Worst. Fuel Economy. Ever.

I just don't know what's causing it at this point.
I somehow managed to get myself partnered with First Manufacturing Co, so if you need leather jackets, vests, gloves, or anything else they sell, here's a code for 25% off at firstmfg.com - 1CHASE_N

Best video ever..39 per gallon, about average for most big bores. But the best is riding adventure, fully loaded to get soup ingredients, nothing says Harley Davidson off road reputation, cream and milk!! Badass

So few know the rigors of cooking. It's truly the realm of only the toughest men. Even worse, I had to ride 3 miles on treacherous gravel to get that cream and milk. Yeah, I get a 1000 yard stare at the mere mention of a crockpot, but somehow, I carry on. Thank you for recognizing how hardcore I am and for watching!

Besides the 1st 3 weeks. I've had those bags on my Pan Am. Trust me, I'd believe they were the culprit if I hadn't got over 50MPGs and averaged 48-49mpgs with them attached for what's approaching a year now. Honestly, It's just weird. Thank you for watching!

Ohhffffff... That is bad! Because of your videos I've started tracking my mileage. The two times I was in the lower 40s. I was feeling really bad compared to what you were getting before. I was wondering if it was my riding, longer distances in the 75-80 MPH range. Maybe it's the winter gas and it will improve through the summer...

It's likely a combination of things and it'll improve, Winter gas is the main culprit I think, everyone who rides in the Winter has told me they dropped at least a few MPGs when the changeover starts. Good on you for keeping track. I found a long time ago it's a way to get a heads up/warning that something may be wrong that you can't see or hear on a vehicle. Thank you for watching and it's good to hear someone else is getting out there on their Pan Am!

Dude, i swear, i've learned to try and not stuff as much in as i can because i heard it mess's with the vacuum in the tank....

Eds You are correct sir . Once the pump clicks once DO NOT FORCE any more fuel in the tank. That also applies to modern autos as well.if the evap system gets wet soaked it will cause issues. Only vapors from the fuel tank are to be scavenged by the evap system then routed to the intake to burned in the engine .

I've always filled my bikes the same? I always stop before the weep hole on the filler neck leaving plenty of room for a little expansion or contraction. I know older H-Ds didn't have vented gas caps, but newer ones do.The Pan Am is vented so I'm not sure how it can mess with the vacuum in the tank? I've had the tank off to service the air filter and it's definitely not "sealed", I spilled gas taking it off, pretty sure it was an overflow hose. I've also checked my tank on a hot day and not had anything resembling pressure from gas fumes pour out either. Thank you for the tip, and for watching, now it's something I'll have to look in to.

@@Chase_N yeah, just give a shot, i just stop mine when it clicks off and it says my range is like 270 miles lol, I know I'm not going to get that much because at about 240 I am out....

I’d only use gas from a Top Tier brand. Who knows what gas the Stab n Grab has in their tanks.

I've been using the same gas, same octane (93), from the same BP since I bought the bike. No stab and grabs for me😉 Thank you for watching!

@@Chase_N It has to be the winter gas then. Or you’re on the throttle a lot more as it gets warmer.

@@aucklandsadventures This fill up was November, it was 45*F (7*C), I wasn't on the gas, trust me. I think you're right though, it's likely the winter gas.

I recently took my 2022 PAS on a 200 and change ride averaging 60 to 70 mph steady speed and got 48.3 mpg average. Of course now its May 7th. That ride was the last weekend in April. So give us a current update now that its Spring. My mileage was down during the winter months as well.

I'm pretty sure it's a combo of Winter Gas and the ECM updates. My MPGs have improved recently, but not to my previous average of 48-49-50mpgs. Thanks for the share on your MPGs, another data point is always useful for everyone! It sounds as if we're all experiencing the same thing. Also, thank you for watching and I'll try to get a newer update on fuel economy posted in the next week or so!

I'm pretty sure it's the winter gas here in Ohio (this was filmed in the winter after all). The stuff is terrible, my fuel economy has been getting better since the end of April and I'm hoping it will improve to previous levels the closer we get to actual Summer. I'm going to ask my local gas station owner when they switched over between Winter & Summer gas though so I can prepare myself for the MPG loss next year. Thank you for watching!
