Remember, you are teaching right now. There's a difference between teaching in the education "system," and teaching in life. Your teaching has gone "global." You go girl!

You definitely do not need to go back to teaching. Do what is right for you. Your happiness and mental health comes first :)

Oh my gosh, yes! Especially if you’ve worked in urban core schools; those are the worst. After teaching, I decided to try subbing and had the worst urban middle school class ever. I was their sub for 4 days, and it was terrible. They used profanity constantly, I had to break up fights twice, and nobody came to help me. Couples were trying to kiss in corners, turning off the lights even when I told them to keep them on, trashing the classroom, ripping up work and throwing it on the ground, and even laptops were on the ground. No respect at all. I don’t blame you. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I miss the younger kids, but whenever I think about going back to teaching, I remember that awful middle school class. So good for you, girly! ❤ and I’m also in my masters program for mental health therapy as well so great for us 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Let me start by saying congratulations for regaining yourself! As a Special Education Teacher, I don't want anyone to teach who doesn't want to. Teaching is a difficult vocation. Although many things are wrong in teaching, I do it because it is my calling. I resigned from my last position because, as you've so bravely shown, we have options. If you feel attacked and your physical and mental health are being affected, move on. Graduate School is very doable. I am praying for your success. ❤

It sounds like teaching is your passion. There's always the private sector as chances are students are a tad bit disciplined. Or you can catch the unruly kids at the remedial level as adults trying to get their G.E.D. At that juncture their meds have leveled the offset of their animalistic ballistic behavior. At least you have the stamina and strength now to catch them on another path in the criminal justice system. Honestly saying. Students no longer have that respectful demeanor of a Mayberry or Walnut Grove era. You deserve better!

You are such a wise young woman. I wish that I had a friend like you thirty years ago to have these types of conversations with. Kudos to you for putting your mental health first. I am not a teacher, but this message resonates with me in my career as well. It's a universal message. I hope that in your new endeavor, you carve out a space for motivational speaking. You're amazing, sis! I clicked the like button and subscribed. Wishing you all the best and can't wait to follow your journey!

Thank you for sharing your truth. Public education is exhausting. I need to step out on faith.

Glad to see you happy and living your best life! Definitely don't look back. You are absolutely going to be a great therapist. Just by hearing you speak.....I can see that counseling is one of your gifts. I wanted to share something related to what you said about being or feeling trapped. I love teaching...but it wears me out mentally and physically. I am at a nice school with a great principal, but I fear that I won't make it through the year. I wish it were as simple as just facing your fears. I would love to move on. Some (like me) may feel trapped, not out of fear but out of financial necessity. At this point in my career, I can't just start in a new field with an entry level salary or go to school with little to no income coming in. Fifteen years ago, I could have (and probably should have) moved in a different direction. But now...I don't know.

I’m in college now to become a teacher, I’m going to do elementary. I wanted to be a dental hygienist but plans changed. During observation hours I saw a teacher who looked so sad and the kids were awful to her. I really hope I will like it
