Lock/mage is pretty bad since the lock dies in 10 seconds and feral/mage has a little more survivability but still is not great since they have no MS. If they did get someones trinket with a clone into a deep poly it would work.

@@Earpugs i've experienced what you're saying about mage/lock. But it's not impossible to protect the warlock with mage.It might have diserved to be on the tier list. Openers against ferals are kind of pain in the ass.

Hey there - I am back with another question of how is holy paladin/feral and Ret/feral? I know it wouldn’t be a top tier comp, but is it viable at least to get high enough on a casual basis?

As experienced wotlk pvp player, I will explain changes I would do. I have seen drainerx ending top1 in old AT as disc-ele, is just so annoying comp with so much control, ridicolous survability and relying on burns against dps heal, probably an unplayable comp in endgame with 284, sm etc, but definitely not tier C . I dont think ret-enh is that strong comp, the reason that makes it good is that it does well against wopal unless wars countergears with 2 Pve set pieces, but I think they having a bad time against lock-heal, priest-whatever and casters in general. I would place disc-hunt on S+ tier, is not that strong comp as wopal,ret-hunt but I think is S+ or atleast way better than S comps. And last one is disc-dk, no way theyre tier B, is the best dk comp since hpal-dk struggles a lot in offensiveness and imposible to win against wopal for example. Its true that is not easy to make a tierlist, cause comps changes through phases and new pve gear. Nice video, I enjoyed, keep the work!

Thank you! Frost mage feral is good in 3's and kinda in 2's. Mage hunter shares a lot of DR's so not super great but playable I guess. Ret mage is decent enough but no MS effect makes landing kills require huge CC chains.

Very good list although as an enhancer I really wanted to hear your thoughts about bm/enh. It is easily the most iconic 2v2 comp for an enhancer and bm can only play that as well. Additionally I would like to add double enhancer, back in the days we were the living nightmares of a lot of high rated priests rogue mage priests with that comp. :D 4x Purge and 2 x 5sec cd shock, 2 tremor, 2 grounding, instant hex x2. Instant heals!

Earpugs we need a tier list that's based on the whole of wotlk covering each season then giving each class a score based on their average throughout. As every list is based on final season.

Ele/rogue is missing from the list imo. Its been a while, but I feel like I used to play vs that quite a bit on warmane. Still great list!

Great video. Now I'm even more torn should I continue playing Enhancement shaman or reroll and main a DK. Got tired of being burned in PvP by almost everyone, but if I stay I'll always be wanted in PvE and PvP, tough choice...

Thanks for the great content! Few questions, I saw a mention of SP+Ele somewhere, how would that comp fare? And what would be my best bet as an Ele shaman in a double dps comp? Lastly, how important will PvE gear be throughout the seasons of wrath in arena?

SP ele is decent but it doesn't have any real escapes besides thunderstorm so you get punished by cleaves pretty hard. Ele sham destro lock is probably the best 2's comp for ele's if not one of the best. PvE gear wil be less important in wrath since you have a much larger health/mana pool and is overall more balanced. Don't get me wrong PvE gear is still strong in wrath, just not as insane as it is in TBC.

As earpugs said, probably your best bet is destruction warlock + elemental shaman in 2v2. Shadow+ele, boomkin+ele and rogue+ele can be played on a decent level. Double ele for destroying those DK+Hpal Shadowmourne andies xD Give it a try, I remember it was fun as hell... As long as you dont run into any rougues that is. PvE gear comes in play with ToGC set, but is not that important and it depends on many factors if you want to play it.

I have limited experience (played wotlk only back in original wotlk and never on warmane etc.)) I feel like it will also differ greatly in classic due to the patch that we will be on (with the gear combination possible). Back then you had release-lvl DKs and such. Generally casters scaled better later into the expansion so I would assume it gets a little bit better with gear. Although it might not curve as well as warlocks.

It's weird, I've hardly ever faced some of the setups you describe here after 8000+ games of 2s and some common comps aren't listed. I agree with 9 rankings out of 26. I cannot imagine putting disc/hunter anywhere else than second or third best comp for example.

Thanks for doing this video also it would be really cool if you did a video on al the macros you need for arena plus the add on you need for arena !!! I'm currently trying to figure out how to do the macros where you can cast a spell like CS or dispel on a target without having to actually target them!?!? I think its called like target arena target 1 arena target 2 or friendly target 1 friendly target 2 dont know how to make those macros so would be helpful if you did a guide for macros/ add ons also would greatlyi appreciate it!!!!

I will be covering a complete beginners guide for UI/macros and addons once wrath is out! Arena target macros are /target arena1 /target arena2 /target arena3 to use a spell on that target without targeting them like counterspell would be /cast [target=arena1] Counterspell you can replace arena1 with 2 or 3 and you can also replace counterspell with any ability in the game.

Hey Earpugs, what in your opinion is the easiest s+ 2v2 comp to climb with in season 5 specifically? Also what about hPal+ele, which seems to be highly rated every now and then on private servers?

Thank you! Unfortunately warrior hpala counters and lock team in 2's pretty hard. You can play druid destro lock to pick up seduction from the succubus that way you can cc both of them at the same time (fear pala seduce war) but the warrior is very good at 2 shotting the pet so it's frustrating for you to fight no doubt. Nothing really hard counters hpala war. Some comps do decent against it like ret hunter.

From my experience the hardest comps for hpal warr to beat are spell cleaves such as ele destro and spriest frost mage which are both insanely good comps.

I’ve seen some pserver videos of burst comps like s priest / rogue or ele / destro winning against hpal / awar pretty convincingly. Is that just cherry picking games for a video and not a real trend? Seems like s priest / rogue can really just shut down the Paladin and focus the war no?

you'll be fine, get a shaman friend tho. And yes, ele/destro is something warriors hate a lot. Also, you hate them (warriors) as affliction.

Playing ret/war in wotlk was the most fun I ever had in wow. Even in full res gear the opponents just got melted. Easiest 2k I ever had

Yeah but 2k in wotlk back then won't get you 2k in wotlk today. I used to be 2600 back in wotlk and even though I never stopped playing and I've gotten better, I can only get around 2100 today. The players are wayyy better these days

@@tomxxree3655 because more players creates elo inflation. Less players is more competitive. If you have played tbc and retail you notice it's easier to push elo in retail. The kind of people who play wotlk arena will be try hards. And the skill level has increased dramatically since wotlk days. Not to mention knowledge of comps and strategies going in. The kind of people who play arena play 12 hours a day. If you play 3 hours a day for ten years you will get better, but compared to everyone else you will do worse. That's how tbc classic arna was. I was a much better player than I was in tbc and I got 2400 in shadowlands, but in tbc only got 2100 this time around. I just didn't improve as much as everyone else

Sadly there's no beastcleave (enhancement shaman/beastmastery hunter) on this list. One of the strongest double DPS compositions in the expansion. Best composition versus caster teams I would say. It remains quite strong until other melee classes get hands on broken ICC/RS trinkets and Shadowmourne. I would put preg/enhance maybe on A tier, since it's completely miserable versus spell cleaves, but gradually gets better as expansion progresses. It really shines as solid S+ in 284 meta, where hpal/warr is overpowered and there aren't as many spellcleaves as before.

How about DPriest-AffLock? Destroys any heal comp with Drain Mana + Mana Burn, dispell mana regen, dispell shield, plus AOE fears.

priest lock is pretty bad in wotlk because all you have for cc in fear and so many teams have answers to your fear. You also have no answers for rogues or cleaves. Anything is doable with enough effort I guess but that would be a tough one.

Frost DK enhance has a huge damage spike for a burst but frost DK’s are very squishy. Blood dk and warrior is not good because the warrior will get tunneled every time and not be able to last that long and the blood dk won’t do enough damage. Both of those comps for 2v2 are going to struggle against any team that can cc chain a target. I wouldn’t put those very high personally. Enhance frost dk has a better chance in 3’s.

@@whitekong9907 oh I see, for 2's those aren't super great just because you won't last that long and probably won't land a kill. For 3v3 however enhancement arms warrior is called turbocleave and it's very good. Enhancement blood DK though is just bad all around because blood DK's are a meme spec for arena.

I've fought it and if played correctly it's pretty good, however it gets railed by a lot of double DPS 2's teams that camp the ele. Would probably be lower A tierish.

Thank you! Its not as good as spriest rogue for a few reasons. The biggest ones are that the rogue has sap and blind when compared to the feral only having cyclone. Also if they get someones trinket the priest can fear them and then sap off of it in most scenarios where as the feral cant. On top of that wound poison is absolutely huge along with crippling whereas the feral only has a 50% slow. I don’t think feral spriest is necessarily bad. It has huge damage in the opener, the biggest problem it will run into is if you don’t get a perfect opener, it will be almost impossible for you to reset costing you a lot of losses.

Ele destro is definitely strong

The tierlist leaves a bit to be desired, with just a glance its hard to tell which classes are paired together into a comp. Making the background checkered to separate the comps or doing something similar to help with visual clarity would've helped a lot.

When was gladiator/r1 removed from the 2s bracket? I want to say it was in the transition to cata but I was a little kid back then and don't trust my memory. Will titles only come from 3's bracket in wotlk classic?

It was removed in season 6. If I had to guess there will be no titles from 2's off the rip and only from 3's and 5's but they haven't said if that is happening or not yet.

Great overview! Can you please suggest what is the least PvE dependent class and spec? I want to choose a class to play in PvP, but I don’t like PvE at all and don’t want to spend time farming PvE gear.

Thank you! Hard to say, there's lots of classes that don't need a ton of PvE to be strong. It's not like TBC where every class needs many pieces to be strong. The most PvE gear dependent classes in wrath are arms warriors and rogues probably. Hpalas can wear a bunch too if they want since no one will go on them other than spellcleaves. In wrath the PvP gear is very good so you really don't need a bunch of off pieces. Most classes just get a trinket and maybe 1-3 PvE pieces and they're all set with the exception of wars and rogues. It's also season dependent because when ICC comes out there's a lot of good off pieces/rings etc. that you can get. You should play what class you think is the most fun because you can do very well in wrath with little to no PvE gear.

You could make it work. If you berserk on a target and lava burst + chain lightning at the same time that target is dead pretty much.

Man the other video you said that for 2s and 3s strictly elemental shaman is top of s+ tier and then in this video BAM ele suddenly gets a single mention and dumped into the lowest possible spot from the highest. I get that its god in 3s but I prefer 2s and you had me determined to roll one but after this vid I dont know what to think... come to think of it I never remember seeing them in 2s either back in the day. So I should go back to the drawing board if im gonna focus mainly on 2s right? I am trying to avoid being boring and melting face on warrior this time.

ele destro is good, would be A tierish. Def not one of the best though, if the ele gets tunneled it's pretty much game over unless they have insane control. Feral rsham is decent would be B tierish, you only have clone hex to land kills. Hunter Rsham B tier for sure, no magic dispel hunter gets controlled whole game they rail the sham.

Feral hunter is ok but it loses to many hpala teams. Disc priest hunter is a very very good comp however.

You're a beast! What do you say for maining enhance? Thinking enhance/holy pala and then go turbo (enhance, holy, arms) for 3s. Would that be better going ret with I guess a priest then instead ?

Turbo with hpala and war is better until S8 when pregs are insane you could play any but I think turbo is the scariest comp to fight out of all of those.

@@Amatoren discord.gg/mYtyGJ53 enhance holy isn't great. You have a tough time killing any healer DPS and have minimal cc so not great, you do have purge which is nice. For 2's ret enhance or preg enhance is like 20x better than enhance holy paladin.

Enhance boomie or enhance resto would be fairly low on tier list since both of those classes are not super hot in 2’s. They both lack a general kill pressure by themselves but pair well with certain comps in 3’s. Ret enhance is pretty good.

We just interested on 2v2. Enhance boomkin or enhance resto? For tbc it's 100% resto enhance... But i can't remember about wotlk.that was a long time ago. Sorry for my bad english And thanQ again❤️

@@blackstorm6138 I think they’re both on the same tier to be honest. Maybe enhance boomie is slightly better but hard to say tbh. I would just play what you think is the most fun.

@@Earpugs so as someone who know wotlk better than me i respect to your opinion and glad to hear that.always i had to play resto tor serious plays.i could never play my lovely boomkin.seems it's time for old dreams become true😍❤️ If you say there's not realy a difference and maybe boomkin work better I'm happy to play that as my serious play:x I love that baby owl. Defintely a good tier list, i do disagree with you in some points however.

I have a 70 priest and my mate has a 70 lock. Is Spriest Afflock viable or are the shared DR's too much to be effective?

The biggest problem that you will run into as that comp in 2’s is that you both only have fear to peel and you both will die very fast.

Any thoughts on lock/mage?

Hard to pick a specific one, ret hunter does well into it, so does spriest rogue, so does shatterplay.

Nice video but where is destro lock mage and shadow priest lock ?:p

Thank you, destro lock mage has no heals and gets murdered by anything with a warrior and most cleaves so B tier, spriest lock has the same issue, B tier. In 3's those comps are nuts though!

Arms feral healer is decently strong in season five. However arms feral in twos is definitely lacking since they have limited healing and pretty much only have 1 all in and after that will die

How do you feel warr / hpal does in s5 with that gear? Still S / S+?

Hey man, I'm playing sp/lock in tbc, a barely viable comp. Seeing how mage and rogue with sp are both some of the best comps in wotlk how would you rate sp/lock?

SP lock is still not great in 2's wrath because they are both so squishy with almost no escapes, in 3's it's very good with an rsham though and called shadowplay.

It's not bad, lock should be destro, affli doesn't have enough burst to deal with a lot of teams. Would be A.

The main difference between back then and now is everyone is gonna be watching videos like this and playing s+ characters/comps.

Everyone was playing hpal war in wrath originally, i assure you. Nothing will change for high ranked ladder comp distribution, except preg pally will probably be a thing, and protholy will not (thankfully)

Hello I have a question, sou say at 12:33 Preg enhance are great at seasson "A" and then you say PREG 12:48 is only good at the end of wrath of the lich king. So I'm confused now

Preg is still good earlier it just doesn't become absurdly strong until S8.

@@Earpugs What changed in S8? Is it still relevant for wotlk classic considering it will start with 3.3.5 class balance? Which basically is end of the old wotlk. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

It can yes. Ele/destro and ele/preg are the better pairs but fmage can work.

you are missing beastcleave + warrior paladin should get their own tier also where are the elemental shamans?

It's better in TBC but you can play it in wrath still would probably be B tierish. Disc MM is the king of hunter healer 2's comps though, they have insane synergy.

What comps can maybe counter or be on same lever as holypaly/warrior, is feral/priest or hunter/ret or hunter/priest good against it?

hpala war is very good, but don't think omfg I can't beat this comp as XYZ. Every comp can beat hpala warrior if played correctly. People make mistakes all the way up to and even into the rank 1 bracket. Don't stress too much about can we beat this etc. Just watch replays and if you're playing your comp with no mistakes you will beat almost every team. It's a bad mentality to blame losses on class balance instead of gameplay.

I played a lot of war/healer back in the day. I think spriest/rogue is very hard to play against, spriest/mage also quite hard. Mutilate Rogue/healer was also difficult at some points depending on gear. Smourne changed things but I never got it.

Would you say Jungle (Feral/MM) is at least A Tier in 3.3.5?

Tough call for 2's, it's not bad but it's also not great since it dies so quickly. Hard to rate that one, I will say for 3's junglecleave is bonkers easily S tier in 3's.

Balance / Frost-mage? :( We used to play it on Pservers include arena-tournament and it works realy well.. "only" rogues are a bit issue.

It's ok, they just both die really fast. You do a ton of damage but it can be easy to die quickly as that comp.
