The overdrive is good for stability but you may be creating drag on the rear which could theoretically be slowing you down

I agree, with one drive spinning faster, it's loading it up due to it having to push the underdriven end. I wonder if that overdrive motor was hotter than the other? On another note, im super invested on watching this build evolve!! Snowboard Basher is the most epic of them all!! Keep it up Kev!!

This is awesome. You knocked together a ridiculous chassis on a lark, and have created what could be the go to format for an off road speed run car. You might have started something. The wheelbase and weight are key, and it does handle surprisingly well.

Facts. The smaller and more scaled rc cars get, the more twitchy they become as they still mimic similar width to length (wheelbase to track width ratio). Even though they'd look odd, an extra long wheelbase works wonders for stability.

Funny you say that real land speed car's can be heavy and it keeps them stable as long as the air can flow around it without lifting it

Keep same transmission ratio front and rear. It's robbing a lot of power and speed with different ratios,specially with off road tires on grass. You can keep balooning tires on the rear to compensate at high speed,but the car is so long that it's stable enough already.

There being two seperate motors running them kinda negates the disadvantages of running different gearing

I think equal gearing on both motors is a must. You might be overworking the front one and just adding drag.

Kevin your on to something using wooden skate decks as a chassey. Seriously maybe not long but they endure more then the best chasseys including carbon fiber . Try a Powell Peralta classic deck with the XT logo because they have carbon fiber layers and wood. Very inspiring 😉

Fun series!..The length of that car makes me think of a Dachshund..It would be hilarious if you had a body that looked like one!..lol...I love all of your video's!

I love how you inadvertently discovered what I think will be a huge trend in the RC car community by initially just making a goofy meme car. It works so well that it very well could be the first documented RC car to do 100+ MPH on grass! and I mean proper grass like you test on in your videos, not a golf green mowed down to half an inch or something.

Kev, I think you need to get the gearing the same on the car too, because once the back motor has reached its max rpm, you are down to half power and at high speeds like the car is making, that makes a big difference to it. The car is very long and stable already, so it should drive fine. Maybe the project 205 mph car should be 6 feet long too :)

Nice - My (just turned) 3 year old son knows when he sees a Kevin Talbot Video on the youtube feed (he calls you Kevin Talbot now, but you used to be called "LOOK its the LONG CAR man!!!"). Scotty drives a 144002 & a Mini-z Jimny crawler and LOVES the long car. He gets excited when he sees any of the cars we have in your vids - that LC racing EMBT above your bench gets the most "look its your car" shouts (The EMBT gets daily summer use in our garden). Thanks for the LONG car work & don't leave it so LONG between videos :) One of your 3 year old fans is checking every day to see if there is more LONG CAR content

Try throwing a monster mgm system in that thing. I feel like the suspension needs to be a tad stiffer to really carry its weight above ground. Seeing how the zip ties helped a bit. Good stuff Kev. 👏

He answered this before. He wants to build multiple speed cars so he can travel 6 hours away to a runway thats smooth enough. If he brings one car and it breaks on the first pass, its a lot of wasted driving.

I know the whole point is it being the longest rc car but after you achieve 100mph with it you should try mounting it on a skateboard instead so it is more rigid and not bottoming out so much.

This thing is so cool. I bet you could lose a lot of weight by removing some material from the middle of the board. I'd do it a little at a time though. You wouldn't want to mess up the flex, and if you go too light it won't be as stable.

Depends on the build of the board as well, I've got a fiberglass longboard with a carbon fibre core through the centre, you could shave a lot of the mass, while maintaining the rigidity

I got flamed in the last speed video comparing these speed cars to AA dragsters but if you know, length=speed. There's a reason they are so long and the same principal applies to downhill skis too: length = faster. (and happier wives and girlfriends!)

The best RC car is the one that puts the biggest smile on your face. Right now I reckon this is the worlds best RC car!

Love this build I did something similar with my kraton 6s and more power is always better but you might of over geared it if the motors are really hot and then you won’t get all the speed out of it👍🏻

That Mikjuakee driver is so strong that even on the lowest setting it can easily strip things out. I use mine for some stuff though! The dreamt 8v gyro is still my go to!

you built this thing as more of a lets just see what happens type of thing but you ended up with a pretty epic rc rig out of the deal. this is one of my favorite rigs in your fleet for sure.

That's really cool. For your final run I reckon it will look cool painted like a school bus 😆 Also maybe try gearing the front and the rear the same, on the video if it looked like the fronts are slightly ballooning but the rear looks fine. The front will come slightly up with the weight transfer anyway so it's going to be faster speed regardless. So yeah I think gear tge rear up the same as you have the front and run both on 12S and you might get 100mph on grass. Looks super impressive especially on that rough surface it just flew over like it was nothing.

It's not the gears as he geared the rear higher. The issue with the front ballooning is the diff fluid is too thin in the front. He needs thike diff fluid to prevent ballooning. Since there is no center diff it's always going to ballon unless he really under-drives the front but then it will lose lots of top-end speed.

This crazy thing is no joke, but hilarious to watch. It just eats up everything. As others have said, I would buy something like this. Seems to handle quite well. A new genre of RC by Kevin Talbot.

Hey kev great idea. I dont think it needs rubber tyres on grass,3d printing a one piece rim and tyre will help balooning. Also larger diameter wheel would help ground clearance and gearing. Keeping the wheel skinny with big nobbys like a dirtbike will help with rotational mass and should still grip up. Just some ideas that might help.

When I saw the worlds longest rc car video I was blown away for how fast it went from when it was first made and now.

I can't believe how well it did in that rough field. This guy's builds are completely bonkers.

Never underestimate the impact of aerodynamics. A small improvement in aero equals a huge increase in power at high speeds.

long wheelbase = stable. I think that would probably be a good mod for the 200mph car as well, perhaps not with a snowboard, but something slightly more elegant. The snowboard car is hilarious, and suprisingly effective. Look forward to the up-powered version, more S's or just bigger pinions smaller spurs then? :D
