austinuk100 me too! When I was a small girl, and apparently still at 30 😂

I grew up near Stockers Farm in Rickmansworth and as a kid that would make it even more special when i watched Black Beauty as i could literally see the fields, shown here and in the show, from my bedroom window. What i would give to be back in those days without a care in the world.

Love this music - used to love watching Black Beauty - makes me feel very nostalgic and good inside :)

I cannot tire of listening to this glorious theme music, or watching my favorite horse Black Beauty,,,Amazing just amazing !

You know, I was 8 when this was made in 1972 and even at that age I knew this was special. I was never a great fan of the programme, but I used to watch it just for these magical titles. The music, and that horse galloping through the water, used to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Absolutely wonderful. If the 60s were the golden age of music, then the 70s were the golden age of kids tv.

Yes, kids TV was the high watermark in the 70s, and I am six years younger than you (being 2 in 1972!)

A great theme from my childhood, and musically I appreciate it so much more now I am middle aged. It's going into favourites.

As a little girl, I always wanted my own Black Beauty...and cried everytime the programme finished,,,Oh dear lol

In 500 years from now, there will still be people humming this tune. Thank you Denis King for this amazing and memorable track that will remain timeless. Even my 15 year old daughter knows this music and it’s February 2020.

So true. I could see the fields at Stockers Farm, used in the show, from my bedroom window. I didn't have a care in the world. What i would give to be back at that age, at that time with what i know now. Nostalgia big time.

I love this, my love of horses started from this and Follyfoot. Wonderful years of growing up against the backdrop of the seventies. Music is stunning.

I absolutely Love this theme music!!!! I have been looking for this for a long time. Forgot that it was Black Beauty not Black Stallion. I remember watching this when I was 9 or so. Lovely memories from way back then in N. Ireland. Came to Canada when I was almost 11. Brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it!!!!

In the 70's the children's/family TV series had cracking themes, adventure and made you feel good No swearing, no laugh tracks, no health and safety and no insulting the audience.

Wow. That sure brings memories back... I remember the times when I was much, much younger ^^ and simply couldn't get enough of this horse and its adventures. A long time is gone since then but still, it's nice to meet Black Beauty again. Especially with the theme that could rise goosebumps and send you dreaming at the same moment. Thank you for uploading it!!!

Thankyou so very much for posting this...One of the greatest stories ever told by Anna Sewel who had quite a hard life. And yet can write one of the best ever stories "Black Beauty" and that theme music is pure perfection !!! I can listen to that time and time again and see the beautiful Black Beauty galloping across the fields...Happy Days :)

Children today have nothing to remember their childhood like we did with feel good ,moral series like us from the seventies did.

I love this theme tune so much. So rousing, and reminds me of being at home when Mum would come back from the shops. Happy times then. Sigh, memories.

Memories of my childhood come flooding back... the years of innocence and the unknown

I loved Black Beauty. When I got 21 I FINALLY saw my dream come true and bought my first horse. I remember the first time I dare to go faster. The theme of BB went through my head. Black Beauty is gone and sadly so is my first horse. But this music always reminds of her. I had several other horses after her, but never one as friendly and loyal as she was.

Unforgetable!!!! What a tv serie, a classic .... I am 38 and remembers me all my childhood.... Thumbs up!!!!

Even thirty + years later, I still love this theme song. Eat your heart out John Williams!.

Oh, wow! I am in my late 40's and this theme track to the ‘Black Beauty’ episodes is embedded into my childhood psyche. I always loved this piece of music as a kid, and I also loved the theme song, (Called 'The Lightning Tree') - I think, to a similar drama around the same time, which was called, 'Follyfoot'. Anyone remember 'Follyfoot'? Anyway, thanks for the upload :>)

I knew someone who was on the crew of this series. I recall him saying it was always manic. Horses running off because they were scared of the noises being made to keep them galloping for the camera shots (hidden crew bashing pots and pans with hammers and sticks to make the horses continue running, as you can tell with twitching ears on the galloping opening shots). There were also a few horses used in the filming of BB, each with a painted identical forehead star, I’m sorry to say. But the main one was the star of the show. Also a painted on star. Distant horse shots were the other horses. Filmed at Stockers Farm in Rickmansworth. All of the horses were well looked after though.

They don't make theme tunes like this anymore

There are good tv shows day but the majority of what is on tv is trash and there is now 500 tv channels.

i love black beauty. as a child me an my brother an sister used to sit down an watch this ever week side by side on the floor . must of been one of my best memorys as a child because my first ever tattoo was of black beauty

It says it was made in 1972. Follyfoot was also on back then. I’ve just finished the boxed set of Follyfoot. I’ll be getting this too. Telly was fantastic back then. From The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe starring Robert Hoffmann as Robinson Crusoe in 1968, and Tom Grattan’s War to this. You just need to hear as much as the first couple of bars of the theme and you’re transported back to happier times when mum and dad were only as far as the next room and homework was the worst of your worries. Oh for a time machine!

Great theme music and Yes, it does bring back happy memories of a young childhood, and am now 50. By the way the black horse was used in that great bank advent all those years ago. Of course those older enough to remember it. Thank You for posting it

Yer too right. I loved this tune and always watched Black Beauty. Im 44 now but we danced to van der valk in first school PE. We used to get asked which tune she would play on piano and it was always same answer lol

it's weird thinking this tune brings back happy memories but it turns them into sad ones thinking about it now

I used to watch black beauty back in the 70 s every Fridays in the afternoon before Ultraman I love the story the plot of that show was unic and brought all ots of good memories

Have just shown this clip to our daughter as she is reading the book Takes me back to the 70s !

We've got an old video of Black Beauty programmes. Hearing this music brings back the memories from when I was 7, watching Black Beauty while off school sick.

I remember racing home from skating lessons to catch this on the box!! Often my feet were still frozen when this theme came on!! :)

Remember seeing this show (and hearing this beautiful theme) on European TV but missing it greatly in N.America. So glad to have this on youtube!

Always loved this programme because i adored horses, sadly my mum died when I was thirteen; I think this series was out in 1971 around the same time. Let me know if I am wrong. But even now at age 53 this tune makes me want to cry.................Its a haunting tune for me but still beautiful in so many ways times of innocence and wondering. Kids dont know the meaning of that now sadly. Thanks for putting this video on. Its scary realising that Stacy Dorning is around my age now!! (

And so you should be. A truely classic theme tune, it really does feel as if that tune was composed for that particular horse.

Have just added a couple of series of this to my rental list - can't wait to see it again!

When I FINALLY got my first horse we still loved Black Beauty. My horse was brown and she got anothe name, but I remember gallopping over the fields with this theme in my head. Long time ago. BB is gone, so is my horse. My in my head they´re still gallopping....

Another example of escapist tv loved it, wish i could get in the bubble of nostalgia and stay there far better place to be
