I remember my one and only table top experience back in 2006. I was a six year old and my dad took me to his friend’s hobby store (his friend was the store owner) to play Flames of War. I was bored sitting around looking at things so I asked my dad If I could roll for him and he said no. Since I was just a toddler I started to cry over that, so my dad’s friend let me roll for him, I rolled mostly 6s and wiped out about 3-5 of my Dad’s crusader tanks. I remember it like yesterday with his friends telling I helped Darth Vader (since I was too young to know what nazis are and I was rolling for the Germans) because I betrayed my father and gave the Axis powers the win

Worst 40k tournament I ever took part in was a doubles tournament. My best friend and I entered together, his Imperial Fist and my Storm Warden space marines. Game 1: Played two other marine players; one with Blood Angels, the other Salamanders (though using Dark Angels minis) in an objective taking battle. We got to have one full game turn in the two and a half hour game length because the Salamanders guy argued EVERYTHING WE DID from moving minis, to shooting to rolling dice. And I don't mean rules bickering, he interrogated us as to why we were doing such things as moving our units and shooting at his. So when it's their 2nd turn, the announcers call that there's 30 mins remaining. So this guy deliberately stalls and does everything as slow as possible to drag out their turn that even his teammate scolded him. So when our turn arrives, they say there's a minute left to round up the games. So we ran everything we had up to contest the objectives. The Salamanders guy barks at us to stop moving and that the game is over. We ignored him and moved all our units. As soon as we've finished, they call time up. Salamander guy then calls over one of the staff and says we cheated. His teammate says no, we didn't but he continues to kick up a stink. So, fed up with his whining, we told the staff member we forfeit. If he wanted the win that badly, he could have it. We shook the hand of his teammate who apologized for his behavior and we wished him good luck (he was gonna need it and an infinite amount of patience to deal with that for another two games) Game 2: Played against a SINGLE opponent, who wandered in late and had no teammate...also no army. So they supplied him with 2k of Eldar. He really didn't know what he was doing and despite our efforts to be as sporting and helpful as we could to him, we tabled him in two turns. Not much else to add soo... Game 3: Played against ANOTHER solo opponent who also came in late (don't ask me why they didn't partner him with our 2nd opponent, we don't know either) and he had 1k of T'au so they loaned him another 1k, and he winds up with an army with two riptides and several crisis suits, broadsides and a lot of fire warriors. Despite the overwhelming odds in shooting, we managed to break through his lines and cut down one of the riptides and several suits and are holding strong. Then all of a sudden, as things are looking dicey for him, he forfeits. So he called over the staff and said he wanted to quit and the staff member said "Okay then...we'll call it a draw" My friend and I were gobsmacked. Usually when someone forfeits, they give all the points for that match to their opponent, that's what happened when we gave the victory to game 1's crybaby. He just shrugs and says "It wouldn't be fair on him, it's just a friendly tournament" A friendly tournament we had to pay to enter!!! Literally nothing good came out of it all. Worst tournament ever! Loved your video, man and will be subscribing to your channel to hear more. ^^

I think the funniest thing I've seen without it being cheese was in 5th when me and my opponent just started a new game. Turn 1, Top of Round 1, Dark Eldar (me) vs Salamanders (opponent). He deployed in a tight firing line on the table edge, land raider with terminator squad inside, Devastator squad and Dreadnought nearby, and a Techmarine behind the land raider. First shot of the round my raider pens the land raider and causes an explosion. One terminator instead dies, 1 Devastator died, the Techmarine took a wound, and the Dreadnought broke it's las cannon. We get to morale, terminators break and run right off the nearby table edge. The Devastors follow suit. In one shot, I've removed the land raider, the terminators, the devastators, wounded the Techmarine and crippled the Dreadnought. My opponent just looks at me and goes "Play again?".

My Best Tournament win was a few months after I reread the 2e rules cover to cover and the Guard Codex came out, I'd perfected my Sniping tactics since if you took out a General all models within 12 inches had to make a brake test (A rule no one used even if they remembered it), now Guard in 2e once they got their Codex had the Opening Bombardment rules, they got an off board barrage and all the Arty on the board got to fire in "Round 0", I'd target everything on the Army Commander and most armies could be in full rout in their first round, perhaps leaving a few Heroes, Elites and "Immune To Psychology" units to face my Tanks and Heavy Weapon Squads. anyway I Was at a Tornie fielding a 2K Guard army for the first time in tournament play, over the first two days of a 3 day weekend I won six of my 10 preliminary games, four of my wins where from killing army commanders in my opening bombardment, two more wins could be credited to the routing of half the enemy or bombardment casualties and an other draw. I was docked points for "Bad Sportsmanship" for deliberate targeting of enemy generals and rules exploitation and just missed the cut for the final eight for the Finals. the #8 guy came third, in the Quarters he faced the player I'd drawn with in the Prelims and in the Semi was up against a guy from one of the stores I went to, a player I'd never beaten who ended up with the Tornies Grand Prize. But I was happy of my wins considering it was a Shite army and I was at the time a fairly mediocre player who was just gaming the rules. If I'd played the finals I doubt I'd have made it past the Quarters.

Holy fuck this threw me through loop and basically nearly cost me the match. To make matters worst I was up against a guy with Khorne berserkers and was trying to rush me. I swear during this Tournament was so crazy because the despairs was destroying everyone during this, and I was one of two T’ay players during this when things went to shit, and I’ll tell you: despairing against either Khorne or Orks is very bad if you ask me

We had a 9th age tournament a while ago, where the custom rules said that you have to include a (Loose translation) "White albino monke" in your army list. That monke was a hero, that could not have been a spellcaster and you could not give it any special, nor even mundane equipment. And the monke had a points limit, so you could use only lesser characters as monke (Like elven Noble/Commander, instead of a Prince, or a Dwarven Thane/Engineer, instead of a King). It also had some special rules that gave the monke a lot of movement, ridiculous ward save against shooting, but also caused unit to take damage if the monke joined that unit. In the first game the monke had to escape. What counted as escaping was running through the entire fucking map diagonally. In the second game monke was supposed to return, but that required some bizzare conditions tat i honestly do not remember. And in the third game, the monke was supposed to perform a trick. You could decide, when the trick was to be performed. You then rolled the dice and: - You could get nothing. - The monke could get a machine gun. - The monke could teleport behind the enemy monke and aim a gun at her (forbids movements for both monkes). - The monke could explode and deal AoE damage. Was a fun tournament, not gonna lie.

A bunch of my chosen had powerfists and doom sirens so they could easily wipe out small tyranids at range or large tyranids in melee. (back then doom sirens worked like a flamer but also ensured the model would always strike first in melee. At the time powerfists would normally hit last and carried no "-1 to hit" penalty) My obliterators got caught in melee with a horde of termagants but managed to hold them up until the end of the game. That's one of the only two games I remember my obliterators surviving

Just found your channel recently, enjoying your content. I was in a tournament around 5th or 6th edition I think. (about 10-12 years ago now) The organizer insisted that we all turn in a copy of our army lists so that he could check them for correctness. I was playing Khorne World eaters with some summoned bloodletters and a Blood thirster as well. The tournament organizer's teenaged son was in the tournament as well. Ended up in the final round against the organizer's son who was playing Nurgle daemons, who apparently had been tabling all his opponents. This was around the time the codex's had options for unique war gear, typically 1 per army items. As we began the first round the Organizer's son started using some staff or something that allowed him to do special attacks that did D6 wounds automatically, but he apparently had them on all his psykers (3 in total). One of my best friends at that time played nurgle often and we bounced lists off each other often. Additionally, I had copies of most of the codexes and had daemons due to my inclusion of bloodletters and BT. I knew that the item in question was a unique 1 per army item. So I called over the organizer and asked how this was possible in that list, primarily because the kid I was playing said his dad had helped him build the list. He tried to BS me and said it is allowed in the codex. I pulled out my daemon codex and said, "please show me where, as I did not see it" The organizer got a bit pissed at that and said I was not allowed to reference codexes of other armies. I replied it was necessary due to my inclusion of daemons in my army, he got a bit red in the face and was trying to squirm out of the corner he was in. It also showed he hadn't really checked lists carefully at all. My friends at the tournament were all behind him laughing as they knew I had him dead to rights. He finally relented and agreed that there could only be 1 per army. I said fine, which character has it, so that we can both be sure of where the item is since it was an illegal list. The kid pointed out a psyker and we moved on, I eliminated the character with the staff the next turn and proceeded to table him. Won the tournament, and the organizer told me afterwards that I was not welcome at further tournaments that he put together. My friends and I (about 5 of us) proceeded to put the word out that this guy tried to cheat on behalf of his kid and from that point forward no one showed at their tournaments. I think someone reported him to GW too as I did not see him at any other events I participated in after that.

I have a story. I was playing Eldar 2nd Edition. I used a set of 2 (3x2)scout jet bikes, Back in second edition wargear was not specific to races. So I equipped them with Power Fists. Reached my 2 limit of Power Fist for the game. So here is where the strategy got banned in the region US - Indianapolis, In. So scout had a special rule where you could deploy them any where as long as it was not in the enemies deployment area. This was back when the table only had one setup. Each corner of the table has a 12inch x 12 inch area that was not deployment zone. We setup terrain 1 piece at a time. Each player got to set 1 terrain. Scouts on Jet Bikes near the deployment zone could swipe the enemy an clear any vehicles.

Yeah that is a good point that nobody wants to touch other people's models, so the switching control of armies isnt really a good twist. If the touching wasnt an issue, I wonder if there ever could be mind control/brainwashing abilities where miniatures become under control of an opposing player? Maybe it would need to be Kill Team or another ruleset like One Page.

My worst experience was when i played my Black Legion in a 3 round tournament 1st round i had a complete Whiner that just kept complaining about the rules, that i didn’t write after all. My army was OP and cheesy and all that… (it was a very balanced force actually) 2nd turn i had someone… well slow play doesn’t quite cut it. He was playing Orks, and he took a full hour for just his movement phase. And when i complained to a judge, they just shrugged 🤷‍♀️. I won that decisively because the game was over before he even reached my lines, and i won massively on Kill points. 3rd game took the cake however. I played a guard army with 3 huge rough rider cavalry squads. The whole army was unpainted, but most of the horses weren’t even properly assembled. He basically plaid with the bases and had plastic horses and riders lying as a pile on top somewhere… That was when i asked if he would get some kind of penalty for that. I knew that the tournament allowed unpainted armies, but that went a bit far. But the Organizer said it was okay. When we played, he constantly moved 1-2 inches too far. I called him out on it 3 separate times, nothing was done. Then he rolled an all important charge with one of his cavalry… heaps of models behind a building where i couldn’t see it. I think it was a single d6 charges back then, but cav got 2d6. He just said that it’s a 10, then picked up the dice before i even got to see it. When i protested that time, the TO told me that i had to pay better attention to my opponents dice. That’s when i told them to shove off and screw themselves. It was the final and i had a pretty safe 2nd place. I would even have won a prize, but i just packed my models and left. I said something along the lines of: You can shove your prize (a box of models) where the sun don’t shine, then give it to my honorable opponent, and that he should just play with the unopened box on the tabletop next time and make up rules for that. I learned shortly after that the Cavalry dude was the TO’s best pal or cousin or something…

oh...oh i gotta regale a story about daemon princes being T5... 6th edition, my tau vs a flying circus chaos daemons (lots of flying princes). As we know, tau suck balls at melee, however Commanders still had decent stats. I had a "buffmander" which is a commander kitted out with a bunch of relic stuff, since back then they could stack those things. Including the Onagar Gauntlet, or as i called it the Falcon Punch, since it was a 5pt upgrade anyway i usually had it for the lawls. Daemon price drops out of the sky and charges my buffmander, challenges him, and Smashes (3 attacks S10 Ap2, any single one of them would instaspork me). He whiffs 2 of them and i 4++ the 3rd. My turn. Falcon PUNCH!! One attack, hitting on 4s, wounding on 3s, S10 AP1. He failed his 5++. Buffmander 1shotted a daemon prince lol....in melee....

you want a one sided story? I have been playing against a world eaters player for the last few weeks. the First game that we played, I used Imperial Knights (I usually play them as Chaos Knights, but there is no iconography and I figured that his chaos marines could use the buff). Well anyway, I played a melee knight with the fights first WLT. He had 4 guns in his list. 1 gun on a demon prince, a plasma pistol on Kharn, and a combi bolter and a havoc launcher on a rhino. all he could do was charge units into my warlord. And. Each. Time. I got to fight first.

Honestly the parrying thing is not terrible but it probably should’ve been a bonus of some sort instead of just flat nullification. Like it would have made sense if the gaurds attacks heavily reduced other guards, but against big things like hive tyrants its just like +1 to armor save.

Worst tournament I ever played in was my first and last. Conflict 2007, 4th Edition 40k, hosted by Games Workshop. My first and second opponents were kids who cheated non-stop. Even though I politely called them out and even showed them the rules in the rulebook, they still continued to cheat and even called in referees because I was "being a bad sport". Both referees told me "they're kids. Cut them some slack". My third opponent was teenager who brought in an illegal list and when I immediately called in a referee the dick said "Not my problem, deal with it. Don't bother the referees again or we'll kick you out" and walked off. I told my opponent that I was forfeiting the game and he immediately told me "C'mon man, it's my first tournament. Don't be a spoil sport." To add insult to injury, all three of not only used their dice but mine as well, intentionally ignoring my requests of "please use your own dice". By the end of the tournament, more than half my dice were missing. Haven't played in a tournament since.
