@@TheNobleQ 1 live battle tonight, all bots (NA server late night), so I don't know how it'll do with real humans on red or bottom tier. But I got the win easily (Road to Rome: Trap), 1 kill short of a Marseilles and 20 points short of an Akamatsu, but I did pick up Grade III and a McCampbell Medal. Not a bad start for me, especially since I've only played 6 battles prior in the last 2 months (busy RL stuff). I'm still open to tweaking the loadout if I run into problems, but so far I've enjoyed the Masha (with a really light trigger finger).

Got it thanks to your advice! Feels good to play, only the guns feel a bit weak (overheat quickly). Apart from that, it's a lot of fun for a good cause.

Just so; it can be a fun plane and the cause is, I believe, worthy. I'm glad my demonstration of the plane and its characteristics didn't lead you astray.

Watching your Twitch stream from today (Nov. 11, 2023) going from blowout wins to blowout losses is definitely a big problem for veteran players like us. What I've seen this year is that Wg is doubling down again on the extremes of the rng making blowout wins or loses more common. The reasoning I have heard (and I think you may have also stated this) is that Wg is getting more new players to drop money on game items much more than multi-year veteran players. Knowing that veteran players are much better verses new players Wg has to do something to keep the new players engaged long enough to buy something with real money and not just rage quit because a vet player has just shot the newbie down for the Nth time. This way new players can still get some wins against the skilled veteran players. Thus with "Extreme rng" making for many, many extremely lopsided teams it becomes a coin toss as to which team the dumb and blind matchmaker assigns you to as to whether it's an easy win or a frustrating loss. The other factor that I think is very unfair for Wg to be doing is handicapping a team differently from the other team in how much sector capture you get for shooting down a plane. For example, I can get anywhere from just under 25% sector capture points to over 50% capture points for a sector areal kill with a few mis-calculations thrown in where I get 0 capture credit for killing a plane inside the sector. That means if my team is getting I want to thank you for making your Sunday WoWp Twitch stream in your afternoon so that us American's can watch you live to get in the chat channel in the morning and not in the middle of our night and sleeping. Unfortunately for me, I have church duties as one of our tech team to set up the audio and video cameras (we live stream services via Zoom) and as such I leave at 8:00 am and don't get home until after 1:00 pm EST so I can't tune you in live. But I do want to acknowledge and thank you for accommodating the 4 to 7 hour time difference between England and the U.S.A. I'm still learning to properly fly my XF-90 and F-94D competently so if and when you get any time a video on them would be much appreciated. Now with the exit of Postal Monkey from WoWp video production do to changes in his life you are the only WoWp player left to carry the torch on showcasing planes. I gratefully appreciate your spreadsheet plane statistics analysis comparing the showcase plane to all others in it's tier and class. I know it takes significant time to produce a WoWp video and you probably don't get praised enough for your efforts to help the small but avid WoWp player community. You get 2 big thumbs up from me. Thank you.

I have no special insight regarding the WoWp team's thinking regarding what sort of battles they want in the game. Even if I asked, I doubt I would get a detailed answer. I do think it's a fair bet that skilful, time-served players are not their prime consideration, but I can't say for sure they are actively configuring the game to reduce the impact a skilful player can have; it just feels like it to me. I'd also love to know if there is a variance in how hard it is to capture a sector. The official line is that it takes 180 points (from memory) to capture an enemy sector (140 for a neutral sector) and that the points obtained from destroying objects in a sector don't vary, but it does feel that way sometimes, though in my case I tend to note my bots dying at rate that matches my attempts to flip a sector! I'm glad to be able to stream at least once to take in an American audience. I'll try to keep that up, despite the pressures of work on all areas of my life, not just streaming and video production. Duly noted on the F-94D and the XF-90, one plane I like a lot and one that I do not. I'll leave you to guess which is which! :)

That has to be the old WG company line regarding sector capture points. As of the current build of WoWp there is definitely differing amounts of % of sector captured per plane shot down per battle. There is even a difference from taking a red sector at the beginning verses taking back the same sector later in the battle. For example, I've captured C.C. by destroying the 3 ADA (each one is 1/3rd of the total) and then come back later to recapture it after it flipped red and only gotten just under 1/4th of the total sector capture. I've noticed of late that some sectors only give just under 25% per kill so it takes 5 planes destroyed to capture a red C.C. I even had a battle last weekend where I destroyed 1 ADA and the red circle went down by just over 50% so I captured it with only 2 kills needed. I was careful to make sure no other blue plane was in the sector with me to skew what I saw. I've even had weird times when I flew into a red sector by myself and before I could get in range of a target the 100% red circle magically went down by about 10%. Either the code is buggy (likely) or Wg is really screwing around with the rng to make for greater random volatility so new players can get in a few wins against the veteran pilots. Whatever the reasons this is happening it just makes for more frustration in battles knowing that I'm being handicapped to prevent me from using my skills and tactics to maximum effectiveness. It's not good for Wg to be doing this.

I think there's a good chance it will be made available again if WG decides to support United 24 a second time. It may be a long wait though.

I've had my Marsha since Wg had the 30 part mission to earn it a couple of years ago. I would definitely not buy it. I was able to get lucky and shoot down 9 light fighters the 1st time but no luck the 2nd time it came up so I had to use certificates and skip it to complete the 30 parts and earn the Masha. Even with the change to now only need 8 light fighter kills in a single battle that part is still hard to complete. So how many tries did it take to get a battle to use that didn't have any EF-131 bombers? Fortunately tier X isn't that bad for the NA server most of the time.

Outside of prime playing hours the overpowered bombers thin out. The problem then is having just one bomber on the opposing team, which is often hard to stop. I cannot speak for anybody else, but knowing the Masha as I do, I wouldn't pay a full tier 9 premium price for it. Given this is a charitable cause and the plane is being offered at a lower price than usual, I might consider it. However, it's as well to know that, though it can be fun to fly, it will rarely if ever dominate a battle on the EU server; probably not that many on the NA server either.

That was a softball battle so the win was never in doubt. The Masha is a very nice plane as long as you are very careful to not allow the guns to overheat (worse than my Spitfire XIV or Me P.1092). One aspect of the Antonov Masha that should be pointed out to others is that it's "supposed" to have quicker turning time when flying it at the low end or high end of it's airspeed range. In practical terms I never yellow or red line the airspeed so it is only a factor at low speeds. Overall it's a decent and fun plane to fly. If any player needs to generate silver coin this is a great plane to use. I routinely get > 200K coin per battle without premium time and with premium it's easy to get upper 300K and more per battle if you do well.

It's worth mentioning that the two tier 9 premiums do *not* attract the special tier 8 premium bonus, so nobody should expect to earn dramatically more from these planes than they do the tier 8s. I agree; it's a bit of a challenge, the Masha, but has enough going for it to be fun in everything except tier 10 OP bomber-spammed battles or battles where the enemy has a single tier 10 OP bomber and your team does not.

I'd buy a Tank on WoTs if one was offered.

I've lost touch with what happens in the WoT world. I dare say something is being done, but it seems it would have been fairly easy to offer a unique tank camouflage, even if it was on an existing vehicle.

Is this offer still available? How do I take advantage of it, get myself a Masha and help the Ukraine?

Unfortunately, the bundles supporting United24 were only available up to 1st November 2023. You can still help Ukraine by contacting United24 directly, but not through World Of Warplanes.

Antonov was originally founded in Novosibirsk Russia, by a Russian man named Oleg Antonov. Once again... Ukrainians try to take Credit for Russian accomplishments. Why? To your credit, the Anonov Aircraft company was moved to Kiev in 1952.

Probably it merits better than being left in the hangar to gather dust pixels, but it's not a front line plane either, so I understand that. I don't play mine much either.

Wow, 30 USD for a tier 9 reward plane. The main question can it reliably kill P-61 Black widow.

The problem with the P-61 is likely to be time to kill. You should be able to outmanoeuvre it, but the short overheat time on the guns will work against you and you could be taking fire from the P-61's turret. Approach with caution and be prepared to disengage - if you can. Personally, I'd only go for a P-61 that's heavily damaged or busy with other targets.

Indeed. They are tricky guns. They do good damage, but they're not the easiest to land and you need disciplined gun management.

This bird knocked me down yesterday 3 times in 2 minutes, making it impossible to enter its sector. To my credit, I used a slow Typhoon. I know using game money in war sounds controversial, maybe it would have been better to just give it to the civilian population. In any case, your work encourages us to continue flying every day and shoot down these "little birds"...

I think Wargaming has made considerable contributions to Ukraine directly. This is both a way to help players make a contribution whilst playing a favourite game and for the company to visibly show solidarity with their staff. Some of the WoWp team members are based in Ukraine. The Typhoon is a tasty snack for a Masha! I'm glad you like the content.

The civilian population in order to continue to speak Ukrainian needs arms and an army. My country Poland was at war with Russia for 124 years. That is how many years Poland was under Russian annexation .We know what war and Russification are .

So…having an M for quite a while…….not huge fan of 23s. Worst part…….can’t tell when the plane is upright. (Q corrected me….Imwas thinking of the Pogo)

There's no doubt the guns are tricky. I think the worst plane, for me, to orientate is the Pogo. I use the bank indicator to help me with that, but it's not really obvious enough.

I have noticed that on the EU server you have far fewer players targeting other red team players. Frequently you can ignore a human player and be safe to continue attacking the bots. Not so much on the NA server. Players are always targeting other human players first and foremost and if I ignore a human target I'm usually shot down very quickly.

That's likely to be true. I've often said the games are harder on the EU server because, almost paradoxically, the standard of play is lower. In this context, it means that players tend to be focused by other players less than you would expect. Also, there's the "shoals of fish defence against a shark" aspect to it, where it's harder to be picked out amongst a stack of human players.

@@Sslawek-lb9to I'm on the EU server mostly these days, but I've never had a problem logging into or playing in the NA server. There's plenty of Ukrainian and Russian chit-chat on the EU server. Regarding the NA server, the requirements are that you use a different account and you select the NA server when logging in (at the bottom of the login screen).

I'm sorry, the US just gave Ukraine 6 billion dollars and is supporting their economy. I'm not giving anymore.

@TheNobleQ I stand corrected, an article published October 4th, 2023 cited from the UK Parliment website listing countries that have contributed to Ukraine, indicated that the US has given 43 billion in aid thus far. This comment is in no way a sign of disrespect to the Ukrainian people who are fighting. However you raise an interesting perspective. If there was a begger on the street and you and a another man were passing by. If the other man gave the beggar $1000.00 would you still put $2.00 in the cup?

Which raises the issue of "is there such a thing as giving too much?". If it dries up future bequests, which are needed, then possibly "yes". I was aware the extent of the US's largesse was greater than you mentioned originally.

Then I may be minded to take your complaint seriously. I abhor the killing of civilians in any conflict, but in this regard, the Russians are considerably more culpable than the Ukrainians.

For context, here is an extract from the UN commissioner's statement in December concerning civilian casualties in Ukraine: "As of 4 December, my Office has recorded and confirmed over 10,000 civilian deaths resulting from the conflict since February 2022, including more than 560 children. A further 18,500 civilians have been confirmed injured, many of them severely. The true toll is probably substantially higher." This includes 142 documented cases of Russian military forces' extrajudicial execution of Ukrainian civilians. May I have your condemnation of that, @Sslawek-lb9to?
