UPDATE: The video got blocked due to a couple sections in G3 N15 and Hentai getting copyright flagged (a month later ffs) so those sections had to be muted 🙄 for the full vid (and the unedited version) you can always consider my patreon here: www.patreon.com/luscent
"G3 N15" is for "Genís". Her nephew. She wrote that song for him during the pandemic. She was in the US making Motomami and She couldn't visit her family for 2 years. And She made that song for him talking about how much She misses him and loves him. The voice message I think it's ger grandmother actually speaking Catalán and not spanish. She is basically saying how important family is. First god, then family.
It's crazy to me how you got the meaning of the songs just from the production and emotion 🤯

Producers: OK, what genre do you want your album to be...? Rosalia: Si.

shes actually the producer and writer of all of her songs
Btw, right off the bat, since you put so much focus on the lyrics, which is great for Rosalia bc they’re quite unique, I’d strongly suggest reacting to her previous album El Mal Querer. Much more flamenco inspired, and certainly less playful than Motomami, but it’s incredibly moving. And it’s actually a single story told in chapters. Each song represents a chapter in the life of a this woman who goes through a bad marriage.

In fact that album is based on a medieval book which was prohibited in that moment. Every song is based on each chapter. This album was her university degree project.
I think the Vivianne she references in Saoko is Vivianne Westwood, the punk fashion icon. She's saying once you put pearls in the Vivianne necklace it becomes something new and different style wise. This album is a collage of what's considered high brow and low brow and mixing it and cutting it and patching it up. Reminds me a little of what Gaga set out to do with artpop. This album is so beautiful and fun I'm obsessed lol. In Cuutee she's telling artists to avoud haughtiness and stay humble and invites them to take a step outside their towers by telling them the greatest artist is God and that to experience the beauty of butterflies (which also ties to her theme of transformation) you have to step out into the street and be among the people. In La Combi Versace she continues that theme where she sings about wearing expensive designer clothing but also wearing fakes because it doesn't change who she is and she's open to exploring herself I think she implying she cares more about the artistry than the prestige associated with the cost of the clothing. I also love the little detail at the end of "Sakura" where she sings about the fleetingness of fame and then the song ends abruptly cutting off the cheering crowd very suddenly and without fanfare.
For god's shake, as a Spanish that knows about Rosalía, her past and what are the songs are about (cause she explained it in an interview with the youtuber Jaime Altozano), u freaking killed it. Every meaning, everything. Great work dude. Also, about "Diablo", the pitched voice is like the fans hating her change in music, and then she replies to them. So the haters say "You changed" and she's like replying to that. About "Delirios de grandeza", it's just a cover from a song with the same title from Justo Betancourt.

Yeah! I was thinking the same thing! In that interview she personally explained what each song is about and Luscent got everything right (well, except for maybe some Spanish cultural references, but still).

You are so intelligent and sensitive, it gave me the chills watching you getting emotional with some of the songs that did the same for me when I listened the album. I also laugh and cried with you. You nailed the meaning of the songs according to my interpretation as Spanish speaker but also to the interviews I have seen of Rosalía since the album was released. I think she is such a great artist that she conveys emotion through her voice, you are the living proof that her music is beyond the lyrics... so beautiful video on such a beautiful artist, thanks!

i have a little recommendation for you, it is an artist called nathy peluso, born an Argentinian, grew up in Spain but she says she's basically from everywhere. her sound is so unique, so theatrical and so beautiful and seductive, i think you would like it a lot, since it's similar in some ways to what Rosalía does. I haven't seen any english speakers react to her and i would be really happy if you could give her a chance, thank you! PD: I'm new to your channel, loved your reaction and obviously i subscribed :)
Just 1 song in to your reaction so far, Motomami is a mix of reggaeton with jazz, which in itself is really unheard of. Her label was actually against her doing this, but she pushed to get it made. I love how she mixed so many genres for this album. There is a lot of reggaeton, but there is also jazz, bachata, spanish flamenco and bulería. Btw can’t wait for you to get to ABCDEFGH lol
Wow! I love how you feel the music 🤍 I have been crying watching you crying while listening G13 N15 😢 I'm impressed about how accurate is your intution and feelings about the song without understanding the lyrics. Great job!

You are SPOT ON with your analysis, this is so cool! It's super interesting just how much of the meaning you got from just listening to the music itself, and then how it all clicked together when you read the lyrics. And it was so much fun to watch someone else get as excited as I was with all the little production details, and just how damn experimental and beautiful and clever this album is. Rosalía is amazing! Definitely dive into El Mal Querer as well, it's a lot more flamenco-inspired and it's a concept album, I think you'd really enjoy it! I can't really afford a long term patreon subscription, but I'm definitely signing up for a month so I can watch this reaction in full and hopefully support your content a little bit :)

CUUUUuuuuuute is about people (mostly other artists) who think that they can tell you what is art and what is not. That is why she says that the best artist is God. For example, some people criticized her for not singing flamenco in a traditional way.
The concept of each song is so clearly communicated through the lyrics and song titles, it really shows how deliberate she is with every element in this album, but your familiarity with Japanese culture really gave you a beautiful perspective and understanding.

Saoko tells us about the transformation of Rosalía in this álbum. She became sucessful doing a flamenco fusion (like song Bulerías) with electronic music on her second album and It was so aclamaid and all the people expect things about her, she is doing an statement on the first song of motomami talking about transformation and tell us that never going to do the same music because she is experimentation and a butterfly (motomami icon)
Great job reviewing this album. I love Rosalía.

I loved this reaction!!! You look like a very special person, love you. Hi from venezuela❤❤
Sakura is not a real live, it was recorded in a special room belonging to producer friends of hers where you can physically adjust the space to create the exact echo you want. Totally sick! And the line actually reads "flames are pretty because they don't follow an order". There were other small translation mistakes but this is the only one that really bothered me. Please react to her second album El Mal Querer, an album inspired in a medieval novel in which she mixes flamenco with electronic music, she made this album as an independent artist, it was her thesis for her degree on music and flamenco. With this album she won critical acclaim and made it to the mainstream

Thank you so much! You made me cry... Some of her lyrics are hard to understand for us native speakers also. Combi Versace for example. But she stated that was intentional, the album is sometimes so personal that is difficult to get a grasp of the context or the references, but she said it was to allow a level of ambiguity that fuels your curiosity. I haven't red all the comments of course but nobody mentioned a familiarity to Lemonade and Beyonce, just in spirit maybe and the presence of The Weekend, James Blake, Pharrell Williams I don't know

Delirio de Grandeza is actually a cover of a 1968 song of the same name by Justo Betancourt, a Cuban Son singer. La Fama is Bachata, from Dominican Republic. Bulerías is traditional Flamenco, which is Rosalia’s musical training background. this is why she has such amazing control of her voice 💓 in this song you can hear traditional flamenco intonation in the vocal technique she uses. Sakura was actually not recorded live - live audience recording was added after the fact to compliment the message of the song and as a tribute to live performances, in contrast to the isolation of covid during which this album was produced
Great reaction! You should jump into her previous album as you will understand this one even more. Another beautiful journey El Mal Querer album.

The funny thing about Rosalia's songs is that we, spanish speaking people, don't understand the lyrics either haha and we're huge fans of her music, you can still enjoy it, and dance to it.
Rosalia is a genius and true artist
In the song "Diablo" she reaffirms herself before possessive fandom and haters, represented by the distorted childish voice, fawning on her only to immediately say "you have changed, you are not the one I used to know, you re a devil". Basically a dig at people who think her new songs are too weird or too reggaeton or too commercial and talk as if they owned her and were entitled to put her into a box and decide what is better for her to do with her voice.
This comment section really passes the vibe check! Great job btw with your comment as well x
