One of the commentators is Dr Terry Todd of the University of Austin. He was a professor of kinesiology and so much more. He wrote the first book on powerlifting that made any kind of sense. His 1978 book " inside powerlifting" became the Bible of the sport for many years. Terry Todd was the first man to powerlift 2000 lb for a total. His wife was the world's strongest woman Jan Todd. Jan became the first woman to squat and to deadlift over 500 lb each. She set all the records for the 150 lb to 160 lb weight class in women's lifting. Jan Todd is also one of only four women to lift off the ground the famous Denni Sones in Great Britain. The stones are over 750 lb combined. She was so far ahead of her time strengthwise, that her numbers are world-class for raw lifts today.

Cleve Dean might be one of the biggest guys I've ever seen. Shoulders are massive. He's one of those guys thats just genetically going to be big. His brother didn't get the height he stood at 5'10 but was 225 pounds. Just big people.

Don Reinhoudt was certainly one of the strongest men to ever walk the earth. His humility was incredible. What a pleasant soul he was.

The strongest people are the longest-lived people. These guys rarely make it past 80. It is only common sense that people that big are going to be stronger than people much lighter.

Kolb was always regarded as one of the strongest players in the NFL in his time. In this competition he was smaller compared to the other athletes, but did extremely well.
