I'm not even sure I was alive when this video was filmed, but I still come back and watch this video every few months for that 19 pounder. Dang I wish they had HD video back then

@charles c They probably don't exist tbh. And if they did, they probably weren't stored properly. BUT that's the aircraft carrier of bass - it's dummy enormous. I hope that film somehow does exist.

There were several shows that hawked lakes in Mexico and Cuba back in the late 70s into the eary 80s and all we heard from the guys who fished them that the next world record largemouth was going to be caught there. A lot of money was spent by US anglers going to these waters and now well over 40 years later we're still waiting for that record fish.

All of these comments are by guys who didn't fish back in the 80s. the equipment was antiquated compared to today. If they werent filming that big fish would have just been a story. No Smart phone pics back then boys.

From the bank? Never from the bank unless we’re trout fishing in the Midwest. We have too many big reservoirs in Texas. For largemouth, we always used this contraption called a bass boat. Perhaps you’ve heard of these. 😂😂😂

It's a fish it's passed along it's genes...who cares ... You want to see how many 3 plus lb Bass I have caught and ate...I throw um back 5 plus cause they aren't near as good. Been doing that at Kissimmee lake for 25 years.... I have a place at camp Mack and fish out of there..... Can I spend about three months of the year there.... multi limts per day by 6 plus guys at times.... And the lake has been at its best ever way after I started fishing there and eating Bass..... You guys act ridiculous 🤣🤣 fishing tournaments kills more bass than anything.... Are you one of those tournament fisherman that cares about fish conservation especially Bass that you swing it over the rail, then it bounce off the windshield the rod locker and then finally bounce it on the floor a couple times for good measure.... 😂

If you've looked into recent research, keeping bass actually helps the fishery. Makes space for the next generation that hasn't felt a hook. Largemouth grow 2 lbs a year, best to give them space to grow

I think I would have released it if I didn't have a Polaroid and a scale but back then you killed the fish to have it mounted. He has all the rights in the world to do what he wants with that fish though. I cought a 17 inch crappie years ago on a senko. I transferred it to my buddies 20 Acer farm pond and no one has seen that fish since. Now it might have died or been cought by someone who didn't talk about it but there's no guarantee that bass would have ever been seen again if released. Lol but we know he won't be cought again after that ice bath lol.
