@@itsjustshane6691 if your vagina is too dry (not enough period blood/slime), it's painful to insert a tampon. Even more painful to remove it if there is no liquid in the tampon, because the tampon sucks up the moisture from your vaginal walls and then it causes really bad friction to remove it.

Yeah, for me it's the actual bleeding that gives me anxiety. The idea that I'm bleeding through my tampon/pad and ruining my clothes or staining visibly heightens my already existing anxiety. I'd rather have PMS --- I already know how to cope with mood swings and body changes but period blood is never something I'd willingly choose ever.

I think free bleeding anywhere but at home and leaving blood smears is so very unhygienic to others. If I was at work (or anywhere actually) and found a blood smear I'd want to smear whoever left it. Gross, unhygienic, and non-consensual.

I think it really just depends on your flow. If you have a light flow, it won’t be that bad. On my first period I free bled the entire day at school and didn’t even notice a thing lol If you have a strong flow, free bleeding can feel like peeing your pants

I got my first period the first time ever that I wear white pants in my life + I was 11 and when I told my mom I said - look, I just started my period and I know everything I dont want to talk about it GIVE ME A PAD NOW thanks 😀

When I hear free bleeds all I can thing of is the stench... Blood naturally has a fresh scent so imagine just having a build up on your underwear mix with probably vagina sweat or something 😷

Trè Fraise but it’s gross and unsanitary? Not to mention there are women in the world who don’t have access to or aren’t allowed to have the resources we have for periods. It just seems so selfish. There are plenty of other, more hygienic ways to normalize periods and empower women, and free bleeding is not one of them

To all the women saying they use pads because they’re scared of tampons, it’s not that bad! If you’re scared of the initial application, it’s actually a lot easier than you think, you just have to take a deep breath when you first put it in, because after that initial push that it just slides right in I promise. If you’re scared of TSS, it can’t form unless you’ve had it in for 8 hours, and you’ll most likely change yours every 4-7 hours depending on your flow for hygiene reasons anyway! And for the teenagers out there - I was 14 when I tried, currently 15 and i love using tampons. You feel so much cleaner. Good luck gals :)

*PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE THING, THERE IS A VERY FUNNY STORY IN IT, LOL* As a person with a heavy flow AND PMS symptoms, I would take the symptoms over heavy flow any day. I say this because one time I was at school, and went to the bathroom, I was in a class with a male teacher, which I could not avoid anyway because all of my teachers except one were male, I pulled down my pants and in that very moment, got my period (which I was not expecting for 6 more days). And of course, I had to be in my largest class, with over 60 people in it. So I had no pad or tampon on me. Blood was on my hand, underwear and light blue pants (meaning you could see the blood on them). I waited until my class left and no one was in the bathroom and went to my locker. Luckily, I had a very long sweater to cover most of the blood. I went to my next class (my only one with a female teacher, thank god) and told them what happened. She let me go back to the restroom, and call my mom, who took me home. No one ever spoke about it again. The worst period story yet.

You can get those "sanitary towels" that were invented a while ago that are literally specifically designed towels to absorb and not let out a period nd place them conveniently on your body so that it goes with you everywhere without you needing to move stacked towels everywhere with you. I'm speaking from common sense.

I feel safer (like safe of leakage) if I have a thick pad coz I wear night time ones all day coz I would rather feel like I’m wearing a nappy then like I’m wearing nothing

my periods have never really been heavy, and I rarely get cramps. It’s probably since I haven’t really had my period for a long time, but I still can relate to some of these.
