Aw! I totally understand where you are coming from. I was in another field (social services) and it was the same. Adults acting like children and children trying to act like adults. I had so many “coworkers” plot evil against me it ain’t even funny. All of the office drama and cliques of veterans (as they called themselves) etc and it’s people that are in an office setting that should be professional. I was surprised. Sadly, it was majority black state agency and these were the ones doing it in my field. I am seeing a few teachers walk away from something they first had a passion for. The state and conditions of America needs change. Prayer is needed for this nation. The fear of the LORD needs to return to the households, churches, schools and people.

@@monshaa You better preach! Yes, the fear of the Lord needs to be restored in America. It is so, so sad when I hear so many Black people say that it’s other Black people. Unfortunately, I experienced that, too. It’s disheartening but I always stay focused on God and remember that He is my help. He helped me leave that situation. I am looking for a job that is a bit more chill until I finish grad school.

I took my three teenagers to tour a public charter school. About 10% of the students would loiter in the hall the entire time, students they shadowed didn’t even attend most of their classes and when they did a kid told the Algebra II teacher to shut the F up. My kids are still happily homeschooled. 😂 I’m so sorry this was your experience. We respect and value your heart!!

After receiving my Master's in teaching in 2012, I obtained a teaching job. It was horrible. I left because I became depressed. After covid I went back into teaching and I love it. I think you like me was at a bad school. Hopefully you can find a better school where you're appreciated. I think you wanted to be liked and/or make friends. There will always be drama at any workplace. Don't expect to make friends everywhere you work.

@@csspeakslanguages You are incorrect about me wanting to be liked and/or make friends. Wanting to make friends and wanting to work in a respectful environment are two very different things. I already have friends and while I was open to making more, that was not the reason. I also tried different schools so that’s not it either. Trust me, I wouldn’t have made this video before trying different options. It’s definitely the toxic work environment, lack of respect, and low pay. I have been much happier since leaving. Hey everyone! I just want to specify that my first paycheck was $2,300 a month, not biweekly. That’s not a livable wage. Also, though I am not married, I don’t think teaching would have allowed me to be a good partner because I was always tired and grumpy. So, even if married, I would not have been able to stay in the profession with dual income due to the mental and physical impact. From the outside looking in, I was like a zombie. I'm a new teacher. I start my first day of being a teacher on the 15th of this month. I'll be making way less than $2,300 a paycheck. I'd say half that. We get paid bi-weekly so barely above what I'd make at McDonalds. I love that it is salary and the benefits make up for the pay. I know it will be hard, but I love my school and the kids there. I'll have support from the principal and staff. I worked as a paraprofessional so I've had experience with the kids and school. I will also be in school for my Master's degree and certification. I have my emergency cert, but it only lasts a couple years I believe.

Totally understandable. As a scientific sceptic and a realist I cannot imagine being a teacher in modern America. Science, facts, gaining understanding or perspective or any skill requires discomfort, focus, dedication. There's no room for that in modern schools. It's a wild jungle full of feral kids. I never treated teachers as authority figures, I always saw them as equals. But as a result I would treat them as well as I'd like to be treated, I'd respect their time and effort, I'd treat them as equal human beings with empathy. It's not even a matter of respect. It's a matter of basic human decency.
