Those pop art prints are great. I would get them all, take them out of the ugly frames, and sell them as a set for $100. Then you can just roll up and ship them off.

Regardless, for a store who receives a majority of the supplies/ items by donation I feel like there should be a price cap. The premise for buying second hand was supposed to be affordability. Training and all of the programs developed came later on. Goodwill, Salvation Army and all of the thrift or resell stores should be grateful for the donations and stop being so greedy! I am well aware that they have overhead and employees and all the things, it would be nice if they could just for once consider the consumers that make the businesses function and thrive! Without us there would be NO them! Happy Holidays everyone and have safe travels wherever you find yourself this holiday! Stay safe Karen and Roger and Merry Christmas you love birds ❤

I spoke with an associate that works at Goodwill, regarding there pricing. She told me it’s the store Manager that determines what the prices are. So each store manager sets the prices? She said yes. So, this is why 1 Goodwill has low prices, verses the one in the next towns prices that are much, much higher.

I’ve been told by the highest management that independent pricers are brought in and train employees giving that individual pricer bonuses for how many of their items sell with the highest price. So exact items can be priced differently depending on which pricer set the price

@@lavenderclotheslinewhen you’re at the register and an item you want to purchase doesn’t have a price sticker. The Goodwill’s I visit in CT have to get a manager to tell them what to charge me. If the people who work there are trained in pricing they should be able to do this on their own. Also, I remembered, I’ve seen, when someone is in an isle shopping, and theirs no price, an employee has to go get a manager for a price.

No Holds Barred: is a wrestling term. Back when I wrestled in high school we were prevented from using certain holds on our opponent. Choke holds are often among holds that are outlawed (barred). So, to wrestle with No Holds Barred simply means no rules and the phrase’s usage has become common and means: No Restrictions.

Art Frames: as you stack, transport and store framed art (such as the framed linen pair) I suggest you stack them front to front and back to back, to limit additional wear. If you stack them all in the same direction, the framing and hanging hardware on the back of 1 rubs directly against the front of another. When I shelf them, I use cardboard sections or foam board pieces between each piece to prevent additional wear.

  • @brianhenry2385

The next group (cat/dog) of frames show just what I mean. That kind of wear and scratching results from moving them around. The hardware on the backs causes the damage.

@@lavenderclothesline Yes, so so true. I cringe every time I see them stacked that way in one of your videos They both present better and are easier to see when the store uses some sort of hanging system. I store mine upright, separated with cardboard. I think your wax idea has merit for trying to undo the damage inflicted by the store staff and store customer's handling. I suspect they were in much better shape when they were donates. I have passed up on a lot of nice art over the years because of frame damage. Happy Holidays and enjoy your Vaca to FL.

  • @brianhenry2385

    @brianhenry2385

    6 ай бұрын

True that painting the frames can hide a lot of sins. I myself used to do my own matting and framing, to increase the appeal of the art I found at estates and storage units (back when my business model was clearing large quantities), but as Karan has said in the past that the way some stores chose to re-sell art is a shame, while others display them so well on art walls. I suspect that if more stores handled and stored them better they would see a notable increase in both the prices art brought and number of sales. They would sell more to those folks who aren't looking for more projects.

The bull dog print was the best of the lot. 200 is the number of lithograph prints made, so it was a limited print ( not made out of a copier or photographed). Under 500 is a medium lot. Under 100 is a small lot. The top number is which order the print was made. Lower numbers are worth more because they tend to be cleaner and sharper prints. Later numbers are worth a little less because of potential blurring and color bleeding. There are also AP - Artist print, which is when the artist checks the print as quality control. ❤

I’ve had a brick and mortar store and that’s what I had done and the word got out my prices were better than goodwills and my items were always like new condition and my store was clean and had friendly staff. But I had to retire early, I do miss having a business. And it’s sad to see how some thrift stores are gouging prices. As they are donate items. And mine were not donated, plus I would also offer to purchase items from private sellers. That’s my rant for the day lol hope you have a great day and happy holidays to you and yours💜

I find the selection is better at donation center stores as opposed to the stores that have to get trucks from the donation centers. Our Goodwills here price clothes at a flat price and hardgoods are usually priced pretty low when compared to the other thrift stores in the area.

I dont know if I would wax the frames, just rub some paint on it. Once there is wax its hard to paint over, dont take long to paint a frame❤

Watching an interesting video Ralli Roots from 5 days ago about 16 minutes in (sitting in car), they are discussing why they think Goodwill's prices are so high and how managers, etc. are paid. If you watch the entire video, you will see some of the outrageous prices at other "thrift" stores.

I would have bought all of the signed dog and cat prints personally. Maybe find another piece in there that had a good frame and buy it too. Then gone home and switched out the frames. There's always Michael's and Hobby Lobby for frames too. I actually may end up with a lot of prints here that are going to need frames so this may work for me too. Buy stuff at Goodwill etc. just for the mats and frames. Way cheaper than buying it new.

The Goodwills near me have high prices also. I have seen household things with original prices more than half of the goodwill price. Dollar tree plastics at $3.99. Seriously ridiculous. Also, when you look up items on eBay, do you filter for the sold items? I couldn’t tell, but that will give sold prices, not just list prices. Nice video. Thank you!
