WORST PADDLE OUT EVER AT 25ft NORTH SHORE SANDBARS

This was by far one of the worst paddle out ever! Me ‪@JJF‬, ‪@eli_olson‬, Ivan, and Brandon attempt to paddle out at a huge sandbar right next to pipeline and it doesn't go so well, only a couple of us could make it out, thanks for watching!

Only other person that seems to have THAT level of comfort in super heavy water is Kelly- and I ain’t trying to jock ride either of them, but that’s just the truth. Anyone that surfs knows the amount of stamina that must’ve taken to get out to the lineup on this day. This is such a good video to learn things as a surfer. From the raw footage, you can see the reality of surfers and how to approach getting out the back. Mostly, you can't just get in there nilly willy and hope you will get lucky. It takes timing, microadjustments, and being sharp and have strong pushes from the start. Even if you are those things, only 2 made it through. Then the video goes on and shows how to approach if you didn't make it. You get out (don't stay in), and get a view again from the beach where the rips are, where to get inn recharge, and go again (there is zero shame in that, look at Ivan smiling like he is having fun even though he couldn't get through, amazing mindset to have, given what he just went through). These boys make it all look like natural, but there are so many things you can pick up in this video as a progressing surfer. If you can't get out the back just about anywhere, how do you expect to become a surfer ready for al types of adventures.

Editing, or lack thereof, makes it feel like your watching a home video. So feels very intimate; like you’re hanging with your buddies. I’m new to the channel so we’ll see if that starts getting old. What I definitely like is I’m getting to see the true experience of a professional surfer. Like having real issues paddling out (I thought that only happened to me), fighting for waves, dealing with flat days, etc. Most surf videos simply show barrel after barrel after barrel. Which is cool, but not representative of the true experience. Confirms my experiences are normal for everyone.

Koa I know from bertcast you don’t consider yourself up to John’s level but you looked smoove as butta out there. That looked so knarley, I’m used to seeing that kind of storm slop in NJ but not in Hawaii. Kudos, and I can’t wait for the podcast!

Even I have my limits....days like this ...I sit and watch...it takes every ounce of human strength to make it out on days like this...I'm to old now...that's for the complete athletes....just clean 6ft all day with light offshore...that's where it's at for me...hats off to you guys for making it out.. amazingly committed....I was there once...God bless you all...
