World Trade Center wtc mall before it was destroyed 9/11/2001

The Mall in 1999, WB store near the N & R subway entrance.
Prior to September 11, the mall had been leased to The Westfield Group, who had intended to rename the mall Westfield Shoppingtown World Trade Center, and embark on a major expansion and renovation program. Plans called for the addition of 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2) of new mall space and a few well-known sit-down restaurants.

Do you guys realise how big the world trade center actually was, it was like a city in it's self, it had it's ow subway system, it's own mall, it's own wedding chapel, it's own restuarant, it's own observation decks, it had a lot of stuff underground/floors, it had generating rooms, it had 7 buildings, it had it's own hotel, it's own police station, truck docks, it had it's own zip code, it was a whole 16 acers of property, about 200,000 people were there daily. I wouldn't be suprised if it was the second largest office complex in the world. and now all of that is gone.

ffdztdr The towers had a combined mass of 2.2 billion lbs. They also had foundations that went 70 ft down, anchored to bedrock. That was built inside of a 'bathtub' and thereby solved any flooding problems. What happened to it?

Funny thing is, even though I had never been to this mall nor was aware it actually existed, I had a dream once that I was in the World Trade Center Mall on 9/11, knowing what would happen that day, and scrambling to the subway among the crowd of busy people before the first plane hit. Even odder, the mall in my dream, which I didn't know actually existed, didn't look too far off from the real thing.

I once had a dream where I was in the North Tower when the first pane hit. I got out, and ran away, and soon after I watched the second plane hit the other one. Everything looked exactly like how it was shown on TV, the only difference is that the inside of the building I was in (WTC1) was way far off. I didn't know what the inside looked like at the time. I was born in 2003.

That being due to the painful memories rebuilding them almost exactly the way they were obviously would have caused for many.

Aaron McGee absolutely nothing can be done to stop another 9/11 from happening other than make the building stronger, even with all the security what’s stopping a terrorist from getting a job as a pilot, these terrorist take long years to plan their attacks.

@@Galidorquest We cannot stop another 9/11, but we can have enough safeguards and designs in place to where at least not as many lives will be lost. Even today, lives are still lost due to the dust following the collapses. Just not building the tower out of toxic materials cuts the death toll greatly.

Some of the people walking through might be in their 60's now. The guy with the bald spot at 0:10 is definitely older than that. But the Mom (assuming she isn't the kid's sister) looks way too young to be a Baby Boomer... She looks like she was probably born in '75 if she gave birth to her son in or '94 or '95, no younger than 19... Which means the parents were probably about 24 in this footage and the kid was probably going on 4 or 5. Basically speaking, the parents are probably about as old as Angelina Jolie or Leonardo DiCaprio and the kid is about as old as Justin Bieber or Logan Paul.
