WP XPLOR PRO 8946 UNBOXING
Спорт
We just received the all new WP XPLOR PRO 8946 PDS rear shock from the guys at Solid Performance. This video is an unboxing of the shock after Solid Performance set it up for us to mount on our Gnarly Routes guide bikes. This video doesn't cover performance comparison between the previous WP Pro Component PDS shock but that will be featured in an upcoming video.

If you get a wild hair try out the MXTECH national shock. I have one for my PDS bike and linkage bike. It’s a game changer.
Cool stuff with those WP Pro's (Ka-ching, haha)....currently getting my Kreft '17' XCW suspension serviced and they're updating the PDS with their Centrifuge tech (also a larger reservoir). For those folks not looking to drop 2 to 3 bones on a shock and seeking a nice PDS alternative, might give the fellas at Kreft a ring.

Ka-Ching is right! We've been impressed with the stock units as well with a proper revalve from a reputable tuner. Thanks for the comment!

@@gnarlyroutes Yeh, I'd be game for a set of used cone valve forks should y'all decide to sell some. Wish I could've made the recent Fluvanna trip, would've had a chance to meet. My friend Mark (the electrician) you met was there with the O'Leary bros and Lance. Would be cool to arrange a Gnarly Routes tour out there. Will check the website.
Cole, not sure if any of your bikes are XC versions or not, but you might do a video on Linkage vs. non-linkage. I assume you have a preference? My last bike I went XC for that linkage reason. I have a 07 and a 13 (4 and 2 stroke respectively). Love the 13 (handles great and does will in the whoops and chop) and it does sit a bit lower for me because of the linkage (short legs), but I just learned to deal with it on the 450.

We use both versions and that's a great idea to do a comparison.
Out of Interest do solid performance valve them softer or stiffer than the stock setting? I realize it’s different for everybody
Do you ever sell left over suspension? Might look at upgrading next year and wouldn't mind going second hand

We do from time to time, reach out via the contact form at gnarlyroutes.com
Can I kindly ask for help? I bought this shock to race Romaniacs, but the setup out of the box seems too hard compared to my Ohlins ttx flow. Have you been revalving it and what did you ask the tuners to focus on? I also see you use 69N spring compared to 75N spring coming stock - WP recommends 75N for rider 75-85kg (no gear), while Ohlins recommend 70N for 85 - 95kg rider (no gear🤷♂️. This is very confusing. Could you please share what springs for what weight you usually use?

We have ours revalved and setup to the specs for our weight and riding style by Solid Performance. Spring rates vary depending on the rider weight and the bike. Cole uses a .69 on his 300 XC-W TPI and weighs 175. Russell uses a .72 on his 500 and weighs 165. If it feels too firm, try a softer spring or use the clickers to make the shock softer.
What is the size of the shock? By mm
Nice unboxing could we get a detailed review?

Yes, it's coming but we've got to log some miles on the new equipment first.
Do you actually run a rekluse auto clutch or just the cover?

On our personal bikes we run the Rekluse TorqDrive manual clutch but our tour bikes that our guests use come with whatever they request. The Radius CX or TorqDrive.
