Thank you very much for your update on the Xp-54. Your info is a big help for me to decide if I want to spend $31.47 USD to buy it. Well done. As of your last Sunday afternoon Twitch stream (Feb. 4) I have to say that there are many reasons that crashing out is justified. A few are: 1. Low HP and the squall line is only a few seconds away. 2. I've flown to the far corner sector, captured it, and it is quicker to respawn than have to fly back across the map. 3. I jousted with a more maneuverable plane but didn't shoot it down on the 1st pass and know I will be shot down so I can save time by crashing and getting a new plane. 4. I have on occasion been able to get a player locked on me so when I crash he can't pull out in time and also crashes. 5. On a 5 sector map with 2 mines and a center airfield, I always make a play for the far mine. Once I capture it if my team has captured the airfield it is a better strategy to immediately crash in the mine while it is still locked and respawn in the center with 100% hp. So you can see there are many valid strategic reasons to crash out and get a new plane. Only the newbie frustrated players or other crazy players that deliberately repeatedly crash out for no good reason should be reprimanded for not playing WoWp properly and wrecking the battle for others on that team. I do agree with you that the Daily missions that have "the battle results only count if you win" need to be removed from all of them. Wg reduced the quantity of Dailies a couple years back that had that requirement and that was a good thing. Now they need to remove that requirement for all dailies as the combination of "extreme rng" and the frequency of poor human players randomly assigned to the blue team such that even a very good player can't overcome the odds and win is frustrating to the max. We choose to play WoWp for fun and if Wg makes super lopsided battlefield conditions all the time that our playing skills can never overcome then the desire to continue to play diminishes. I prefer being rewarded for skillful playing over random luck any day but Wg doesn't see it that way and WoWp will never achieve a larger following as a result.

I'm glad you found the video helpful in your decision on whether or not to spend what is a lot of money for a pixel plane! The WoWp team is being decidedly reluctant to answer my question about what is, and what is not, acceptable regarding crashing your plane. I feel they're trying to catch the kind of troll that ruins a game by crashing on his own sectors, &c., and not those who crash for a tactical advantage. However, despite asking for it twice, I've yet to confirm that. The team does need to finish the work of reconfiguring the dailies so that the requirements are evenly balanced between tiers 1, 2 and 3. In fact, I'd like them to do more, but that seems unlikely in the current circumstances. The debate about match making (MM) will never go away. The problem with skills-based MM is that it reduces variety, the problem with variety is that it produces unwinnable games. Where you sit on that continuum probably depends on how skilled you are! That said, there are some clear changes that could be made to improve things, such as reducing the number of bombers that can load into a single battle at high tiers.

Not the specific aircraft, but it ranged across all the classes.

I bought it and I don't regret the purchase. It still performs well enough in the heavy role but for me it was more of the asthetics then the stats

I'm glad you're not disappointed. I think the WoWp team achieved their aim of keeping it as a good plane.

It’s tough to counter but I’ve gotten it a time or two in S-199, F4U-1, Spit V DB 605, possibly Ki-102. I wonder about the Me 410’s ability to counter it since I’ve never flown that plane. Since it’s so strong, guys don’t always play smart in it either.. sometimes true of the P-61 also and occasionally you can out-think them. Not often enough though, I’m afraid.

You summed it up perfectly there. Being easy to fly, players with a wide range of abilities flew the XP-54 and sometimes you could exploit the technique of less experienced players, but sometimes you got stomped by a good player. Unfortunately, I can see all of that still being true even after these changes. The plane is a little bit more difficult to fly, but I believe not significantly enough to stop it from being a strong plane and a player favourite.

Unfortunately, we'll never know now. This isn't much of a nerf, in my opinion, and maybe your suggestion would have worked better.

Said many times in the company of clan mates that I hoped that if they ever changed anything, this would make a perfectly good Tier 7, and that i had hoped even then that they wouldn't alter it.. but alas... @@TheNobleQ

Was one of the main reasons I quit playing the game was fighting against this thing. It was such a busted plane.

Yes, unfortunately it was the first of a few reward/premium planes that have entered the game and made it unpleasant for people grinding stock tech tree aircraft.

I was going to buy this plane but now I wont! This nerf will cost them sales

The WoWp team doesn't want this plane to be an easy killing machine. Unfortunately, I don't think they've gone far enough with these changes and it will remain a formidable opponent. The wider issue, that of turning the game into one where the strong content is not the tech tree planes but these reward/premium ones, is an argument lost long ago. I dislike the approach and always have, but I wonder if we would have a game at all if this hadn't happened.
