Without wishing to brag, the language barrier wouldn't be too difficult for me because I've been trying to learn the language and can recognise the sounds of the words (and their meanings) and some of the written stuff, especially since there isn't really any made up stuff (no Engrish supermoves, etc). It's just the process of playing the game. Kadokawa needs to expand to international audiences; they're just avoiding profits like the plague otherwise.

Unfortunately actually playing kancolle may be difficult for me based on the reason that I would have trouble coping when one of my little gummy bears gets sunk. It's one thing to see a picture of the aircraft carrier Zuikaku listing 45 degrees and her crew saluting the flag before the ship sinks, it's another to put all that into a singular face we are supposed to care about. To paraphrase a maniacal mass murderer, "One death [a ship girl] is a tragedy, one million deaths [the real life counterparts and the people on them] is a statistic."

I can't tell you how many hours or even days (cumulatively) I spent researching the RL ships based on snippets I got from the wiki page. They don't teach any of the interesting stuff in school, like how Kamikaze (a 1920 destroyer) managed to sink a modern 1940s submarine with no real ASW capabilities, or how Amatsukaze's captain wanted to retrieve her after the war but the Chinese scrapped her anyway, only for him to later become an Admiral and be given command of Japan's newest warship, the JMSDF Amatsukaze. As for the sadness bit, it isn't a constant thing. It's just... how to explain it...? I will happily laugh and play the game (assuming I figure out how to do it, stupid region lock) with all the waifus I could ever want, but the minute I would hear one of their death quotes (Kadokawa really made those quotes a little _too_ good IMO), I'd probably think "oh no, my QT3.14 just died! And she represented the [ship] that sank with [#] hands lost..." and be sad. Kind of like losing a character in a game where perma death is a thing (though obviously you can get a replacement for your ship girls with enough grinding).

there's a pretty good wiki for it, and if you use google chrome, KCKai is an extension that helps certainly. Once you know what each button does, though, it isn't difficult to actually play proper. As for avoiding shipgirl deaths, don't be a Kuso Teitoku and run them once they get their damaged CG, cut your losses and bail.

I normally don't comment on videos, but the editing in this was truly exceptional. One of the few videos that's made me laugh. Thank you, SRM.

This was by far one of the most random and awesome World of Warships montage video I have ever seen and it deserves an academy award. And that Senbonzakura remix is the best I've heard. XD
