Hijo de la luna is one of their best for sure.

Their group name is a mixture of "forest" and the Latin/Italian word "stella", which means star. So Forestella means a forest of stars. Their names from left to right in this video: Ko Woorim (classically trained basso profundo), Kang Hyungho (countertenor and rock voice, no vocal training), Cho Mingyu (classically trained tenor and leader of the group), Bae Doohoon (musical actor). This performance was part of the very popular Korean competition show called "Immortal Songs". The motto of this episode was "Time travel", and so a song was chosen whose roots go back to the 17th century. It was revived by Simon & Garfunkel. Forestella sing all kinds of genres and in many languages. They are my favorite vocal group. They have covered Queen, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and many others. Some recommendations: Lazenca - Save Us (rock opera), Bohemian Rhapsody, Hijo de la luna, Je suis malade, Spread Silk on my heart, Inner universe, Time in a bottle, Nella Fantasia and of course their own beautiful songs like "Save our Lives" (the music video is a cinematic masterpiece) or "White Night".

Bae Doohoon studied acting at the Korea National University of Arts and made his debut in musical theater, playing one of the male leads in a contemporary take on the lives of the ancient Hwarang warriors (an elite warrior group). He also was cast in the 2017 run of "Our Bad Magnet", originally by Scotland's writing talent Douglas Maxwell.

Scarborough Fair is from old English folk song. Simon & Garfunkel version is the most famous as far I know. There are some stories about this song Scarborough Fair..what I've read was this is a song from a ghost (soul) of a dead soldier. He asked the herbs growing on his dead body to deliver his message to his beloved girl in Scarborough Fair where was a big herb market. He asked the herbs to tell her impossible task "Tell her to make me a cambric shirt without no seams nor needle work" to make her give up waiting for his coming back as he's already unable as he's dead. Forestella sang like as messengers of this sad and beautiful story. Also there are symbols those herbs significated: parsley for comfort or to remove bitterness, sage for strength, thyme for courage, and rosemary for love. There's some speculation that these four herbs were used in a tonic of some sort to remove curses. What I first heard was to remove memories..so I thought he (the dead soldier) wanted to remove the memory about him from his girl to make her not mourning for him anymore. BTW I found those herbs cannot be grown in the same areas in fact while on my researching English references.. so it could be just for remembering the recipe for turkey seasoning ingredients, too.

Well, for one, those herbs are used in many dishes. They are very common in Western cooking but if they are more than just flavorings I would not be surprised! I only learned about the age of the song through these comments which is fantastic! I love learning about the history of songs and music and it's always wonderful to learn something new! I didn't read anywhere that it was told from the perspective of a ghost, though! I read that it was between two lovers but I like the ghost angle better. regardless, Forestella did an amazing job of conveying such deep emotion in the song. Thank you, my friend! ❤️

Forestella is a crossover group from Korea. They were grouped through Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea and won it. However, as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Hence Forestella has sung great covers in various TV shows, better filter on the video to avoid copyright block. Forestella dared to cover the songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed. You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! If you are a LOL fan, check their Warriors and Legends Never Die! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us, Unwritten Legend and Despacito too. Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (a classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (an ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (a classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (a musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. For instance, this is the first I'm hearing of 'crossover group'. Not in your comment but in all the comments here. I've never heard of Il Divo. I don't know what King of Kings is (not in this context anyway) or '159th king of Masked Singers' means. I'm not sure how to take 'musical actor' or 'emotion convincer'. Does that mean he comes from musical theater? Someone said he was a tenor/baritone, that I understand! I don't understand about them having to fulfil a promise when reaching 990k views for Save Our Lives. That's a promise they made to their fans? I don't mean to sound ignorant, my friend, I would like to understand it all! I have a deep desire to learn not only about the artist but the culture they come from. This is really the first artist from Korea that I've had the pleasure of listening to. However, I did do a BTS video about a month ago but it got completely blocked after less than one day! I hated this song with a passion, as we learned it at school in 1960s, and had to sing it in Rounds. It sounded like cats meowing. (It's actually an Old English Folk Song, which Simon & Garfunkel's made popular). Forestella's version made me actually enjoy this song for first time in 60 years. You may like their "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Bad Romance", "Shape of you", and work up to "Je suis malade". 😭

@@BemusingBill if you haven't Reacted to 2Cellos, you may like them. They've covered music like "Highway to Hell" or "Thunderstruck". For me, the best current Singer/Composer/Performer on the Planet is Chinese singer Hua Chenyu. He grew up listening to Muse, Radiohead, Linkin Park. But he Composes/sings Rock, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Electronic, Ballads, Broadway, Traditional Chinese. (Not in my Top 60 Hua Chenyu Performances, but "Nunchucks" (Singer 2018) is a good, fun intro to SOME of what he can do. (Imagine Freddie Mercury, crossed with Bowie, Steven Tyler, George Michael, Bruno Mars and... Elton John. 🤣 And you get the idea. You can't put him in a genre. And, he even tweaks his Hits to keep them fresh. (Oh... and he DOESN'T dance🤣).

One of my favorite live performances is Inner Universe… would love you to view it… truly better than the original!

If you’re interested,Forestory has a nice shortened version of the Phantom singers second season in which the group came together. Can be watched in four separate episodes for a total of about one hour. Totally condensed, but you get to see the excellence of each individual singer!
