max it out. Good review Dan!
The B3 hawk looks pretty cool, might check that one out
Waiting for my Stan onnex thumb button clicker to come!
“So you can narrow down your options and punch your trigg…I mean tag this season” 😂
I love my B3 Hawk Pro!!!
Great run thru of these releases. How would the Scoot Solus compare to the Carter too simple when it comes to draw length? I have a short draw of 27” and wouldn’t want to give up any length with the Solus. I’m currently using the too simple but would like to try a Solus out.
Should of stuck a Stan Solex in there!!
The B3 Hawk is great. I had some target panic issues with my old wiseguy and used the Hawk with a heavy spring to help break it. I was afraid to wrap my knuckle around it and ended up just slapping the thing.
Like Mike 2 for me
I just got a spot hogg wiseguy. It's awesome!
Can you talk about your comment about pulling through a thumb button release instead of using thumb movement to fire it, considering Joel Turners advice with the new Stan Onnex click to use "single digit manipulation" to fire the shot. He talks about how pulling to fire or rolling a hinge to fire is more complex than single digit manipulation. He is clearly promoting using thumb movement to fire the shot. Has there been a shift in philosophy on this topic recently?
I just picked up the trufire exert. Its a bit bulky but the adjustability is amazing. Up to 3.5lb of tension.

I've been usuing that release for the last year or so and have been happy with it! I could find basically no reviews of it, trufire gets no love lol
i'm going to be running the carter wise choice for thumb and a tru-ball beast xt hybrid as my index
I have a stan solex and really loving it. How do you adjust trigger tension on it? Pics and or video on it would be nice & helpful😊
Scott Ghost 👍
you can set that S2 so so so hard, (opposite of hot.) id revisit that.
I’ll buy the S2. 😂
I’m currently shooting a Carter RX1. Scott makes great releases but I do not like a roller sear on a release. As I’m pulling through a shot I can feel that roller travel into the sear as it fires. That little tiny feeling plays Hell with my anxiety. I much prefer a trigger that completely dumps off and fires. Nothing wrong with a roller sear but it’s just not for me.
No Velcro on my release!!!, cost me a chance at my biggest buck 🦌
I like Carter Rx1
Tried the new Hawk Pro and did not care for it. Looking at the Scott S2. It will have to be really good to unseat my gamer - Carter Quickie Plus.
Less go spot Hogg!
Stan solex for me.
I bought the Chinese release and it was terrible in terms of the quality of the leather on the belt and the quality of the steel inside on the work surfaces. I redid the strap from good leather and soldered a strip of good steel on the contact surface inside, now everything is OK. By the way, there is a return spring for the hook and stroke length adjustment, not every release has it.
Where is the scott verge ?
Would have been nice to see you use the adjustability of all the releases instead of making opinion on the way they were set up at the factory. Definitely seemed like you gravitated to what you were familiar with which is normal I suppose.
Aren’t wrist releases sacrilege for you now? 😱😱
So you’ll adjust 2 screws to change the length of a Scott release, but you won’t adjust 1 screw on other brands’ release to adjust the tension to where you like it? Just comes off as paid promo vibes to me man..
Currently using a Scott Recon and I like it. My previous one that I still have is a Tru Ball Beast single hook 🪝 I liked it too, but it was either HOT 🥵 or within a quarter turn on the set screw I couldn’t get it to go off when doing the pull through method. I am interested in those thumb button hybrid releases with the wrist strap so I don’t lose it as well.
