SHOCKER! but my amazing weekend bike getaway to Minneapolis, MN in early February didn't go as planned! But I managed to get some salvageable footage of me failing miserably, and who doesn't love watching other people suffer defeat? Enjoy!

Uff da, that's a tough one! But, you made the right decision. There's no reason to turn what should a fun ride into a suffering contest. Weird winter, too, with very little snow out your way. Rest up, feel better and make some more awesome videos for us all!
The fun thing is that every brevet /audax is exactly what the name suggests - a trial. Even if one has managed to finish the longer ones, it does NOT automatically mean the "shorter" ones will be easy. A DNF is never shameful!
Please don't do this to yourself again. If you got a cold rest up!------long time ago I was planning to do RAGBRAI. Then I had a kidney stone complicated by a urinary tract infection. I did the right thing and stayed home. But then a kidney stone feels worse than a common cold and that made the decision easy.
Smart decision to stop. Beats getting sicker and being down for a couple months. Nice footage & nice that everyone seemed to stay together for the most part.
200k in summer would already be a hudge challenge, but in winter it seems totally not feasible !! Heat management has to be a nightmare ! Congratulations for trying, and wish you success sometime!🎉
You went out and tried. That is more than I did sitting watching your video. 100% winner, keep tiring that's better than most. Keep up the good work get better.
Dude! Awesome getting to meet you. Really enjoyed that first 20 some miles, and glad you made it out safely. We finished strong at 126 miles with just over 10 hours total. Hope to catch you again this season!
Have been fighting bronchitis since mid-Dec. Every time I ride I feel awful the next day. I've finally conceded and have had to admit defeat and not ride until this is over.
I saw the group out riding . We’ve corresponded on the channel before if you’re ever back in town stop up at our shop in Circle Pines we have similar builds and business model for our shops . Hope you feel better 👍🏻
The only bad bike ride is the one you didn't start. Kudos to you for even getting on your bike in 33 degree weather, amazed at the lack of snow there. Those guys on the fixies are crazy doing 200k 😮. Get well soon!!
Get well soon ! Thanks for sharing this video.
Smart man !! Gotta know when to throw in the towel. Your body talks to you ; you just have to be willing and smart enough to listen !
It’s all good dude. BTW, you remind me of “Camping with Steve”. You’re both down to Earth.
I live 6 hours north of Minne. We have way more snow and ice. Looks like spring or fall there.

the Deep North! We barely had winter down here in Wisconsin. We got 14" in a weekend, followed by a week or so of sub-zero temps. It's been super mild ever since. Minneapolis had the same, but without the snowstorm. Very strange, and I'm definitely not complaining!
Really pretty scenery and I loved the music you chose. Hope you’re feeling better and back on the bike soon.
Love the ride vids, especially in my home state of MN. Where did you start from this time? Hope you get well soon. I'm 60, just retired last week, and my Surly Bridge Club is ready for adventure. Life is good. Ride on.
Great to see some new content! It's been a minute!
You made a good run of it in February, still look like a little bit of fun, I have no issues with fixed gear setups but it didn't really make a lot of sense to me that kind of journey I'm not sure how people ride like that
Thanks for bringing us along even on a DNF. Did the guy who parked next to you finish his first Brevet?

Get better soon brother….! That looked like it would’ve been a great ride for some zen. That’s what I need for myself.
Indeed, kudos for trying. Looked like a beautiful ride and do it again next year.
Hope you're feeling better!
I’ve been thinking about those Tri Eye glasses. That mirror isn’t too close? Seems like they would be difficult to use.
I used to live right behind the Whole Foods there, cool to see my old neighborhood! Get well!
Hope you are feeling better soon! Nice footage though!
Hopefully you get well soon, Greetings from germany 😊👍
Nice ride..sorry you pulled up sick wise move...but it is what it is ..get well soon.. Awesome content watching from Queensland Australia 116 deg F...47cel...
Feel better❤
I have to say that I liked seeing people riding bikes with personality. I haven't done group rides in a long time but many riders seemed like they just picked up their bikes from a shop yesterday. Nothing interesting or unique about them.
Taker easy man ! Nice work.
get well !
good on ya ! great content.

Clint Eastwood?
You did the right thing. No sense in tearing yourself up.
BikeFarmer, I would say to drink some electrolytes, like Gatorade. If you're sick, the vitamins and minerals will be needed, as your body will use just as much minerals and nutrients as it would riding healthy. That being said, I recommend the following for a cold: A Hot Totty. Basically, a tea of some kind, mixed with honey, lemon, and a shot of at least 80-proof alcohol, like Jack Daniels or Jameson Irish Whiskey. Relatedly, one of the best treatments for the throat is actually adding honey to tea. Lastly, get some rest. Your body fights off sickness and colds better when you sleep.

Honestly the best thing for electrolytes is water Gatorade can dehydrate you because the amount of salt I only know that cuz I used to work construction for 15 years but salt is really good to keep in your backpack for cycling or even running because it can't help you retain water as well that's why you see a lot of military guys during like Navy SEAL hell week or something like that they'll put salt on their wrist and lick it it helps them retain water when they have very little water out in the battlefield my mom's also retired trauma nurse

I'm in Mississippi about hour way from Oxford where ole miss plays hotty toddy is where that's from lol 🤣
get well soon!
Greetings from a fellow rando! Sorry about the DNF, it happens to the best of us :) I have a question regarding your filming setup on the bike. What equipment do you use? Do you have a mount for your camera that is attached to your bike? Do you have a separate camera that you can move around and take those rear facing shots? What camera(s) and mic are you using? Love the channel, keep them coming!
You still had the coolest bike though. Probably.
Kudos for sure. Been there, done that. Heal.
Even Chris Horner says don't ride sick. Not worth it.
Well crap. Oh well, there'll be others. Hope you get over the crud soon.
Bummer sorry about that.
Thanks for posting the DNF. Get well soon and keep farming.
I'm more of a mountain biker I like the trails and and stuff I'm just getting back into it I was thinking about getting the Ozark trail from Walmart I seen a couple reviews on it and if you take it home and tighten everything up and reassemble stuff
What kind of speed do you adv on a ride like that when you feel better?
It’s not worth getting any sicker. Take care!
Get well soon.
Rest up! More rides this year...
oh no! feel better. health first and all else is bike.
I grew up on the wabash trace trail in council bluffs iowa my highschool went right in front of the trail head start but imma get back into biking after uears of being sober and clean wanna get in shape but i dont knowbwhich mt bike to get i can qork on them myself have all the tools ive seen goodnrwviews on ozark trail from walmart inknow its a big box store setup but on berms channel hebsaidnifnu can reassemble it and tighten it good decent start bike also can up grade to dropper post and what not

Townes Van Zant tee shirt 😊😊😊
Did you do a COVID-19 test? it wouldn't be a bad idea, I have the vaccine but got it at the end of march last year after getting a part time job (housekeeping at a hotel, I got switched to janitor at the same hotel in June and I like that better), it started as a runny nose then a couple days later I had a headache and felt cold all the time even with warm clothes on, I took some medicine for the headache and went to work but I was only there for about an hour before it came back and I asked to go home, I did a test and it was positive so I let them know and stayed home for 2 weeks, my grandma and great grandma got sick after I was fine so I stayed with my mom for a couple weeks and she was taking me to work and picking me up when I was done, I didn't ride any bikes the whole time I knew it probably wasn't good to do that when I was sick and I didn't want to leave the house and get strangers and neighbors sick either so I just played video games the whole time until everyone wasn't sick anymore (I would have ridden a bike when I was staying with my mom but I left it at home and the 4 I had out there were very broken until I pulled them out of the weeds and started working on them later in the year), for anyone wondering what I played I bought the premium add-ons bundle for forza horizon 5 on my Xbox one S and completed a bunch of stuff in the base game and mostly finished the hot wheels DLC I also played RDR1 Fallout 3/NV and oblivion GOTY edition through backwards compatibility.
Oh well. The sun still rose the next day. Did “New Guy” finish? I hope so.

Well shoot! Sorry buddy. Anything cool at the swap?
Love u used DNF, F1 terminology!
0:10 whats the story with the guitar? care to play on film?
Don't beat yourself up chap, I pulled a DNF on the London to Brighton halfway through due to injury. Luckily it happened not far from where I lived but I was still utterly gutted. Hey ho, chin up
Kudos to having the ability to know when it's quitting time - sometimes we just can't control all the variables, eh? Sidenote - anybody wearing a Townes tee is a friend of mine, so rest up, friend!
Knowing when to quit lets you ride another day.
Too bad the ride didn’t work out for you🙁
Glad you knew your limits. You sound terrible! Get well soon!
Miles?

Get healthy - lots of riding coming up around Wisconsin. You can’t get COVID if you don’t test for it
While I am not a connection to any medical team some Vic’s in a humidifier with some rest works wonders at our house.
not even the trusty dork disc could prevent this we have all had em rides that go tits up get well get farming
Nothing better than the old college try. No shame in your performance…I call it a good decision. Nice Try!
Stop traveling - that's 0 for 2 this year .... you are supposed to be in your shop 20 hours a day and filming for us- and our gratification!!!!!it's all about us farmers -24/7!!!!!(hahahahahahaha!)--
