Homemade backyard catamaran Kaleidoscope, built by one man. This video represents me designing my home made backyard boat build. Custom 100ft catamaran, from concept to completion in 5 years, single handed in my back yard. Cutting it into 7 pcs, placing them on 7 oversize truck loads for transporting to the ocean. Reassembly in 6 hrs. in the water. Sea trials, first trip to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. Time laps video going through the Panama canal. I will be breaking up the process by volumes, Please subscribe and share to see the next videos. Leave comments below. Thanks for watching. I will answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

I can't believe one man with no engineering or carpentry experience could built such a huge project. We are talking genius level human being. There are no words to comprehend such a concept.

A man that invented sanding machines to build the boat no one else could build in their yard, bro you are a legend. Those sand robots he’ll be even richer than you obviously already are.
A real authentic built in America feel. This guy could sell it for loads with just that as a title alone. Good job!
This is the single biggest most impressive home build on the internet! Have to see it to believe it
I lived in Canyon Lake at the time of your build. I met you & got a tour when you had the hulls payed & had just installed the Detroit Diesels. Glad to see it has become an internet sensation Love from NC 🇺🇸

I think you can go aboard for a cruise I think they charter out of Mexico. The rest of the story is even more incredible but I wont spoil it for you,
Wow! I loved this! Brings back great memories working with my Dad. Best time of my life. We built a 30ft timber “go fast” boat from scratch. Took molds off of it and produced sport boats and centre consoles. Like you, we had no straight lines and all compound modern curves. I’m so impressed with your build. One tip I’ll pass on for others to make the fairing of the filler or “bog” easier is to use a notched trowel. You get a large foot long or so rectangular trowel such as you would work or screed cement flat with. You take a rectangular file and file notches roughly about an inch apart about a quarter inch deep. You then use that edge to apply your filler. You end up will endless triangular or pyramid shaped lines all over the hull, fine at the top and wider at the base where it’s stuck to the boat. When you use your long “torture board” for fairing there’s very little resistance from the filler as the lines are spaced apart and fine in area where the sanding board touches them. You fair the area quickly and come back later with the other edge of the trowel that’s straight and apply more filler to fill in between the lines. This takes a lot of the back breaking work out of knocking down vast areas of filler. Another tip is to mix paint tint in with your filler if you are going back over areas, it stops you rubbing through already worked areas. I must say Sir I was so impressed with your fairing reflection. That doesn’t happen by accident. A job very well done. All the very best to you, Cheers 🍻
I went on your boat when it was doing sunset cruises in Cabo (1998). You told my buddy and I about building it. It was a rough sea, we went in the Sea Of Cortez that evening. What a great boat.
I think you have a guy named Noah in your family tree. This is beyond amazing. Superhuman!
Wow . Not very often I am totally lost for words . Unreal, amazing. I love to build unusual stuff , but man have you taken things to a surreal level . Workmanship is amazing. Please keep the videos coming. I am 100% blown away .
You make me embarrassed for my "big" home projects! Great and inspiring work!
The story of how this boat was stolen from this hard working man is so heartbreaking and even after he got it back he ended up having to sell it is so sad. He truly is a amazing builder and person.

Wow... Just wow. This entire video is a story of a masterpiece, but the video is a masterpiece in and of itself. The entire time i felt a sense of nostalgia and liminal space, like I was witnessing someone else's dreams... even had me going "wow" out loud a few times. What a wild experience. This guy definitely has money. He just elected to not spend it on someone doing the work he could do himself. Material and logistics alone would be in the millions. Not to mention the construction time he spent where most people would be having to work a day job.

Absolute madness! And i've designed/built lots of things myself, but nothing even close to that scale, lol. I tried to build a bike/boat once and it sucked, too many problems. This guy is next next level and with a pretty big budget too

I absolutely can't wait to see this story!!! I also can't believe I didn't hear about it back when it was happening. ABSOLUTE RESPECT!
I used to be a ship builder for General Dynamics. Learned so much for the years that I spent on the shipyard(s) in new construction and in Navy repair. Had helped repair the USS Coronado which was an aluminum combat vessel. I was apart of the hull repairs and ripouts, installing new frames, stiffners, bulk heads and decks. So much goes into design and engineering. Your a badass for sure! you did this all alone from your drawings, to your concept model, and then actually going to town and building in the fashion that you did and under those dry desert conditions! Insane! You are the G.O.A.T 🐐
Only 1 man built this in only 5 years?! Hard to believe. The custom sanders are brilliant! If I had $1 dollar for every time I said "WOW" out loud, I could probably afford to buy this work of art!

A true "pipe dream come to life. My pipe dream would be buying a ship yard. Maximize the potential. Using the profits to finance my tri-maran after all the bills are paid.
I've watched this a few times now over the last couple years... what a piece of structural artwork. I've always wondered what the neighbors thought as this project moved along.
Wow ! what a life well lived. A focused person going to the beat of their own drum. On the ups and downs of the "ocean that is life". He did not argue with the winds and set his sails accordingly, When the winds blew for him - great. When against him he zig zag tacked with tactics to get where he wanted to be. Using his rudder,(values, ethics virtues, know how) and stear to his plotted planned course, around all the hazards and obstacles life has for us all. I take my hat off to you sir. More power to you and those that follow your chosen cause.
