We had a great time visiting Fredericton recently. The capital city of New Brunswick is definitely a cool place but I don't think we are leaving SJ anytime soon! HA

Saint John or Fredericton?! Which do you prefer and WHY!?

I prefer Fredericton over Saint John because the quality of air is better and better climate. That being said, it is the worst of the three cities for access to primary healthcare and services for seniors.

Not sure. Freddy is nice, but it is lacking in fine dinning, or just restaurants that serve great food. There are a couple but in general its it not a great city for eating out. Also, the city doesn't own a large stadium for concerts etc and the taxes are quite high. It is a pretty city though. Isaac's Way is a nice place, but in the four times I've been there, never had a good meal
Fredericton is simply an awesome city. Been there 3 times and always looking forward to the next opportunity to return.

We moved from Niagara Falls to Freddy in May and we love it here! I grew up in Portland, Oregon and Freddy reminds me a lot of a smaller Portland. The vibe here is incredible and we notice we spend way more time outdoors here then we did in Niagara. Regarding the hills vs flat thing, our neighbourhood just past UNB is very hilly so I usually walk my bike back up the last part to the house, but I can bike downtown no problem. Never been to the muse, I’ll have to check them out!

My last time in Fredricton was about 40 years ago, I was born in Hamilton, lived there many years. I found Freddy at that time to be cleaner without all of the truck traffic, tall buildings and industrial infrastucture that is Hamilton. Hamilton at that time however was a much greener city with many mature trees in the older neighbourhoods. I can see a big difference now in Fredricton. Such a coincedence that I will be travelling there for a couple of days this coming week. The tribe looks healthy and happy, thanks for sharing.

I live in Fredericton and just had this video come up in my recommendations. Thank you for bringing attention to our downtown! With August upon us, if you don't have other plans, I would highly recommend finding out where your nearest Acadian Day (Aug 15) celebrations are happening. If you're up for a drive, the Acadian Village (similar to King's Landing) is in Caraquet, and you can ask the locals about the deportation of the Acadians in the 1700s.

If only Fredericton had decent walk in clinics let alone ones you can actually call and are actually open, and better access to primary health care and a more milder winters, I would consider it, but it is in the middle of nowhere and only close to Saint John plus a terrible location to be for frequent international flyers..

Fredericton is a BEAUTIFUL city but the people and their attitudes are not always it. When I go to Saint John it’s like a breath of fresh air, everyone is so kind and warm. Fredericton is notorious within New Brunswick for bad attitudes. I’m happy more people from different provinces have moved in though because they’re all so kind and it’s slowly getting better and more kind.

I was born in New Brunswick, and from age of 10 onward was raised in Victoria, B.C. I have also lived in Hamilton, Ontario for 13 yrs and then moved to Moncton, N.B. I would have to say Fredericton does not look similar to Hamilton, but does remind me of Victoria, BC in many ways. Of the Three cities Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John, I do prefer Fredericton. Saint John and Fredericton both have very steep streets to walk up, and Moncton would be easiest for walking in as it is more flat compared to both of those cities.

I think Saint John is one of the most underrated cities in Canada. I've lost count of the amount of people who told me to stay clear of Saint John over the past decade. me and my wife have been there about 10 times since then and had an absolute blast. It has the look of a city that should be at least three times larger in population size; it's very deceiving. Like you look at the population, and it doesn't match with the architecture and layout of the city itself. Whereas Moncton feels like a town that got too big for itself. I like F-town, but for visiting, i prefer Saint John NB.

Fredericton is the Portlandia of NB. It is the place where people who weren't the first to have grommets, or dress like a bunny with a Dora backpack go to stand out. It is a great place to come see BLM posters long after the organizers have been indicted. Just be careful, they have been experimenting with novel traffic strategies for decades. Just take it easy and follow the signs, one of which should "You can't get there from here". I once came in on the main road, hit road construction, and there was a detour sign that went to a dead end. When I asked the road crew for directions none of them drove cars.
