The Prefaclift W220 S600 does have the worst Mercedes V12, the M137. But the facelift has a very reliable V12, the M275, only main issues are the coil packs, but the engine itself is great, even being used today in the Maybach S680 with updates, being named the M279

one of the most reliable engines i ever had m275 , i will not forget the smile in my face after every gas pedal push
Knowing that a car is very unreliable and requires costly preventative maintenance is one of the hardest parts of being a car enthusiast. These s600s and the e60 m5s are cars that i want to buy even though i know cant afford to maintain them. Lol

Yes the cost of maintaining the S class or any executive German car has inly gone up… we’re going to get this running and then let the next dreamer have it …it’s like walking on hot coals, keep moving quickly so you don’t get burned… too bad 🤣

@@AutoAfflictedIt's not only Executive premium cars. For example E class models parts, VW parts for B8 models and BMW have sky rocketed here in Europe. Owning even 2.0tdi can be costly if it starts to break.
I'd love if you got it! I have a broken one myself. (W221) The Pentosin didn't just disappear. I'd bet a high pressure line erupted somewhere while driving and the fluid drained. You can reach out to Gold Element Autoworks (Tell Brandon I sent you) and get coil overs and eliminate the ABC suspension. (Get a pump from a S430 for the power steering) Or rebuild the pump for $100 bucks or have someone else rebuild it for $350. You are only in it $1800. You'll be riding pretty with a $1500 invested. I had a Mercedes Benz S500 and love that car. The sag in the rear was from a disconnected air compressor hose that inflates the suspension on all four which was an easy fix. However if you plan to buy one of these beast, please upgrade the radiator because these idiots at Mercedes Benz decided to put the transmission coolant line right next to the radiator coolant lines and they will eventually corrode and transmission fluid will leak into your coolant system.

More episodes to come for sure - we might have found the abc leak and it might be a cheap fix , stay tuned
You didn’t “activate” the suspension btw - those buttons raise the suspension higher than regular ride height for more clearance, and firm the suspension in two settings of dampening, hard and harder. Not advised to drive on the bump stops.

as problematic as they can be... it's just so much damn car for the money, worst comes to worse you coil-over swap it like mentioned below. I'd also place my bets on a popped line but that can get tricky and expensive realllll fast so be wary, accumulators, the double pump, not a rabbit hole I'd jump in. BUT if you get lucky and it's just one obvious leak, you fix it and see if it holds. Chances are though, if it's the rubber lines, they should all be replaced just from age/mileage alone. BUT IT'S A V12 lolol someone DEFINITELY loved it to make it to 250k and still be in that good of shape. Good lucky my dudes, may those mermaids provide fun and laughter and not decimation of your crew and ships :)

Any car with 200k + miles will have its own problems especially with a car that has more features than a 2024 car. This one is 20 years old and has over 256k miles. It looks like it lived its life well and relailably. V12 is expensive to maintain, not a inline 3 prius. In my eyes its more relialable than any gm car v6 or inline4
