Nor do you EVER point the air nozzle at your face or any part of the body, it has the ability to inject foreign material into your eye or even skin like a bullet. I suspect that while this guy has some engineering ability he has never worked in an environment where discipline and safety were enforced by experienced tradesmen.

I found yours dehumidifier is not good enough, not efficient enough at the sand cilynder. You can use one directly to the compressor, before air goes in the air tank. So the last one can not become rusty from inside. Something like this you found to the dentists compressors. I see your compressor have not a air cooler. You can put one between compressor and dehumidifier, the fan can help cooling. You can put more cool air in the tank like warm. The compressor don't need to work such long, so it have a longer life. And you more money in your pocket.

The way he did it should allow it to handle pressures up to 150psi with ease with minimal impact to the tank's integrity where turning the top into a funnel could reduce the safe working pressure dramatically. I am surprised he didn't use/fabricate a funnel for ease of filling though

  • @umahunter

Unless you have lots of experience this is something I would highly suggest not trying to copy with any kind of tank that held flammable materials unless you have the ability to purge or keep full of water to keep any sparks from getting inside or have welds burn through!!! even if tanks have been sitting empty for a long time they can still explode many people have unfortunately found that out the hard way cutting into an old tank without taking any precautions also you'd be surprised how much damage even a small tank can do if it overfills without a prv valve working on pressure vessels can go really bad really quick if you don't know what you're doing 👍👍👍

The first thing I have to say is, thank goodness it wasn't going to be a grill! I've seen so many people make grills out of spent gas containers... Nice media blaster. One of those tools that once you have one, you use it more than you ever thought you would. There are a lot of different medias you can get for it depending what type material you are blasting and the finish you want. Sand works pretty good, but so do other medias too! Thumbs Up!

1:00 I don’t recognize this tool. Is this what other KZreadrs were commenting as a laser welder? It looked like an arc stud welder. Also, curious if you tested the strength of the tank before or after pressure testing it with water? I’m not sure about other parts of the world, but in California, tanks are heavily regulated with some perfectly good air compressor tanks, having to be decommissioned as rust buildup on the inside. There is one KZread author that does an excellent job of a custom air tank that removes the hot air from the main tank that tackles interior rust with a water cooling system and secondary tank. He may not be a mad man like this guy, but he’s definitely a “smart man“. Either way, good job and a second all the other commenters about PPE. It may not look as cool when you put together your video but take it from someone who has put 40 years in around heavy tools who never had one accident but is now having health problems.

Do you use a compressor that delivers 700 l/min for sandblasting? ... According to sandblasting experts, at least 1000 l/min is recommended. Your 700 obviously needs to run constantly to supply air, then it won't overheat.

Laser devices are really cheap at this time (compared to 10 - 20 years ago). I was a laser tech a few years ago and seeing those 2kW "little devils" for welding, removing rust or surfacing just simply scare me. Maybe because i'm aware of what laser beam can do. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful, versatile device... That can shred your face, eyes, melt your clothes to your skin and do other unspeakable things if you are not careful. And human being is everything but "careful". I have seen clips of really smart guys doind VERY stupid things with those devices... It's not a light saber. That beam doesn't end at 2m length. You can burn someone's eye a couple km away... You can do this with a simple 40mW green laser... imagine what you can do with a nice, solid state 2kW thing... Our brand joke was: -How many times a laser tech can see a laser? -2 times. One with the left eye, second time with the right eye. [edit] I know a guy who had a crosshair mark burned into his hand. We use those steel templates to align laser beam. He just put his hand in a bad place at a bad time and was left with a mark burned into his skin. Luckily, it was "just" a hand, not his face.

If you can afford a welding table complete with accessory package and a brand new compressor why can't you afford a basic band cut-off saw? Cutting rolled shapes to length with an angle grinder and cut off disk is slow and showers abrasive everywhere. Discharging mystery liquids into dug holes has to be a no-no that would make even the staunchest EPA denier flinch.
