Jon truly was a great actor, as the Doctor and as Worzel. He is still missed. RIP.

As was Charlotte Colman
Have been to this field (Ten Acre in the series) quite recently. The trees between which he seems to be falling haven't changed at all. The area is between Braishfield and Kings Somborne near Romsey, Hampshire.
Best days of television.
Met him at the Jarvis Piccadilly hotel Manchester he was having a great cup of tea and a slice of cake on mezzanine floor lovely man 😍

Watching as a kid I was always very impressed with the high production values with which Southern made this programme (as well as other children's book adaptations such as The Famous Five). I'm especially impressed that they had Jon fall in a different direction at the end of each season's credits.
used to love this but was absolutely terrified of him as a wee lass. my mum bought me a Worzel doll and my sister got aunt sally....I can tell you now I wasn't impressed. I think he became the serial killer in all our Barbie games....poor Worzel....

Wow thank goodness! I honestly thought it was just me that was terrified of Worzel Gummidge! Even now watching it at 48 years old it brings back that old fear! 😂
I loved worzel when I was a kid the ending when he falls up or down was funny.
Loved watching Worzel . My favourite TV programme.Takes me back to my childhood😊
I'm not gonna sleep for weeks after looking at this.
Love this show,my Sister had a few episodes on VHS,she gave them to me when I was a kid in the late 90s,It brings back alot of happy memories watching this.
One of my earliest memories of television is Worzel Gummidge being impaled by a pitchfork then water leaking from his stomach also Simon and the Witch tv show. British children's television was weird in the 80's.
Watching this brings back so many memories when children tv were so good
Every sunday we all used to have a bet on which way he would fall at the end of the programme!!! Fantastic.....
It's so good to see this again, brings back many happy childhood memories.
A slice of tea and a cup of cake old worzels back in business. Rest in peace Jon Pertwee.
end credits funky as hell.....
I was born in 1972 and now, here I discovered this amazing and lovely series.
Jon Pertwee is simply a King of British Legends, love him to bits may he, R. I . P.

He was english. Stop perpetuating the myth that British is a thing or a culture when in fact it's just a disguise for Englishness.

@@ValiantWrestling OK he was an English legend although his blood is apparently somewhat French too, Happy?.

Aunt sally 😁
Had the honour of meeting Jon
It was that one opening credit in the rain that did me in... As soon as that was over I got out from behind the couch and watched happily. I was a sensitive child though...
Thank you!!! Everytime I thought of Worzel I got a tune in my head and every clip I watched had a different one which I still recognized but I was sure there was another one. Now I know it was from Worzel Down Under, lol
Best actor for playing worzel
Love Worzel's reaction at when he looks down at 3:30, he knew something bad is coming!
Very good ;) I loved all the heads he had..
Showing my age now, loved this as a young lad... Bring Worzel back!!
John Pertwee in a legend!!
I'm 32 & I can too! : ) used to love watching it as a kid all those years ago
LOL, this takes me back some. Always used to try and guess which way Worzell was going to fall at the end. Still makes me laugh now seeing him fall flat!
i am 30 and remember this in early 90s great stuff. loved aunt sally
he scared the living daylights out of me every time he changed his head or fell of the wood i used to run n hide behind the settee lol
I’m only 20 and my mum encouraged me to watch this and I love all of them, if only they made one more British episode after the down under version 😩

@@stickytapenrust6869Those are complete woke trash. There waa only one Worzel Gummidge and that was Jon Pertwee, not that twat frlm the Office who looks more like Freddy Kruger than Worzel Gummidge.
Classic show-No show like it!
End title credits music is funky as shit!!
Wow memories ❤️
Pls post the two missing eps very good worzel and worzel and the saucy nancy!
best kids show ngl
Top programme. I remember it being much scarier at this start than this. Wasn't there an open sequence in which it rained? And as the children went past in the car, his head turned and watched them! Maybe my over active childhood imagination playing up.....
Down Under Theme's my favorite!!
I loved this when I was little but hated it when he fell at the end cause I thought he hurt himself 😂
If you loved Jon in this get the radio 'classic' 'the navy lark'
This show usd to scare me as a kid..it still kinda does lol!!
Worsle Gummage was the first book I ever bought and read, I loved this program I watched every Sunday without fail
damn just typed in worzel gummidge im 35 this takes me back to sunday mornings almost 30 years ago cuppa tea an a slice a cake with aunt sally, and can anyone remember a kids show called catweezle? where does the time go to ,wish i could turn back the clocks. used to watch this at my grans on sunday mornings the guy had a robins nest in his cheast me thinks.
Back to when I was a child with no responsibilities, and nothing ever bothered me.
Great story in Peter Kay's book about when Jon Pertwee made an appearance at a fete as Worzel and Peter grabbed a piece of hay off his costume and Pertwee told him to Fuck Off and he was only 9
Lol my mum used to watch this, i find it quite funny
Yep, I loooooved this Programme. Jon Pertwee was great. Geoffrey Bayldon who played the Crowman is still acting away I understand.
Remake this now,you know who can play Worzel? Sean Pertwee of course,he's the spitting image of his dad and a damn good actor.

Leave this legendary programme in the past . To remake it now would be sacrilege . Nobody could play worzel as great and Mr Pertwee and also kids these days lack any sense of fantasy and intellect they just wouldn’t get this and would rather just be zombified with there phones and laptops . However I would rather have a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake 😝
Have they got keith moon doing the drums on the end credits of series 1 lol.
in the christmas one was billy connerly another scarecrow ?
i was in love with charlotte coleman............so sad what happenend ....
I didn't know that Dr Who was a scarecrow and that Grace Bros Mr Spooner spent his leisure time away from Menswear in the company of same scarecrow!
My nan showed me this and she kept laughing xD
I defy anyone not to break into a air drum solo at 0:44
Its a shame what happened to poor Charlotte Coleman who played Sue.

What happened to Jeremy Austin who played John? His on screen father was Mr Spooner of Grace Bros Menswear Dept!
my brother was shit scared of wurzle as well lol
I vaguely remember this version. I really liked the new one.
i think he must have been yeah or near it anyway, he was a great actor
Add me to the list of people slightly frightened by this prog as a kid. I think Worzel Gummidge is Somerset Jesus. The end credits only reinforce that belief.

Yes I've heard the rumour too, but who'd play WG - there's only one Jon Pertwee!
The takeaway was that decent carpenters were hard to find.
just realized i've mistaken geoffrey for william hartnoll . yep i was wrong.

Was this jimmy Saville in disguise ? ..... loved this programme when I was a kid in early 80’s in England but found it very sinister and creepy . I’m still having therapy now 😪
