I would venture to say the 80's Phils captivated Harry's Heart. Predicted by the odds to finish fourth in the East. They not only won the East but were amazing in the Best NLCS ever played and won and the world Series too. I was young then but can still hear Harry and Richie's voices as if it were yesterday. RIP.....You guys were the best!!!!!!!!!!

Harry, Dutch, Green, and Doc are all gone but not forgotten RIP.

We love you too Harry! We won’t forget your amazing and beautiful voice for all the announcements you made for the Phillies especially when they won the World Series in 2008. You’re never forgotten and always will be a member of the Phillies family.

Still sorely missed. Never got to hear him call a game except during highlight show clips(I grew up in LA,and heard Vin Scully of course). Legend. Icon.

ScrappleCheesesteaks I cried when they announced Harry's death on ESPN. Cried during Vin's last broadcast. The Dodgers announcers(Vin,Jerry Doggett,Ross Porter,Drysdale,Rick Monday) always had Harry as a pregame show guest,he was always a favorite.

Janette McClelland oh I feel your pain. I wish I had got to meet him in person as well. Harry Kalas to me was the best baseball announcer in the entire world. Wish he was still alive.

Harry Kalas WAS the BEST announcer in baseball........a guy who got people interested even if they didn't understand the game !! FACT

Terry Hawkins I couldn’t agree more on that fact. His voice inspired a lot of people to get interested in baseball for any team and not just the Phillies.

Janette McClelland it'll be a sad day when Jim passes as well. The majority of people in the Delaware valley grew up on those two men's voices

I dont even want to think about that. His retirement alone from Action News will be hard. But yes...you are correct. It will be a VERY sad sad day. Jim is a damn legend!
