I would definitely recommend “Can’t Handle This (Kanye Rant)” from Make Happy. I’d also say check out “Art Is Dead” which is about how he feels about being a comedian/performer and it would be very interesting to hear your take on that.

I would agree! Can't handle this is the perfect bookend to this song. It tells the rest of the story.

Those are both great ones. He's a very dynamic performer that tends to put layers in almost everything he makes.

I did NOT expect such an on point and real conversation from an older couple reaction video. No offense to the older generation, ill be 40 soon myself, but sometimes reactors in their 50s and 60s can just watch things and say "Yup pretty good, thanks for watching guys." I totally get the slight sense of doubt when people are screaming their mental issues from the rooftops in a time where having problems comes with attention and in all honesty some people use that to get said attention. I try to fight that impulse as well. I think part of that comes from having a strong sense of "My problems are my problems and why would I EVER put that shit on someone else to increase their load of problems?". Which at times is straight up unhealthy and not something I should apply to others. Either way, such a good reaction. Subscribed.

No offense to the younger generation (I have some really great grandkids!!), but Bo Burnham has an appeal that transcends age. We ALL have anxieties....trust me, you don't grow out of them (I'm 71). But you can get better perspectives with age sometimes. I enjoyed this discussion, and your comment.

I just turned 50 and was first introduced to Burnham by my 75 year old Mum who has been following his work since he started on KZread back in the day. I have seen plenty of young reactors just watch the video saying almost nothing then 'yup pretty good, thanks for watching'. Its not an age thing.

I really enjoyed your discussion. He’s actually a comedian. But he is just incredibly talented in other ways as well. This is part of a larger special on Netflix called “Inside”. He has some really funny and interesting and just great songs. He also has a special “make happy” that has some great songs. I’d be interested to hear your take on any of his previous work!

It is so refreshing to get something deeper out of a reaction channel. No screaming to slap the like button or shocked-face thumbnails, just real talk and a sincere and thought-out take on the performance. Just damn good stuff.

He wrote and directed himself in this latest special in one room during quarantine. It's worth checking out his specials on Netflix. Lots of great songs to react to. Kanye Rant, Straight White Male, From God's Perspective are just a few. But it is best to watch his shows to understand the vibe of where he's coming from. Also wrote/directed and won numerous awards for Eight Grade. Pretty brilliant guy.

Coming in late, but echoing others who was really pleased with your reaction. So many reactors Do Not Even Notice that this song addresses serious things - even during the explanation breakdown people have asked “what happened?” when he says he was ready to perform in Jan 2020 and then “the weirdest thing happened”. Bo is a comedian and an amazing one. All of his adult work, and especially his Netflix specials where his work is honed for them… well, he does an exquisite job mixing serious points and fun and relatability. “Operatic” totally a word. ;). His voice - singing and speaking - in this both had effects on them… but he's always had a good voice and during his 5 years of from his younger songs to this one it improved dramatically where the effects he uses are truly *for effect* rather than hiding a poor voice. Due to Covid he ended up doing this Netflix special entirely from a room in his home on his own…. And it’s 500% worth watching in its entirety because the clips available on YT are just small pieces of an entire journey he records using the song performances and aspects between them. See you’ve reacted to some of his other stuff and about to go watch those so much of what I just said may be quite redundant with what others have let you know and what you’ve seen, but I’m putting it up just in case I hit on anything not. Again, really loved the reaction and how you took the song actually in and then your discussion about issues afterwords.

Having suffered from ptsd, severe anxiety and being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can relate to this track quite a lot. Thank you for such an honest and heartfelt reaction and chat afterwards. I’ve had several suicidal attempts over the years (I’m 45 now), have clinically died a few times, but videos like this make me feel happy to still be here. If you watch the entire Inside special, you'll realize that he's really still struggling with his anxiety, depression and panic attacks. He's even done a bit of live performing since the special but those in attendance have stated that he asked the audience not to stare at him or cheer and applaud during the performance so he's still have a lot of trouble dealing with a live audience. All of the songs done for Inside were done without a live audience, in his guest house, where he was able to control nearly every aspect of his performance.

This amazing song is rooted in so much pain. Really shows how authenticity cuts through all the bullshit in the world and hits you. We need more authenticity in this world instead of all the ad based fake bullshit we get pumped into our brains constantly. It's making us all hate each other and resent each other for ridiculous reasons.

it's a subtle change, but there's a formant shifter on his voice bringing the timbre downwards, to give it a pitched down feel while still staying on the original pitch. Really great discussion on the themes of the song

I applaud your break down cause I truly believe that you can help someone understand why this song appeals to them and why they might feel emotionally connected to it.

I feel like him inserting the laugh track as a double-entendre. Like, "Some people won't get what's going on, and will laugh at a bad time," and somewhat seemingly giving permission/green light that it's okay to laugh. Like, he knows not everyone knows the struggles he's going through.

I think it's a continuation from Can't Handle This of "You can tell them anything if you make it funny...." He feels his audience will laugh anticipating the punchline and not take him seriously. By the same token, he _didn't_ add the audience when he said he got better. If he'd been live I'm positive his fans would have cheered in encouragement. I think he's showing us the cynical, self-deprecating headspace he's still in.

I feel like without watching his special this song might be lost on some but his special is a whole emotional rollercoaster for all people. Worth a watch for sure. Editing after my first comment, i really appreciate both of your openness to mental health issues. Sometimes it's obvious sometimes its a subtle joke that didn't seem right. I don't know you guys but i love you and i hope you're able to help many more in your future.

Operatic is a word! I think he was using a special microphone or some kind of effect. I've been listening to Bo for years and his voice isn't that deep naturally. But I loved how it sounded in this song! I've been listening to it on repeat for days now. If you want a really funny one of his to react to, listen to his country song parody called "Pandering".

Firstly, i love the way you sit and take in the entire song and video before sharing your thoughts. Too many channels are constantly stop starting the dang things. Secondly, really thoughtful and kind conversation had following a song that clearly carries so much weight and meaning for the artist. Didn't just say "wow that was intense" you had a truly worthwhile discussion. lovely.

It's much easier to break down a song in it's entirety by pausing and talking about it. For the people who want to just listen to the song, they should just listen to the song. There might be some things you miss if you just do a listen through the song one time then talk about it. It just depends on your preference. There isn't a wrong way. Good reaction and conversation though.

A word of advice, try and have a little bit of commentary during the video portion. When reactors sit silently, it makes it a bit hard to get an idea of what they think. Feel free to pause it if you're afraid of missing something important. Also, I would love to see you guys react to some of Joji's songs
