I had the occasional lag issues occurring as well but at much less frequent intervals (about 5 to 10 seconds in a single race) and sometimes not at all. I was using an Xbox controller so I don't think hardware was the issue. Btw Portugal Rally is included in this game (5:36). Cheers!

Hey mate - first time watch, nice review and Subbed. for me in WRC 9 i managed to resolve the stuttering - maybe this will work for you. When i get the game I will post to see if it works for WRC 10. Full screen (Not borderless - annoying for recording as I have to Alt -Tab, but seems to helps) Ensure monitor is a multiple of 60FPS (i run 120). In game Hz 120 (or 60 depending on monitor) VSync - On

A review I have been waiting for and from a very trusted source, thanks Mike. Just wished it had the scale of classic cars which feature in Dirt. I used to get stutter in woodlands not sure if it is tree density or shadows ie the flashing between light and dark. Looks really pretty

Hi and thanks for all reviews. Interiors shift light not working in many many cars No option to remove the steering for more realism for steering users. Fov is for joke. Interior materials in old era cars is from 1990 games. PS5 in balance mode 4k resolution full of tearing and lag. Unfinished and copy paste from wrc9 many aspects . No data out for external app And no motion rig.

Same problem with g29 in WRC 9 for me. Anyway, this review is missing critical questions for me, such as: can you finally do a shakedown before setting up the car? One of the ridiculously bad things in WRC 9 was that the first time you drive a car on the stages of an event is the competition itself, you have no chance to get a feel for it or see if the set-up is good. My other main issue was the overly dark (and overly dirty) windshield that makes it almost pitch dark in the shade on sunny stages.Also pace notes are sometimes badly made and hard to configure in WRC 9, I have to keep switching between "ahead" and "far ahead", trying to find out about the next acuter corner before my actual braking point while not having to keep the next 6 turns in mind... Of course engine sounds and crowd animations are nice too but there are critical playability issues in WRC 9 that would have needed to be solved and reviewed.

some things to try for the stutter. disable steam controller in steam settings, and try running the game in steam offline mode. other things, make sure USB power management is set to disabled in PC power settings. and for what ever reason setting physX to CPU in NCP and set game to run Vsync via NCP if on nvidia, ingame vsync is abit messed up.

Super excited for this one. Played so many hours of WRC 9. Wait you run all of your games maximum resolution triple screens at a solid 60fps on a 4th gen I7 and a GTX 660ti!!! That is pretty amazing! You said it's not the best rig you have... do you experience the same issues on your other rig(s)?

LOL 1660ti (typo) but yes this rig is my old rig. Same issue on my GT1080ti at 4K too.....Pretty sure it is a conflict and i know that G hub had conflicts with WRC 9, but the `fix` doesn't fix it for me.....still searching for a solution.

@@andyw0340 Cheers Andy, no I haven't tried either of those thing tbh. I have turned GHUB off after starting the game (GHUB needs to be on so the game can connect to the wheel), which is the official recommended fix from NACON for the issue I am having, but it didn't work.

I just played for 4 hrs on the ps5. I encountered the stuttering issue once. Some of the replays look very poor too on some stages. Apart from that I’m pretty happy with the game. Hopefully this is fixed with the day one patch

I have just played about 3 hours ps5 and it has bad pop in, has stuttering frame rate here and there nothing like the video tho and screen tearinging in places wrc 9 didnt have these issues hopefully they will be fixed soon. i am liking the game tho plays well its not a massive update from 9 but 4 new rallys, clasic rallys and some refinements to the team managment not a huge update but i am liking it just needs a few fixes.

Wrc9 game done the same thing with my g29 and was a conflict with the logitec software and the game. When I upgraded to a fanitec rig it all stopped and played smooth.

I had a similar issue in WRC 9 with my G920 in regards to the sudden stuttering. In my case the stuttering would never stop until I restart the game, effectively making the game unplayable. I couldn’t seem to find any information on forums and such leading me to think this was an individual issue. I seem to have found a fix for it by unplugging and plugging back in my G920 whenever the stuttering occurs. Hope this could be of assistance. Great review!

@@SimUKReviews For me, disabling the Windows Image Aquisition (WIA) service in Windows did the trick, the game (WRC9) ran much more fluid, than before. Also, locking the FPS should help as well. Not sure about any patches coming our way, as the developer made no improvement in the last edition of this beautiful franchise...

At this point they should release a season pass every year and release a game in every 3-4 year. We are not living in 2003. :) People will get bored at this rate.

First time viewer and I have to say that was a great review. Kind of surprised to hear that they removed the Portuguese rally? Wasn't it available in wrc 9? Because if so, then this is unfortunately a no buy for me.

I experience the drop in frames on my Xbox One S in Rims Racing that is ofcourse using the same KT Engine. I notice most drops are when AI is on track with me. Perhaps something in the KT engine. This interests me as Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will be on the same engine in an open world.

Hi shame about the problems your having i have a Thrustmaster TGT wheel with load cell pedals and have changed the wheel to a thrustmaster sparco replica rally wheel i have a lg 65" nanocell tv mounted on a Trakracer tv stand with this set up the immersion is incredible since upgrading from the g29 ive smashed my previous stage times ive gone from being normally in 300 / 400 th position on the online leaderboard to actually getting 2nd / 3rd and even 1st place and this vast improvement is simply down to upgrading to the above mentioned as its more realistic hope you get yours sorted soon as wrc 10 is just awesome !!

@@SimUKReviews hi i only have the Trakracer large tv/ monitor stand the rig i have is a GT OMEGA its very sturdy no flex whatsoever my spare room was full of junk from ceiling to floor so after a lot of tip runs and shifting stuff to my garage i then redecorated the room and put new underlay and carpet in so its a dedicated man cave gaming room !! lol i managed to pik up a 2nd hand model display cabinet for my wrc car model collection then put a very large vinyl / poster of a wrc scooby on the wall and have all sorts of wrc memoribillia mostly citreon as thats my favourite rally car the citreon xsara im a big sebastion loeb fan so i also have quite a collection of wrc clothing / overalls etc !! im nearly 60 yrs old still just a kid inside lol tried being an adult found it boring and didnt work !!

I believe to fix the stuttering try change to windowed mode or fullscreen borderless, or use the rivatuner to lock the fps efficiently

Maybe it's just because I was never able to get a set up dialed in the current WRC cars, but I've always been much more impressed with WRC8 than 9.. ESPECIALLY the handbrake.. This always has me surprised when people rank 9 above 8. I'll hope for the best with 10.

I think for a lot of people it's the puddle physics and the even floatier physics that make it super frustrating to play at times. I've just had too many instances of getting yanked around by a puddle i was going completely straight over; for me personally it's a dealbreaker as far as preferring that one over WRC 9

No, you’re not. I’ve been having the same with the G29 on a beefy rig on WRC9. I have a full routine to mitigate against it. It goes like this: - Fresh boot with Epic Launcher and G-Hub being started with Windows - Open G-Hub, select the G29 - Go to Pedals and press them once (I need it for the software to read the wheel correctly) - Go to the Wheel and turn all the way to the left and right to recalibrate (as it is always off after the previous step) - Minimise (not close G-Hub) - Launch WRC - Go to input settings and verify the correct profile for the wheel is active - Play I know this is insane, but it seems to have stopped the issue, or made it much rarer. I suspect not all the steps are necessary, and they ate the results of attempting to find reasons for the stutter and a frequent calibration issue, but I stopped debugging after a while and just go through the motions now. Maybe this can be refined. In any case, I hope it may help.

Easy fix on your stutter. 4 cores may no longer be enough. But also, you need to go to Nvidia settings and adjust a few things. I will get back to shortly on what I did to stop the stutter. It really kills the immersion

in my case I run a Core i7-8086K 6 cores ? & 16gb of 3200 ddr4 I have sort of made it better by limiting the fps to 60-90 but it still does it on the odd occasion, but I can at least live with it now lmk if you cure it completely please mate.

@@musicmate70 yes. It has to be 60 fps. The engine is built to run at 60 fps. No more frames, no less. I was told it throws off synchronization if it's not set right. This fixed WRC 9. I just downloaded WRC 10 and it runs butter smooth, no hiccups. Everything on High settings. Unlike you, I couldn't deal with that freezing at all. Cost me too many races, along with being an immersion killer

@@thagamezova9310 its almost fixed it but still the odd one out of the blue, this morning I ran one stage about 4-5 times first run was perfect run 2 it had a massive stutter & when it came back i was down a cliff lol then 3 more same stage with none, so I really dont know what the hell is going on, Im not that serious a player so its not game ending for me, but I can see if it did it for someone who is serious about competing at a high level it would be.

Same on me on wrc 8 stuters

So the game has pre-order bonus but both Steam and Epic advertise the games release on the 2/9 but no price or ability to pre-order and I have only found pre-order available for Xbox and PS. Has WRC shafted PC and sided with consuls along with reports that it plays better with a controller than a wheel? Or is Nacon going to drop a consul exclusive at the last minute as they did between Steam and Epic with WRC 8? Do you have any info?

Sadly I have no additional info at all and yes I too have heard it plays better with controller. Some games really feel focussed at console players, but WRC 10 doesn't feel like that, I do however I have this recurring issue.

Do you know why in recent editions of wrc you can’t turn on and do a full championship in the wrc from the start? It’s really annoyed me as I can’t find any reason why they would get rid of the fuction

So you can only stat in wrc2 or wrc junior.

Looks good but I found 8 and 9 like a sped up video game and the car handled like it was always on tarmac. The shadows are too dark but there's no adjustment available (is it still like that?). In the end I was frustrated with the game and returned to the dirt series which has much better handling and sounds. The WRC series wins in stage design, but what's the point when driving on those stages is a poorer experience?

It def. scores high on Fun! Like I said in my review, I feel it is still a little too floaty, but it is better than 9 in that regard. I must say, the historic events are what impressed me the most...I just loved racing those old super Classic Rally cars!

Thanks for the review! BTW, the framedrops and freezes are most likely due to your old DDR3 memory. It's simply too slow to handle modern games. RAM speed significantly influence the low 1% and the low 0.1% frames, so DDR3 won't just do anymore. Even between DDR4 2133mhz CL14 and 3600MHz CL16 the low frames are massively different, the 3600MHz CL16 giving much improved performance on steady frames. And, of course the beta/review version is still undercooked, so hopefully they will fix the issues with the release version update.

Thank you. Sadly my DDR 4 rig suffers the same issue and this old PC runs competitione, forza horizon 4, f1 2021 etc... on 3 screens without issue, so it is def. Something else, although I agree my old ddr3 3100mhz ram is dated.

i dont think thats true. im running on corsair vengeance 2x8gb at 3600 mhz and experience framedrops and stuttering.. in fact, i experience it even on wrc 5, and pretty much any kt game.. and pretty much not any other game by other developers.. kt engine is absolute crap. and kt team is the worst for not solving it for over 5 years.. to see it, just go to any board of any game kt has developed and you will find people complaining about performance issues

Every game have his shenenigans and this one is more demanding and hardware dependant, you should think about an hardware update. I have no issues with this one as i dindt with WRC 9. That is for sure an hardware issue, maybe your GPU doesn have enough memory to load all the textures, etc. But thanks for the review, cheers

@@MarioJBGugisch i undertand but thats the way it its some games are more optimized for older hardwares than others. Even the game engines work different from one to another. Im sorry i dont have a better answer to you. Not every game is like dirt that runs in a potato for example. It happens in many other games than race ones.

i def would recommend an upgrade from an GTX 1660, thats for sure. Th eCPu should be ok, barely. I mean we are up to i9 CPU's these days and beyond. and DDR5 isnt that far away in ram..

I'd forgotten about the cockpits. TBH I went straight into bonnet cam (my solution to wrc9) and stayed there, I'll have to check. At 150% AI I do fluctuate between 4 - 14 seconds behind leader (unless I wipeout). TBH my issue with the wheel make progress hard going; it seems OK.

the dark cockpits and kenya tracks in WRC9 were terrible. Completely ruined the game.

I don't have this game, but i had similar issues in some other games due to following things: Logitech Arx Control and Logitech RGB/light control from games in the settings of Logitech Gaming Software. You need to turn it off even if you don't have an RGB Logitech device, i imagine you have this abandoned abomination of a software for your G29. It doesn't matter whether it's running, it being installed with these features enabled is enough to mess things up. HwInfo64 running in the background. USB WLAN adapter being present. It won't hurt to use DPC Latency tools to check whether a particular hardware device driver (kernel module) is taking longer than usual to respond, though i can't say that i necessarily expect that it'll find anything.

Just bought last night . Feels to sped up. More Arcady. The sound is terrible. Sounds like a motorbike. Feels to fast and sickly. The added co driver “oops and Wows “ gives more an arcade feel. Silly. .

Yes, but probably like me the switched to bonnet in wrc9 because it was too dark and the wheel didn't mimmick your own wheel nor could it be removed....so we all switched.

Does 10 run at least as smooth as 9 on std ps4 now?

The only "issue" is you trying to keep running modern games on a CPU and GPU combination that came out in 2012-3. A 4770 and 660Ti... are nearly 10 years old at this point.

Didn't work....had g hub turned off but because it still happens in the menu it is odd.

Floaty car physics is what sadly annihilates any car racing game for me, so it’s a shame to hear that this exists a little in the latest 10th instalment of WRC (it’s the reason I can’t bring myself to get Forza 5). Have they patched the occasion frame drop bug yet?

Is there an option for anticipated head movement when racing with inside views? It’s just the in-car bonnet view here appears to have a very rigid fixed bonnet to the picture frame, as if drivers head is bolted to via bracket to bonnet. At the same time you wouldn’t want excessive overkill head movement, but having none is a tad unrealistic. The game looks very nice though and still may get it when reduced.

Stupidly I got 10 from somewhere other than Steam (as it was cheaper) and I had assumed the issue would have been fixed, so no refund for me! Really enjoying it though, even on Xbox!

Tried it. No luck :-(

Graphical optimisation has been an issue for quite a while now when it comes to KT Racings WRC games. I encountered similar issues with major stuttering and framerate drops in WRC 9 and the WRC 10 demo. I was hoping they would be able to iron it out for launch but it looks like that's not exactly the case. Is the Day1 patch already installed for your game? Despite the graphics looking rather outdated, in my opinion, compared to the likes of DR2.0, ACC or most other sim titles of the last five years on the market, I can't seem to run the WRC games smoothly whilst I am able to do that with all the other sim titles I own which is most of them. The audio has indeed been improved but it still sounds quite artificial. DR2.0 still tops the board in that regard by quite a margin within the rally sim genre.

I've yet to run with the patch, but there are known conflicts with the G29 requiring users to close Ghub after starting the game, sadly that hasn't fixed my issue and I continue to struggle to complete a full stage without losing FFB.

@@SimUKReviews That's extremely frustrating. I feel for you man. I'm still waiting for my early access codes to arrive in my mailbox. I bought the Deluxe Edition for PC and haven't yet been able to have a look myself. :( I hope I get them today because otherwise that would be a bad start on their behalf, promising two days of early access and not getting it.

@@SimUKReviews I am very critical and have done an in-depth (p)review of the demo. There are things I really like (stage design, livery editor) and things that they have improved over WRC9 (FFB), but there is also quite a lot I honestly can't stomach as a pure sim rally driver and a lover of racing games in general. Compared to the major titles on the market now, it looks rather outdated graphically. The 3D models are low-poly, have inaccuracies and lack overall detailing (especially the classic/legendary cars) and then we have the engine audio which has been improved but is nowhere near the level DR2.0 provides. It's a fun simcade title for diehard fans or people who can live with the things that I mentioned above which break my immersion fairly quickly.

@@SimUKReviews I just found out via Reddit that for some reason PC players do not receive the 48 hours of early access when buying the Deluxe Edition! Every article I read said that players buying this edition would get it. This is another PR f***-up by the studio or publisher! They should've made that very clear everywhere!!!

I couldn't quite put my finger on it on what is wrong with this games physics... Basically at tarmac or gravel or any other surface, there's a lack of interaction between tires ability to turn the car and giving propper response of weight transfer and loads because of this. Playing something like RBR the cars feel like a whip, with a momentum that doesn't quite exist in WRC or DR titlrs because of this simplification, because the cars in this last two are mostly controlled from the rotation around their centers of gravity and then tires somewhat respond to that, not the opposite... When this is fixed then this games will start to have at least very enjoyable physics, even if not the only issue. That first interaction of the tires on the handling and upwards is the key. Right now is really backwards... It reminds me of the way GTA cars could be made into planes and rotated around... This is the same. If someone could find a cheat to use on this games like this the same thing would be possible, I bet it!!

I didn't even have to play the game to see that something was wrong with the physics. It's really a shame because I was hoping to get an official WRC game with if not perfect, at least decent physics.

I notice on Dayinsure Wales Rally GB. It's 100% asphalt but you can only select gravel tires. It's an ice skating rank out there. I'm sure this is a bug. I'm also sure it's happening on other track too.

OK so ther semi auto transmission is auto transmission but can be overridden.

Some people are saying so yes.

You can turn off the co drivers complaining and have it like before, and er the practice area has been there a couple of years now

Tks, on point , to the point, pluses and minuses. Still doesnt sound that great on modern cars seems. Older cars do sound better seems. In wrc8 on std ps4, i cant take the sound, it tiring, hurts ears even, a mess. And optimization of flow of visuals is unacceptable. Idk about 9 or 10, didnt seem better much, as 10 even stutters on ps5 it seems.

Just seen your review. I have wrc8 and wrc10 on xbox1. If I have to choose, I'll take wrc8 every time. The reason is the same stuttering frame rate as you've found with your version. Spoils the game completely for me.

@@SimUKReviews No. Just the standard controller. In fact, just compared the two games again, this morning. I've come to the conclusion that wrc10 is dreadful! All the extras and fancy content in the world isn't worth a jot if the game is near enough unplayable. stuttering frame rate and no feeling of speed, whatsoever. I don't think history will be kind to wrc10.

'Aside from this game-breaking stuttering bug, the game is great!' smh :( WRC8 doesn't stutter for me, so hopefully 10 doesn't either...

Don’t buy 10 mate trust me.. 9 is far better, smoother, sharper looking, better lighting and handling (tho cars feeling light) but in 10 I just don’t know what it is. The new engine isn’t that great, especially considering the fact that they use the same engine noise for the WRC class Fiestas, Hyundai i20’s, and the classic Loeb VW Polo (and I’m sure many more cars). I play one Xbox one X too and I swear to god this game isn’t 4K on the Xbox One version, and it definitely isn’t 60fps even tho they put that in the description.

Triple screens on GTX 660Ti? Surely you're joking maybe 1660Ti, that could just about handle it

They all exist...I am playing on a triple screen (surround) my handbrake cannot be attached to my TR8 otherwise I would be using that too.

Roger....TR8 Review incoming soon (it is a sim rig + very nice!) I'm going to have to check....working on so many games all at the same time I cannot recall if individual screen tweking is in this one or that one...but I think the answer is yes, just not 100% until I check :-)

gtx 660 ? i would't complain about graphics with an ancient card like that... i dont think it's a certain issue, it's just that it would be time to upgrade

I honestly haven't found a solution....I tried a diff wheel (GHUB was still installed though) and the issue was less severe, but still there. I am still convinced it is a GHUB issue.

Gameplay is better every year but still i wanna refund because of all the bugs and issues, also it doesn't recognize my wheel and i don't wanna spend too much time to fix it because i don't get a refund.. disappointed..

On last gen without dust effects behind cars, without watersplash effect and physics. Framerate is terrible. Wrc9 is better on last gen.

Is 9 really smoother than 10 on a ,std ps4?

i had some of those FFB issues with WRC9 with my Fanatec CSLE and now it doenst even work at all with the wheel and pedals I will not be buying this game as I never even got to enjoy the last one. I researched the hell out of it and couldnt figure it out and couldnt get a hold of anyone at customer service. great games when they worked for 10 minutes though

@@SimUKReviews Fanatec have a lot of settings on the wheel that you can tune so that helps, also playing on an lg c1 tv so minimal input lag. Hopefully they release a patch to help you guys out.

might be, but ONLY on this game and WRC9. So newer games like: Assetto Corsa Competizione, F1 2021 etc... Run without any stuttering like this. and TYPO: I have a GTX1660 ti lol

@@SimUKReviews Might be. Although didnt have any issues with WRC9. Idk what they did with WRC10, even my friends with RTX 2070s having problem. Microstutters and its hard to manage the timings. The worst thing when there's lots of crowd around. Lags really hard and its impossible to drive.

Ahhhhhhh See now you're asking a difficult question: Yes and No. Realism: DR2 Stages: WRC 10 Graphics: DR2 (but) - WRC 10 has some stunning areas that look gorgeous. Wheel Support: DR2 (as mentioned I have massive issue with my G29) Fun: WRC 10 - that slightly less realistic physics feel means you can have a lot more fun....but if you're looking for Ultimate Realism DR2 is more fun (because it is more realistic) Authentic Drivers and content: Only WRC 10 is official & the new 50th Anniversary content is epic! Depends on you and what you want from your rally game....but WRC 10 is just much fun!

No fix sadly. The G29 G hub issue is known, but the recommended fix does not work for me. Graphics set to min running single screen still happens....even when I am in the MENU! Serious issue, I am almost certain there is a conflict somewhere as I have the same issue on WRC9

Well the issue is with the GHUB software app, so it could very well be any Logitech wheel...I've only investigated the G29 but I am hearing more and more people with totally diff wheels having the same issue.

this stuttering looks like DRMs fucking up again Especially since it's happening in the menus. Definitely not your GPU, even tho you could use an upgrade

The GTX660 is shit, no wonder your having problems. I gave my dad my old 970 3 years ago. and I bought that 6 years before I gave it away. Man the 660 must be at least 12 years old by now.

@@SimUKReviews game settings does not get saved, in 8,9 and 10. I change the key bindings for the paddle shifters, go into stage not working, ah default keys again. Sometimes this happens for other game settings as well. Its the only game where this happens to me. besides this, there is no difference to me between 8 and 10, same graphics, same arcade physics

What exactly happend ? So why should I not buy wrc 9 ? Iam searching a good rally game with story (dirt 2 hasn’t really one) you can’t call it story …. Sadly and still have ea wrc which is good enough for me. but searching a second one with good physics or at least good handling … wrc generations was horrible and got returned after 20 minutes because bad handling … took half a second to the car to react like you would play with a wheel but you are on keyboard and took the game time to turn the wheel (slow) and not fast as you could with a real wheel.
