The entire process of this section took 1 hour and 30 minutes which I've condensed into just over 7 minutes. Several different sections need to be set up before laying down the main / larger section. The end of the video shows how it came out.

You did an amazing job Sandro! But I am just wondering: at this point wouldn’t it be cheaper, easier, less work and overall better to just paint it? Not hating just genuinely curious

My opinion will be biased but I'll try to be as fair as I can. Paint has a place, which in my experience is good for repairs or restoring older vehicles. Would you paint a brand new vehicle? Painting a new vehicle (properly) will cost substantially more than a wrap. It is also irreversible. Meaning most buyers will assume the vehicle has been in a collision, which dramatically reduces resale value. Especially when going with a color that's different from factory. Wrapping a car. We wrap the car as long as the paint is in good condition. The duration of the wrap will help maintain the original factory paint by preventing UV fade, stone chips and scratches, which the aftermarket paint job will still get. I have friends and colleagues who've spent over $100k to paint a car, only to get stone chips, swirl marks and UV fade. If the wrap fades it's a simple and quick replacement most of the time. It doesn't take days or weeks to complete and no color blending in necessary. I can paint a car for $80, $8,000, $18,000 or $80,000. You get what you pay for. The average cost of a wrap is $3,000-$4,000. I hope this clears things up.

I was in the same boat. Recently wrapped my wife's Scion XB in Vvivid Miami teal and satin black. Today we won 'best of the 2000s +' at a local carshow against Aston Martins, Shelby Mustangs, and some high end Corvettes. Take your time, and work through the tough parts, the results can be amazing.

Im curious.. for fiberglass cars, like older C3 Corvettes for instance, you can't use magnets to hold the wrap down. Should I use painters tape or some other way to hold the wrap in place while cutting to shape/laying it? Trying to teach myself how to do all this and soaking up as much information that I can. Thanks in advance!

Is there any need to use an adhesive promoter along the edges of the deeper recesses to prevent the film from lifting back up, especially when subjected to repeated rounds of under-hood heating/cooling cycles?

  • @avguylyfe5837

No it's not. Door jams etc under hoods or trunks aren't usually not done mainly becuase it cost more plus people don't really look into those areas. For show cars or highly meticulous would want it done. And in thus video he noted there's no engine here. But from my experience wraps aren't warranty if it's been re sprayed or bad paint. Also if it's done in the engine bay there's no warranty on it as well.

Is there somewhere we can put in video requests? I have a Jeep wrangler and im attempting to wrap my grill inserts but having a hell of a time and cant find a video anywhere for them or anything close enough to them and im really struggling with this for some reason. Ive tried a thousand different ways but the inside corners continue to tear on me and id really like a seamless look. If you could do a vid on that wpould be soooo amazing. Idk if its the type of vinyl im using which is VVivid’s Satin Chrome Magenta. ANY recommendations, suggestions, tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
