Also, it's hilarious that someone blurred out the word "Duracell" because Duracell didn't pay them money for advertising, but even a baby squirrel can recognize the "copper top" color scheme. Squirrels love Mr. T. The Mr. T doll is probably the reason that the squirrel is alive today.

I used to immaturely side eye people who would pick up random stray animals that needed help. I would always joke that they're "crazy." Were you breastmilk intolerant? I was wondering if the squirrel was intolerant to the supplemental feeding as opposed to its mother. I tried saving abandoned tiny mice with goat milk since it was more tolerable. (baby mice are extremely hard to save and heartbreaking when they don't make it, but I have to try anyway)

@@oranjwon4437 yep! parents noticed the same thing, I wasn't putting on weight the way a baby should have so they went to the doctor! I had to have the fancy stuff with basically no added ingredients which I'm still kind of like to this day~

Rocky's human mother is a genius! By diagnosing him as lactose intolerant, she saved his life. Watching him run into the wilderness at the end was both happy and sad. I hope he visits his human again and again.

Kudos to you for helping that baby squirrel ❤. My grandmother actually became friends with a squirrel many years ago and named him pickles. Every day when my grandparents would sit outside pickles would come to her waiting patiently for his food. He was so precious. ❤

I recently rescued what turned out to be a 2 week old flying squirrel. All I did was keep it from being thrown away by this lady at the dog park, kept it warm and find the right people. I was told he was doing fantastic and expected to make it. Kudos to you for knowing what to do and how to help!

That’s key. Find an actual rehabber who can make sure they’re feeding the right foods. They can get MBD if not getting enough calcium. Do not feed tilted back because of the risk of aspiration, etc.

I was lactose intolerant, too, and after 70 years I still vividly remember those horrible times. If it weren't for Nutramigin which was one of the 1st formulas for babies like me, I don't what I'd have had to eat !!! So a double big Thank you for this smart and empathetic woman who not only loved and cared for Rocky, but also diagnosed his condition. Hope he brings his family by to say hi and thanks again one day.

Omg I rescued a baby grey squirrel who was being tortured by teenagers and named him Rocky! He had pneumonia, but pulled through and is a huge healthy squirrel who comes home to eat every day and brings friends lol

I've never heard of a lactose intolerant squirrel this is a first. But I'm glad you found him and took care of him and now he's out there in the big world.😊

You needed to use a heating pad on low if you ever take care of a tiny little one again or you can suspend a light bulb over him from a wall bracket, that is what we do for tiny toy puppies they can’t maintain their body heat without a mother laying next to them or an artificial source. We use a thermometer too so we don’t get it too hot. Look up the recommended temperature.

This is the luckiest squirrel on the face of the Earth! I mean: 1. To have been accidentally found by a dog who, let's face it, could have killed the little guy if he had picked it up and shaken it or something; 2. The dog's foster mom deciding to intervene and get him help; 3. Rocky's foster mom, who recognized his lactose intolerance, confirmed her suspicion, got the right formula for him and never gave up; and 4. Rocky himself, who had such a strong will to live! How rewarding to see him healthy and happy, with his bright eyes and beautiful red coat, being able to go back into the wild and, hopefully, live a long squirrel life! ❤❤❤

That was me as a baby! Sort of. I don't know if I was specifically lactose intolerant, but according to my parents, I couldn't have milk, so I was fed soy milk. Strangely enough, I grew out of it by the time I was 3 or 4. But I can still empathize with Rcoky. So great to see this little guy thriving.

I'm so glad that you cared for him, AND, more so, that you released him!! :) :) (I was worried about this, watching the video..) Squirrels belong in the trees, as you say... **This squirrel is intolerant to COW'S MILK, as all squirrels are, no doubt. :) Just as the large majority of human beings cannot properly digest cow's milk. The moral of the story: each species can tolerate the breast milk from their own mother, and own species. (No species is meant to drink the milk of a different animal. ) Kudos for your kindness and care!!
