I am an absolute sucker for a classic Bowie. The weight, shape and grind on that blade begs for the back-cut to be sharpened also. Let’s be honest, Jim Bowie’s legend wasn’t born of his knife design’s field craft and utility. The spirit and soul of a true Bowie is that of a fighting weapon- too many modern Bowie’s forget that and come in too heavy. This one looks wieldy and balanced and worthy of the name. 20 Bucks!?! That is an INSANE amount of knife for the money, and a brilliant addition to your collection 😎

One of my absolute favorite comments !! Thank you so much for that . Yeah this is well balanced. Very light . Not going to put it thru the torture test though ( as I normally wouldn’t anyway ). Definitely a collectors piece . But would also be great as a self defense weapon of course . No blood on my knives please !!!!!! Haha Stay cool brother . Really do appreciate you being here . You earned yourself a PIN 📌 🤠❤️🙏🤠🔪♥️

I honestly did not think it would still look and perform like it did when I first bought the thing . I had not used or even seen for a long time . Yeah it’s got some battle scars but it still looks great ( no dings or dangs ), and still super sharp ( not as sharp as it once was but you know what I mean ). I love this little fella ! I even wore this as an ankle knife a few times . My big question is “ How does Schrade make any money “????? They make these really cool high quality knives , mass produced so if you break one , they are easy to replace . But none have ever failed me . Even that big ass Bolo I have I put the ringer and it’s still holding up well . ( that one is a lot of fun haha - Ugly - but fun ).

@@tubes5150 pieces like the Bowie are mass produced with very cheap steel that costs them nothing to make. They profit even selling them at 20 bucks. They cash in on the Survivalist stuff.

OMG I just bought this Bowie in Malaysia from a local seller, for $50USD!may be it's the shipping fees?!may be the seller have to import it from USA and not directly from China factory?A Bowie that can easily warp while chopping?become an overpriced toy then😭🤣. p\s I like your videos and I'm left handed too.now I am your big fan.

And That is why I love doing these vids . I will review anything and everything from a $10 budget blade to an upper echelon $700 blade . Most times - the budget blade will do everything the expensive knife can do . As I always say : “ Treat your knives like knives - take care of them - they will last you a lifetime plus “. Thanks so much for watching . PS - I’m an avid collector. I have a sickness . I just enjoy collecting all sorts of blades . If I wasn’t a collector and just wanted something big - nice looking and very capable of cutting and slicing , I’d look no further once I got a hold of the Old Timer . I would definitely buy a smaller knife knife to go with it ( for the smaller tasks ).

I bought the knife on sale for $25 CAD, in rural Ontario, if there's a time I need to go into the bush for a few days to camp, I have the Bowie on me, nicknamed "Big Boy", from chopping down a tree to cutting onions and beef even shaving if it's sharp enough. This knife will serve you well if you take care of it. I sharpen it with whetstones, 400-8000 grit. My only complaint is the handle, it's hollow reinforced plastic

I bought the Old Timer Bowie at Walmart four years ago as one of there Christmas Gift offers in store. Got it along with a folder knife included in the deal for $16.00 about five years ago. I've been pleased with it. Handsome knife. I like the handle it fits my grip very well. I have another Bowie with rainbow layer color wood handle which is pretty but fat .You just can't get a good grip on it. So I endorse the Old Timer Bowie for what it is. You can pay lots of money depending on your purpose but I'm pleased at $16.00.

I’ve noticed that for example some places are selling a knife for say $39.00 plus Free Shipping ! ( that gets your attention). Then I see the same knife being sold at another store for like $29.00 plus 10.00 s/h . It all comes out in the end haha It’s a Tuff racket . Some folks don’t care though . They see that Free Shipping they are sold !! Then others see that lower price not aware that it’s still the same amount . I love stores that have a point system . Like Knife Center . But they have been on my S#%* list for a while . They didn’t count all my transactions towards my points system . So I sent them a couple emails and never heard back from them . I was going to purchase a particular blade from them . I thought it would of been discounted since I’ve been a loyal customer and I’m using the point system . It didn’t make sense . I checked past transactions and noticed that they did not include 2 Huge purchases . I asked them about it and heard nothing back . Twice ! So now I will go to another store ( if the blade is available elsewhere) and buy it from them . I don’t even care if I pay more . That Knife Center has poor customer service !! I’m a firm believer in that . Good customer service is a top priority. Especially when the customer is a nice guy like me . Haha Any time I have a question , I present myself like I’m their very best friend . Cause I need their help I will show a ton of respect . But when I get ignored along the way ..... You know you made a comment that got me thinking. "You get what you pay for". I think it's true up to a point. Funny thing a lot of youtube shows these stupid expensive knives. The thing is you never know how good they are because most never use them. They say fit an finish is great. But you do see people really using them. Now a Schf sharade they get beat an mistreated an they last. I have a few my favorite Schf55 great knife. Just hard to convince me to throw money away on stuff like Chris Reeves when I can find useful for under a hundred an a lot of times way under. I do like to buy American but I'm not a suck either. That's how some of these companies make you feel. Like crk an benchmade bad heat treatment they get asked about it. Famous answer "We left the steel soft steel so it's easy to sharpen". I really don't get some of these fan boys. Had the sharp finger myself got it at McGregor range PX when we moved ranger school from Utah to Texas but was stationed in New Mexico near white sands.

I love your comment brother !! Hung on every word haha . I agree 💯 with everything you said . I got a Benchmade pocket knife that was gifted to me . Small . But nice . I am very grateful . Of course I looked it up online to see the specs and cost . I almost thru up !! It was like $160 some odd dollars !! I’m thinking “ this has got to be wrong “!! Haha My nephew is always asking me how it’s holding up . I tell him it’s one of my absolute favorites haha . ( I can’t be mean ). I am honest though when it comes to how much I use it . I told him “ I treasure this thing so I only use it to cut open boxes or things like that . I want to keep it nice looking since it was a gift “). Well he wanted to know if I ever did a review on it . I’m almost afraid to !! The honesty is that I would never ever pay that much for this knife . Over Rated!!!! I have been delaying this review for quite some time ( I received it like a year ago ). All I keep thinking is how many knives I could of gotten for $160 haha . I think you are onto something : These US knives are a lot more expensive because of just that - Made in USA 🇺🇸. I’m a big fan of Ka-Bar and Buck . For the most part I think their prices are fairly reasonable..... for the originals ( I just did a Buck knife video last week featuring 4 of my favorites). Please check it out . But now Buck is taking those originals, and changing the steel and handles to SV35N with Green Micarta handle . Sounds nice and all but the prices are out there ( $200 area ). I almost bought a stag handle Buck 124 and that was like almost $400 . I couldn’t justify that . Nope !! Hey I could talk Forever . Don’t forget to check out that Buck video I did the other day . Thanks for watching. And sincerely appreciate your comment . You definitely get it !!!!!! Haha

@@tubes5150 I watched it, I never miss a buck video, of course we are both a age when the knife to own was buck. It's funny now all the different designs. Back in the 80s I had a 110 did everything. I love those fixed blades but I'm left handed an I've never seen a lefthanded sheath.

Just gotta be a little more careful taking the knife out ( I still keep on my right side when I used ). Can’t think of which one now !

Cowboy I hear ya buddy there lettin them go for so cheap because the steel is garbage buddy!!!!!!! Trust me I hear ya but the big hitters don’t want that because in the woods if you cut butter with that blade it will dull out and the edge will roll!!!!!!! Do you know how soft that steel is!!!!! It’s softer than soft butter!!!!!! If you really hammered down on that puppy you’d see quickly what I’m saying!!!!!!! Honestly the heat treat is probably junk as well!!!!!! Cowboy don’t take that out of your back yard!!!!!! When you see cheap prices like that they can’t give um away bud!!!!!! Have fun with it in your back yard I bet you break it!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor invest in a battle horse knives!!!!!!! Good luck bud!!!!!!! 😀
