WOW!! Dual Form HACK Using A Nail Tip - No Filing Needed Underneath!!

Hi Guys,
So in today's episode, I'm going to teach you how to do a Dual Form over a tip because I have this little idea and I want to try it out on camera. HOW EXCITING?!?
We've done a Dual Form application before but felt as though that it wasn't quite as neat as I'd like it to be so I got this BRILLIANT idea of using a tip to straighten the nail underneath the dual form.
Can I just say that this was a test? We had no idea whether this was actually going to work or not.
So guys, I applied a tip in the regular manner and prepped and primed my nail. I then applied the acrylic to the Dual Form like you have seen me do in the previous videos and pressed it down onto my nail. Now, this did work slightly differently from the previous times as the acrylic squished out of the sides a bit but as long as you make sure to get rid of the excess it's all hunky dory.
You will be happy to know that this technique doesn't require you to file and buff that much, we've eradicated that pesky filing underneath the nail for you guys that don't have an e-file and all you have to do now is just make sure those Side Walls are right.
Anyways, thanks for watching the video and be sure to subscribe to our channel so that you can watch more fantastic nail tutorials. Also remember to check out our 1MIL Subs Giveaway video to find out how you could be in for the chance of winning A FANTASTIC iPAD AIR 2!!!
Love,
Kirsty xxx

Present Palace ....What Marie Preston means is , instead of using a tip (to prevent the blob underneath the nail) after using the dual form on top, you can use the nail form(which we use to sculpt nails with. Hope this helps you.

@@presentpalace5722 - here is a little more detail. You know those paper foil things they wrap around your finger and under your fingernail to provide support to build length on your nail with an acrylic or gel product? They are called Nail Forms. The idea is this: When your nails are clean and prepped, file your natural nail length down to a short length, just enough to be able to fit and grab a paper Nail Form under the curve of your natural fingernail. Then select a clear plastic curved Dual Form that matches correctly your own fingernail size and cuticle shape. If it is a little off, file or trim it to be exact. Put a dab of Polygel on the underside of the plastic clear Dual Form and spread it evenly with your brush. Add more as needed. When smoothed to the length and thickness you desire, gently press the clear Dual Form on to the top of your fingernail that already has the paper foil Nail Form on it. Clean away any excess that squeezes out. Cure under the lamp. After cured, remove the paper form from underneath the nail and turn your finger over and cure the underside separately. Remove top form. This should result in a perfectly smooth and properly shaped bottom nail and also a smooth top nail after curing. No under nail drilling required. This uses the best combination of tools to save time and give a superior result with minimal filing.

I wasn't able to use both together because my dual forms curve too much to make contact with the paper form. Instead, I discovered last night that I can use a paper form to create a layer of polygel. Then I cure it, remove the paper form, and use the dual form to add another thin layer on top. It worked great!

Put your tip on, prep the nail and add polygel (without duel form) just like you would acrylic. 👍🏻 I do mine with that application. Edit: If you wipe the polygel after curing with alcohol it will get rid of the sticky surface left after and it won't gunk up your file.

I did this 10 years ago, it is as old as that.. look it up on youtube, they are also called poppits. You can make designs in the form and then apply a bit of clear on the nailbed area in the dual form and put it on the nail. So its not the future but the past ;) xxx

  • @primrosemartin1

    @primrosemartin1

Well, I tried but now I'm not sure. I noticed that within a day of wear, the polygel lifted off the nail tip because the plastic, just like the dual form, didn't stick to it after curing. This caused moisture to be caught between the polygel and the plastic tip where it separated once hardened. Your manicure may lift from the nailbed prematurely from that moisture between the polygel and the nail, even if you properly applied your form to the base. Perhaps by applying an added gel coating to the top, sides, and underneath you can encapsulate the tip and prevent this separation?

  • @Rdhddbtch

I’m going to try it tonight. I would think as long as I prep the tip like I do my natural nail it will work. I use a base coat so that should keep the poly gel from popping off of the plastic tip right

I bet if you just hold the dual form in place from the top you could mold the acrylic underneath with a brush, too. Or set the finger upside down against the table for support so you don't dislodge the dual form while you're smoothing the underside.

Christina Price you can thank chop shops for that one. If they weren't ripping off acrylics with nail tips, over filing the nail plate with a coarse bit, and using cheap mma products. Its a fad though because these came out over 10 years ago and for some reason resurfaced as the great new late 2017 trend along with polygel and dip powders. Lol i agree with what you're saying though...sucks for real great nail techs.

there are very few people that can manage doing their own nails to that level. And not everyone has time to mess around with acrylics for hours for mediocre results. Quality work will always be appreciated. If i was allowed to wear long nails to work i’d probably have someone do them. unfortunately i’m limited to only wearing nail polish on my two days off, on wednesdays my nails have to be clean and short again, so no stilettos for me😫
