Nice review! I just got the Spitfire La, I don't know yet if is good, but it was the most advanced fighter of the Royal Air Force at the start of World War II and widely used in the Dunkirk operation and the Battle of Britain. So I feel like I already got my anniversary plane (but a tier V) 😀

My tip for the Spitfire Ia is to get its special pilot, Charles Donovan. It's ordinary without him, it can be a monster with him.

So basically same guns as Mustang IA. Seems to be same style of flying too. It's more maneuverable, but weak in the same way. It would be far more interesting if it had two engine equipment slots IMO. It's like this plane tries to be a Reppu, but fails. I might try setting it like my Reppu but what's the point?..

Yes, it's the same armament as the Mustang IA, but at tier 8 this definitely feels undergunned. I had the same thought about the engine slots. I would have preferred two there and only one on the airframe, but it's so sluggish, I'm not sure even an uprated engine and a combined injection/boost system would get it up to its advertised top speed under boost in level flight. Let me know what works for you on the plane when you get it and have flown it for a while.

Apparently somebody at WG copied the mission plan from P-51 Josephine and we get another 10 purple boost modules... I'm set up for life from previous marathon, but OK.

One thing I hadn't appreciated is that some of the grinds are helped by the special modes, which is perhaps why the grinds have been lengthened.

You can always put the universal or seasonal camouflages on! I think some will because they look better.

So it's a Spitfire XIV which is not a very good plane with crappy guns ?

Similar. It can be used more effectively in diving and slashing attacks than a Spitfire.

That's the best remaining use, I believe, but I have few pilots that are not highly skilled. That 10 million plus could be used to add skills to, at most, about 10 pilots, far fewer if they are already skilled. The cost for the later skill points is enormous.
