Would You Survive This Obstacle Course Challenge?!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In this episode, Coyote’s spending 24 hours in the life of an Anti-Poaching Unit ranger. Mike Veale and his team of experts from Global Conservation Force run him through the gauntlet of APU training to see if Coyote has what it takes to be on the frontlines of animal conservation efforts. He'll survive an extreme obstacle course before he goes undercover, camouflaged in the South African brush.

I like how they didn't handle him with kid gloves, but once it was clear he was flagging and didn't have the energy to keep pushing himself like they'd normally expect out of a Ranger or a candidate, they pivoted to giving encouragement without being patronizing. They seem like good instructors based on that.

Anti-Poaching is one of the most important environmental jobs out there. We have problems with poachers all over Costa Rica...taking canopy trees and protected animals. There are not enough law enforcement officers to keep them under control. It really affects Tapirs and Peccaries, which lead to the decline of JAGUARS!

But this was a very amazing thing to watch! I’m honestly amazed at how well Coyote did! Not to mention that the Rangers though tough are supportive throughout the course. While pushing him to his limit, you hear them praising him for his efforts here and there by saying “good job”. That’s kind of really amazing. Just out of curiosity: Have you ever been to a location (looking for animals) where you encountered a bombardier beetle? Those things are really cool

Less than 2 minutes in, and I already hate the "rangers" there. Being super rude is not the correct way to be a professional instructor. I live by the golden rule of if you respect me, I respect you; Disrespect me, and you're in for a rude awakening because you're getting a taste of your own medicine. I don't care who you are, what you do, etc. You just don't treat someone like that. It seems they were pushing a little too hard and DIDN'T give you an example of how things should look like. That's a crap instructor, no matter what you're trying to learn or how important the position is. A good instructor shows you what to do, how to do it, and pushes you to YOUR limit, not theirs.

Nah, there is no softness with these guys. They take their jobs very seriously, and they don't believe in beating around the bush. If you can't handle this, you definitely can't handle military training courses instructors. P.s. they were more than likely acting for the video. Not rocket science.

I can imagine that rangers on the off time would actually get into possible gun conflict with poachers, so all this training would be necessary
