Jingles remembers what it was in the past, 3-4 years ago only 1 turret was rotating 360.

Great one. And a battle that isn't over in a few minutes either. Props to K9transfer_1 for keeping his head on a swivel, dodging the enemy sub, the Marblehead and the New Mexico, killing them in short succession and - in a stroke of luck and mastery - avoiding the enemy's CV torpedo planes seconds after. One of the most satisfying maneuvers I've ever seen.

As a cruiser-main, I very much enjoyed this edition. I hope K9's back made a swift recovery from that carry.

Heck of a battle that! I reckon this episode should be in the carry harder series rather than game of throws tho.

interesting fact about the Konigsberg, the reason the rear turrets are offset is because of the shallow draft of the ship. If they were centred they would interfere with the propeller drive shaft.

@@SgtMclupus I prefer to lift with my legs... Means when I'm expected to carry, I can at least squat press out an extra battleship or three. Most of the time that's STILL not enough though lmao

I know I am not the best player, would never claim to be, but a couple things: i was training a captain on this match and didnt have a lot of skills, gun feeder being one of them. I knew AP wasnt going to damage the New Mexico but was trying to lure him into torps and also lost track of the marblehead and was expecting him to pop out at any second. As far as the carrier, i should have definitely switched to HE a lot sooner. I was looking at caps and trying to play smart and also trying to dodge CV drops at the same time. I realize i can improve but was proud of the way this one turned out...thanks jingles and condolences

So many times when I just kinda internally screamed to swithch to HE, but that onslaught of cits on the CV's was sooo satisfying.

Back in the day, I absolutely loved my Königsberg and also the Omaha, but especially the Königsberg. It was a great destroyer hunter. Haven't played for about 5 years, so whatever I saw probably doesn't have anything to do with today's game. Still, thank you for giving this nice ship some love.

You cant really hunt destroyers in this thing, unless the DD is an idiot. They will always outspot you, and you dont have a radar to force an engagement. Add in the fact that BBs are OP at these tiers, and you are gonna blow up soon after being spotted. All low- to mid tier cruisers are unfortunately shit in this game because WG doesnt know how to balance the game properly. There is unfortunately zero reason to play a T5 cruiser apart from wanting to play cruisers, because all other classes actually serve a purpose. Cruisers dont.

Listening to jingles while building a 1:350 scale prince of wales battleship is an evening I’m going to enjoy

@@Blueboat21 yeah deffo my friend, it’s been a MASSIVE pain but it’s turning out better than I’d hoped, like I’ve done the forward super structure mostly, just painted the secondaries. All I have to do is paint the parts before assembly and gluing, including the camo on the superstructure and hull as doing it when they’re all together will be more pain than anything 😂 still, can’t wait for it to be finished.

This was a pretty good example of how to T5 light cruiser, except for the choice of ammunition. He was frustratingly slow to switch shells when it was obvious his current shell was not the ideal one or even when it wasn't doing anything at all. Asides from that, pretty well done. All the major risks were pretty much necessary.

Always loved the KoneyDog and Nurnburger. Sure fragile but the gun arrangement taught me how to CL lol

as someone who has grinded the Hindenburg line several times, Konigsberg is where i really started to like the line. Konigsberg teaches you kiting, angling, and manuevering. Your so squishy that you need to be smart and you use these strats on the entire line. If you play correctly in Konigsberg you can easily do 70k-120k

I’ve always loved your world of warships videos but I’m craving more alien’s play through. I’m really invested in that now lol

thanks Jingle!!! what you said about why aircraft carriers have to die muhahahaa. K9, such an exceptional map awareness, every single move was calculated. turns out when you act smartly you also make your luck.

The Konigsberg is one of the ships I liked the most when I was still playing WoWS. Got it when there was that "mission" that gifted the ship to you if you sank 4 enemy ships in a single battle. The ship was hilariously unreliable when released, even HE near-misses could knock out your entire machinery, but it always had good potential for damage, and it rewarded your knowledge of the game... as demonstrated in this battle.

Regarding HE pen on light cruisers... They reworked that system years ago. The gun caliber USED to be divided by the caliber of the gun on those cruisers, but that's no longer the case. Light cruisers get a fixed amount of HE pen depending on the tier of the ship. That's why you find that the Atlanta for example has the same HE pen as any other equal tier light cruiser. However, German light cruisers are an exception to that rule, and they get a lot more pen. That's why the 180mm guns that you find on the Kirov and Donskoi don't have any more HE pen than their lower caliber/same tier counterparts, despite having bigger guns.

Ah yes, the Konigsberg, had a blast when I got it back then when the German cruiser line was still fresh.

Well done, a real risk v reward game, but if I'm picky some poor shell type choices.....i mean HE at a side on Omaha, lol and AP at a sub. But you carried and thats what matters. Excellent tactics. I have sent in a 10kill game in this ship to prove the worth of it for the T5 naysayers, didnt get a run. Its a fun ship and played well can perform with utility and ship setup, you have flown the flag for fellow Konigsberg fans.

As a Cruiser main i enjoyed this a lot. Ty Jingles :)

He didn’t have to aim at the superstructure.... serif has 25mm deck. And he had 37mm pen on those HE. So I really don’t understand that. But yeah, people don’t remember what ship has what armor and what pen they have.

Following your yesterday video, i looked what kind of shirt you were talking about. I seen one wich was sporting a sloth riding a llama surrounded by tacos and pizzas. Hilarious and outrageous!!

Konigsberg is probably my favorite T5 light cruiser - pretty ship, fast, very decent guns and torps (no armor, but what else is new) and as Jingles said very adaptable for escaping ships you should be running away from. (Most Kreigsmarine light cruisers were patterned after the WW1 "scout cruiser" concept: fast enough to roam ahead to find the enemy fleet, and with armament designed to engage as much as possible once you'd found them and were falling back on friendly forces. One of the (few) historically accurate capabilites WoWS reproduces in the game.😎)

I recently just had to delete all of my game files for world of warships for whatever reason and apparently i cleared over 250 gigs of data across 2 drives. Not sure what went wrong (I'm sure I was at fault) but I just can't bring myself to download the game again, very thankful for Jingles.

Yeah I noticed that too, but unfortunately the ribbon doesn't tell you which plane you shot down. It could be a spotter/fighter from an enemy ship, a fighter from the CAP dropped by the carrier or one of the attacking flight. The only time you ever know what type of plane you dispatched is on the results screen and even that only says whether it was in either a fighter, Dbomber. Rocket or Torp plane classification.

The days when ships like the Iowa and North Carolina with AA perk builds were floating no fly zones were simply glorious. Aircraft just fell out of the sky like confetti whenever they came within about 6km of me 🥲

I miss it a lot. Nowadays some DDS have stronger AA than multiple BBs close together. The dd having two or three AAA guns and a few 40mm midnrange guns, compared to BBs with many having over 100 AA gunbarrels, but those can't do anything... The Jinan I have found to be quite strong in AA. Shooting down t8-10 planes with ease if using defensive fire and having some buffs to AA. But other than that it's quite unimpressive. Have also had games with 75-100k dmg to planes and only shot down 20-25 of them... You target every single plane at the same time, so you can shoot off 10k health of a squadron and not take down a single fucking airplane

At this point, I think carriers have had regenerating bomber wings for longer than they didn't. At this point, I think replacement bombers are inevitable, but maybe we could have them respawn slow enough that killing them actually meant something? Maybe?

Always find it funny how people use the argument that you can't deplane a CV but they never mention how ships have infinite shells and torpedoes.

I'll grant you the torpedoes, very few ships had reloads for those. Shells on the other hand, most ships had more than enough to fire non stop from the start of the timer till the full 20min game timer. BB's had between 80 and 120 shells per gun and a best rate of fire of 2 shells per minute. Light cruisers carried up to 400 shells per gun, while heavy cruisers might carry 200. (Thus a Des Moines might be the odd ship that ran out - if she could keep _all_ her guns blasing for the full duration). Some of the DD's with really high rates might run out, they are smaller and rarely carried more than 300 shells per gun.

@@neogoterra Absolutely true. Especially for the destroyers and light cruisers with their DP armament where more than half could be shells for AA use. When the game came out, and most of the ships were real designs, limitations on shells would not factor in. Des Moines was in at launch and could probably run out of one type in practice, but it would be a rare game. For that reason I understand the simplification of not having realistic counts of shells. It would and will rarely be a factor, unlike in WoT where it does add to the gameplay.

7:41 "... and he shoots down _none_ of them". Plane which was shot down falls into the ocean...

So it occurred to me after watching the movie Hook for the first time in years...that during the next comic-con event or something he should go as Mr Smee and Rita as Hook...or at least someone as Hook...it would me amazing to see.

I love my Konigsberg so much it isn't funny. I've taken so many death rides on my K'berg that were surprisingly unsuccessful, with the occasional BONG sound of battleship shells somehow bouncing off.

Jingles you sound good despite it all. BTW Tissue-paper is not all the same!!

"Protected matchmaking" aka sensible and balanced matchmaking.

Jingles show he never played a single battle with carriers. Shooting down aircraft is literally matter. But hey, you also can say, shooting out the torpedo tubes permanently after the ship launch it's torpedoes to you doesn't matter. Well it matter in the long term. In the first wave shoot down a few planes "which doesn't matter" mean the next wave has less planes, and less, and at the end, there'll be only the attacking planes, and after that, the carrier has nothing, and literally just sit there and wait minutes to get back a few plane to be able to try to do anything. The "aircraft factory" only help carriers so they still have a spark of hope when they run out of planes, that later in the game MAYBE they able to do something and not just AFK the rest of the game. And it's funny that this happen during a video, where Jingles call someone clever who actually dumb enough to use AP shells on a Submarine instead of HE shells which actually could cause lot more damage, perma-fire and knock out ping torpedoes and half of the submarine modules with each salvo. Edit: The fact that the last 2 ship carrier also not bad news as carriers alone can't do anything. Cmon Jingles I want to see how you play a Carrier!!!!

Aa can actually work. In my Duke of York, I shot down somewhere between 40-50 aircraft and most were actual strike aircraft with only my aa as I soloed two enemy carriers (they were tier VI)

@@SupComRaiden2 I think Tier VIII is when they start getting stronger than the scaling aa imo; although, a good player can still stave off an overwhelming force from doing all of their attacks

I would say a CL player who hasn't learnt to not get shot by BBs would have a very long career getting to the tier 6.

Doesnt shooting down aircraft help stop multiple strikes?

Yes, but only a day. Wargaming about to increase the demand of salt by a significant magnitude with the addition of "minefeilds".

Well, to be honest about the "days when AA mattered": It sure did, CVs only had limited amounts of planes, but in return they were able to strike with as many planes as they liked. People tend to forget that CVs could cross-torp and one-shot same tier ships easily. Does anybody actually want that back? And yes, its not logical to "reprint" planes...but neither is infinite ammo or torps on ships, is it?

But you could also sneak up to them in a DD and kill them, while they were busy setting up crossfires and dealing with the enemy CV. Now they seem to outrun, outgun and outarmor you while autohealing. Maybe my memorie are just a bit distorted but, it felt like you could pull of more extreme stuff in games with a DD. Probably less radar and such too. It's been a while.

The Königsberg ran away away...and then it didn't. Edge of my seat stuff there, I don't play WoW...

That was an amazing battle, but he got all 5 of his kills while charging at the enemy. THAT is NOT the textbook way to play light cruisers, and will usually get you killed, as frequently demonstrated on this channel. This would fall into the category of “desperate times call for desperate measures”, “necessity is the mother of invention”, or “if it’s stupid but it works…”

Too far away for AP to be effective. Plunging fire wouldn't have worked either.

Mid-tier cruisers are/were always fun. Such a shame four spots filled with unbalanced trash have ruined the experience.

Fun fact: A Ranger can be citadel’d rather effectively while using HE with cruiser and battleship caliber guns. I’m almost certain he would’ve done more damage and been more effective at killing that Ranger given the citadel’s damage multiplier to his already tremendously effective 1/4 caliber HE.

Unpopular opinion, making unlimited airplanes makes sense if there is no limit to shells. You don't see the Harogumo running out of shells in 5min, why should CV's run out of planes?

It's amazing how many issues in WoWS and WoT could be solved by getting rid of +2 Matchmaking, but no. That'd make too much bloody sense.

You mean, aircraft carriers now have the same magical pixies making planes as make ammunition for other ships? I fail to see the difference. Planes are how carriers do damage, which is REQUIRED of any ship in the game. Before, they were the ONLY class that could be entirely disarmed with ease. Now, the field is level (though carriers STILL do far less damage per strike than anyone else).
