Vancouver will ALWAYS have the biggest homeless and drug problem in Canada, because of the climate. Homeless can actually survive on the streets in Vancouver. What bothers me is that neither the Federal or BC govt' care enough to properly deal with the issues, so it just gets worse. Removing tent cities isn;t the solution.

You can't deal with these problems and these people using democracy or freedom. Call in Communists or Talibans, they fix these in a day.

There were poor streets in them days too. They just knew better than to flaunt it. More people more homeless. Especially when it costs $3000. A month for a 1 room apt. Times are tough.

I feel so lucky living in Australia. I have never seen views like the video shows. I know that all countries have an ugly side, but here in Oz it's more controlled and you don't see so many homeless people like in this Vancover video. It's sad to see those poor souls. Everyone has a story to tell and I see them with respect no matter what. I hope the Vancouver government do something to fix it and soon.

Remove them from the streets. If they don’t want to come then force them. Drugs and corruption, mentally challenged people need to be put into places away from society. Offer choices but if they don’t want it, then remove them entirely. A difficult situation but enough is enough. I know this area very well and others similar. It’s time to take back our cities.

Canada's only possible solution to Homelessness is to gather all the homeless people across Canada grouped in one place, for example, in Toronto or Vancouver Don't let them wander into every other location and stay on the sidewalks. If you see homeless people, dump them all in Vancouver or anywhere with a good climate. There needs to be a place to accept those homeless people to be put and be allowed to live. Similarly, the garbage that has landfills to dump enough rubbish and segregate combustible from non-combustible waste so you can recycle usable items by type, likewise to people, cautiousness if the people are contagious, separate the bad from the good people and ordinary people. Separate the sheep from the goats. Matthew 25:31-46

Every country around the world seems to have a large share of the homeless. Some cities in the U.S. are building tiny houses for them to eventually purchase. That sounds like a plan.

I remember the sixties and what avibrant shopping district this was....but the death knell was in the 80's with the closing of Riverview....then the striping of all of the supports that were supposed to accompany that closing....and it was both the NDP and BC Liberals that did this...both are to blame.

That’s ridiculous. These mentally ill drug addicts need confinement in specialized places with those trained in dealing with their issues. Many of these people are extremely dangerous. The public needs to be protected from them and those who deal with them need to be assured safety while doing that. Time to bring back involuntarily commitment to appropriate institutions.
