Just a few observations. I bought a 2008 Honda civic hybrid 5 months ago. Absolutely love it. It had 105000 miles on it when l got it. No issues with the hybrid battery, works absolutely fine. I get average 48 miles per gallon. I think if you choose carefully you should be fine. I don't believe it's a definite that the the hybrid battery in the civic only lasts 10 years . If anything a vehicle that's taken out and used often with the battery being charged and discharged regularly may be a better bet than one just used on short trips to the shops. You need to bear in mind the 2006 - 2010 civic hybrid can be driven solely on the petrol engine, however theses vehicles don't have alternators as the hybrid system acts as the alternator also charges the 12 volt battery as well as the hybrid battery. In fact when the vehicle comes to a stop and the engine stops to conserve fuel the hybrid electricity will continue to power your ac. If the hybrid system was to fail due to battery issues you could still drive the vehicle but you would need to manually charge the 12 volt battery daily to maintain enough charge for the spark plugs etc.

The older hybrids just seem like too much of a headache in regards to the battery dying out. By the time you spend a few grand on the car itself and then eventually another few grand to replace the battery you could have used the money to buy a somewhat newer car with less miles...

Gen 2 and 3 Toyota Prius cranking / house battery id located in the trunk on the right side fender area. Hybrid battery, behind the rear seat, is only used to power the wheels.

In 2023 this is an absolute steal at that price. You can get remanufactured batteries for under $1k these days & used car prices are much higher today than they were in 2019. Even being four years older they are still priced higher than they were in 2019 sometimes by a wide margin!

I been selling cars seens i was 15 years old and ever since hybrid cars hit the market i fall inlove with them and are great on gas 2 of my favorite civic n prius i drove prius sold one and i now have a 06 honda civic hybrid with gps xm radio and had a check engine light and ima problem i fix it by adding a new 12v battery and new plugs n ignition coil and its now like new and now ima and hybrid battery charges great only issue with civic but rather have a prius easier to fix hybrid issues just battery and thats it usually mess up 1 or 2

I hate to be negative, but you really dont know cars. even your mechanic doesnt. the battery in the prius is in the trunk, 12v. Then you speak of trouble codes, are you kidding me? You are a dealership without a code reader? I happen to own both the cars you demonstrated, but i wouldn't want to make any decision on things that you said.

Oh another thing the civic hybrid although unable to move from a standstill on electric power alone, is capable of cruising on electric power if you're driving at a steady speed between 15 - 25 mph. Under normal starting conditions the hybrid system spins the engine up to start it so you don't hear the usual starter motor sound. The engine simply springs to life. This is the same in stop start traffic when the engine dies after a second or so when you stop but as soon as you lift your foot off the brake it simply springs back to life. I understand though that there is a starter motor but only used as a back-up if the hybrid system were to fail. The ac compressor is powered by belts connected to the engine but also incorporates an electric motor allowing the hybrid system to keep it going when the engine stops in stop start traffic.

That car just needs a 12 volt Battery; located in the back passenger side pannel the parts store cost around $200. Thay other Hybrid Battery will last over 300,000 miles. You'll thank me later,

The Prius has 2 batteries, a 12v for Windows radio etc, and the hybrid battery actually starts the engine not the 12v, if the hybrid battery dies you wouldnt be able to start the gas engine. Also the 12v battery is the same size as regular car.

Hit the breaker behind the back seat. Use as a regular gas engine.

I drive a 2005 blue Prius just like the one in the video and I’m looking at the exact same civic (same color and everything) for my son today 😂

Civic i get 50 to 58mpg prius gets more about 60mpg to 65mpg due to you can drive it electric thats if i stay under 40mph

I get them on auctions i payed $2800 for civic and 3k for prius civic has 152k and prius has 120k miles

It’s the Civic for me, it looks like a normal Civic except for the wheels on the outside unlike the Prius, plus I’m a bit biased towards Honda because I owned them before…. In fact I just bought a 2008 Civic hybrid just this morning

Prius works, and drives alredy!All you have to do is interior cleaning, and fix few cheap things.And after all it is more fuel efficient than civic.Because it is an" hard hybrid". In this civic you have to fix IMA,and CHECK ENGINE light. These are two separate errors. 1.REPLACE FAULTY HYBRID BATTERIES. 2.POSDIBLY, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND / OR OXYGEN SENSORS, and that is way more expensive than changing few cells in Prius battery. I would chose Prius because i saw on your movie that traction battery is already charging green ....so it works probably fine.Even whit the fact that it was not driving for a long time.

You can disasambly civic battery and just replace bad cells. It wuld cost 100-200$ :)

I have a 2007 Toyota Prius and it is a CBC transmission and it won't shift gears eldest Drive smooth so the Honda Civic have a CVC transmission so I won't even ship Nina gears just be like a Prius drives moves smooth

Lol my boss has an 08 Civic hybrid and when the battery/hybrid system failed at 80K miles the dealer wanted over $8K to fix the car. However, apparently there is a big judgement against them for this and Honda had to pay for it.

Prius/Toyota in general is definitely much more reliable when it comes to hybrids. Especially early models

I think the Civic would be worth it to someone who can eventually afford to replace the battery and wants to deal with finding someone to install it at a reasonable price.

Do we really want to listen to someone that obviously knows nothing about how the car does have a 12 V battery in the trunk as well It is the battery that starts up the hybrid system then the traction battery takes over.
