My biggest mistake was believing some advice from a Unicum. I asked him how to get better, and he told me I need a better tank. So I bought an E25 having only played Tier 2 up to that point. And spent the next 1000 games being killed inside 30 seconds. Then someone suggested watching QB videos... Now I can last 45 seconds. Yay me.

Thanks. Now I have over 4000 games in it, I'm quite good. What is fun though, is that my stats for the E25 are awful (43% WR, 478 WN8) - but I'm actually playing more like 52%, 1100 - stat camo is a hoot, I never get XVM targeted.

One of mine was thinking the Tiger would be matched up against tanks it fought against in WW2. So I rushed up the line thinking it was gonna be a big bad tank like it was in WW2. Boy was I disappointed.

i played the game before there was a tutorial (or i just mistook it for the garage guide that existed, it was supposed to teach you how to research tanks and modules and stuff) and i didn't know how to shoot enemy tanks. i mean, i knew that LMB was fire, but i didn't know what to aim for. i kept aiming at (and shooting) the icons above the tanks (heavy tank, light tank etc.) until i finally met an enemy tank in close quarter combat and saw the vehicle itself and then saw that there is an outline around the enemy vehicle when i aim at it.

I didn't know how to research tanks till 30 games had passed and a friend told me I'm very dumb....

the first tank that I really wanted to get was the t28, that was because I saw 2 smaller gun turrets at the front and thought I would get 3 guns. let's say it didn't really go as I thought it would.

the biggest mistake i have ever made as a noob was at the moment i realised HE shels have more dmg than standard so i just replaced all my standard ammo with HE... it took me 3 full weaks to find out obout penetration mechanics. lol

One of my clan members did not notice, that he could use topdown view in his arty until he got up to T4^^ He aced his Wespe the same way you tried to play your tanks. He was always confused how his arty friends were able to fire from that far away... ^^

In the start (and a bit later) : 1) I loaded full HE, didn't know what penetration was even at tier 7 (with the french heavies back in early 2012) 2) I went up the french heavy line as my first line 3) Got up to tier 7 with German arty (still regret that) 4) I had a Personal rating of 830 after 4500 battles 5) Almost got banned for TK (forever ban) 6) Left the game for 3 years or more 7) I had a 44% victories 8) Max tier was 7 9) I had like 35% hits 10) I was 9 years old (I think) 11) Back then if you just stayed AFK all battle it did not take away the few credits and EXP you got, so I did that 12) Had like 54% crew 13) Didn't know how spotting works 14) My username was my hotel's name (still is) 15) Had no clue how to read or speak english 16) Had a shit laptop 17) I didn't seem to notice that there was the flag of the tanks in the game up to my -probably- 400th game and thought the French were the Soviets 18) I didn't know the maps 19) I had WoT in Greek (I'm Greek) There might be more but I don't remember.... Now I am at 9182 battles (same acount) and I have a Personal rating of 3,766 (not great but it more that quadrupled in double the battles). And I am at tier 9 (still not great). I have expanded in almost all the tech trees (R.I.P. China and Czechoslovakia). If not for my first SHIT 4500 battles I'd have a PS of like 5500..... Oh and F*CK arty with the Japanese heavies :P

when i played this game first, i was choosing the guns by penetration like: AP/APCR(HEAT)/HE and i was thinking that the first number is the pen in the front of a tank, the second is the pen on the sides and the last number is the penetration in the back of a tank xD .... such a weird think XD

You know, that's why I don't get angry with players who try and don't succeed. It takes some time to learn the game. And even now we still are learning new tricks to the game. Thanks to Jingles and QB we're able to learn some new moves and how our tanks work. So some of you may need to consider that if someone is struggling, don't criticize. Encourage them. :)

That's why it would really help to have a MM that actually gathers people with similar experience. No green-red teams would mean less toxic behaviours. It's natural to feel frustrated when you're an experienced player teamed with a bunch of noobs who don't know what's going around them. And it's natural, too, to feel bad when you're a red player being killed by an unvisible, skillful unicorn on a premium tank with premium consumables.

My biggest mistake was dismissing my crews, and training a brand new one (from 50%...) to save credits.... Hindsight is 20/20 they say

i used to think crew didn't matter much, I would get a new tank as quickly as possible and I would just get a 50% crew no matter what

Back in the day it was less noticeable as there were no crew skills like Brothers in Arms or Sixth Sense. I made it to tier six or seven before I got a crew to 100% (I think my first was the M6. If not, it was the T29)

Yes, everyone was noob when they started playing. I have some good games but mostly shit ones. I think some people forget it is a team game and each tank has it's own role to play. A noober will just go off and do his own thing, not looking at the map, not listening to team messages etc. My first error was to try and take on heavies by myself and think that just firing at them as quick as possible will do it and then wondering why I died a lot. It wasn't until I started watching youtube vids and learning about pen, weapons and areas of tanks that are heavily armoured that I realised it's not a straight run of the mill rush in and kill everything. The other thing I found is that as I have got older (I started 'gaming' in the late 70's), my reaction times are getting a tad slower too so I have to take that into consideration. I don't give a damn about stats myself, you can have your good days and you can have your bad days. Stats, are worthless in the grand scheme of things. I also went from console gaming to PC gaming and don't have a dedicated desk to sit at so most of the time i am on the floor, keyboard on my knees and mouse on the sofa. Ideal? No is it feck but that's how I want to play. So I expect my gaming to not be great. BUT, I am having fun and that at the end of the day is what it should be about.

Bit of a correction there, there is a difference between a newbie and a noob, a newbie is someone with little experience, they should be taught and encouraged, a noob is someone that actually has a lot of experience, but hasn't really learned from it and considers himself an expert, refusing any advice and rejecting criticism. Or at least that used to be the lingo in my early days of Quake 2 multiplayer, maybe this concept got forgotten.

The main thing that I needed to overcome was aiming centre of mass, and hoping to pen. Shell deflections are not really a thing in low tier fights, so I had to learn to aim for specific weak spots on the higher tier vehicles. AT 2 drivers probably laughed at me.

I was actually quite lucky since after playing one game without any clue of how to play it, I asked help from a couple of advanced players. The sat behind me, put me playing tier1 match and taught me the basic controls and tactics, how to shoot behind obstacles and take cover for reloading, how to do angling and sidescraping, etc. Unfortunately we didn't get so far as into game mechanics and purpose of different type of vehicles. After getting into tier3 I got into problems because I was facing tanks that I couldn't penetrate. I had seen an old KV-1 in a museum with a hole between its hull and turret so I thought that it must be a weak spot in World of Tanks as well. And I was destroyed countless times while trying to face two tiers higher heavy tanks frontally. After getting into tier4 I started to realize how to play with light tanks and that realism and World of Tanks do not belong into same sentence.

if HE shell doesnt penetrate the armour it does half damage minus the effective armour value. If you have a shell that has 50 pen and does 400dmg HE and you fire at say Tiger 1 , 100 armour value, your shot will do 100 dmg to the tiger. If your shell does 200 dmg it will do 0 against 100 armour The higher the damage the more damage HE will do even if it doesnt penetrate. Usually this is only a good tactic with shells of 900 dmg and above. lower damage HE shells are used to knock out tracks instead of a main weapon.

Stay in your comfort tier for the moment till you get the feel of the game. Tier 5 is a good tier to learn. Grow thick skin as some of the players you will meet are quite toxic. Avoid confrontation and be understanding as they will sometimes bait you to turn yourself blue( PK ). And just enjoy the game. Pissed? Anxious? take a break...as long as you need to. The Mighty Jingles has always advised not to play if you are in a negative mood.

For a while, I was stuck on the T29 until I stumbled into tier 8 T32. Now I feel as though the lessons I haven't learned before I'm learning now. Harshly. But thanks to QB and Jingles' videos, I have tools I can look back on to see how and where in maps I can utilize my tank the best. This is just one of those games that I haven't seen the player base drop and a game that I really enjoy the physics and strategy. Thank you for the support QB!

I remember my first game in my tier 2 russian arty. It was in himmelsdorf, I was standing behind the building and I didn't know how to switch to strategic mode. Lol :) Now I am an arty PRO!

Almost a kolobonov medal. 11:13. I got mine back when physics first came out in the full metal French duck. That little tank holds a special place in my heart because of it.

Loved it. Such a charming fun presentation. My issues were total ignorance how how crews can move up the same country tiers. Just figured that out. Had no idea crews could get multiple skills and what each skill does. Got a long way to go as I continue to rank in the bottom third of my teams even now.

I’ve started the game on PC today, after 46k battles on WOT Console....the hardest thing is adjusting the plethora of settings! AND I’ve not even looked at the legitimate Mods available. And swapping from a controller after 20+ years with a controller is a culture shock! Just completed boot camp so onwards and upwards! Thanks for your videos, learned a lot over the last few months. Masterful! I am so far from that proficiency that I felt like I was driving each tank you fought. Their defeat felt so familiar to me.

This is like a David vs. Goliath match. In one match you did as much damage as you did in your last 43 matches. Good job!!

I started off playing World of Tanks blitz first because it really helps you find weak spots and ways to use your armor well. I'm still starting off on PC though, but I've been doing well with all I've learned from Blitz.

QB, nearly dropped my beer when you said that you thought the number, accuracy wise were better, so you took all the derp guns. XD

Biggest mistake was charging into an open flat, finding myself trapped by 7 tanks around me on the hills, with no mates around

I use auto aim in my crommy more than anything. I average 1000 damage no matter the MM. Auto aim really depends on the tank and how you drive it.

I've played wot for 3 years on console and only figured out higher is not better 5 months ago. Everything I know now is from this channel, started watching a week ago and I've already greatly improved.

Tbh i just rage quit when i try arty or tank hunter and my team ignores light tanks wich then flank n kill me and we lose the match

The thing that helped me the most was good, bad and ugly series from jingles. Thats where i learned to side-scrape and turn the turret to hide the mantlet

Hey QB. like many, I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning of my world of tanks that I can look back on now and I just shake my head. one of the funniest and worst things that I started doing when I first started playing World of Tanks was a bunch of Team kills. it's not that I was killing team members thinking that it was funny, it was that I literally thought that it was more of a free-for-all match and it started everybody right next to each other. so thinking that it was like a free-for-all match as soon as the timer went off I just started shooting. I'd say the saddest part about it is that it took me probably about a hundred battles or so to figure it out.

I did the same thing in my first fight ! Shooting my team because i only saw them. But, fortunatelly for everybody, i didn't know i can get out of the game when my tank is destroyed and i just looked at the game. And, at some point in time, there was some new tanks with red on top :D And i was.... Aaaahh, i have to shoot the reds.... :DDD

My noob mindset was "Much armor ftw - if I will have crapload of armor I will live longer." Now my favourite tanks are paper-thin ELC AMX and Hellcat. ...and of coz T29 :D My win/loss ration on XONE is 56%

Back in the early days armor was actually worth something, now if you take a MAUS into a game everyone fires gold at you, even tier 10 TDs and autoloaders.

Thanks for posting this QB. I'm just getting started in World of Tanks and am hopelessly lost at times. I'm working the American tech tree with the M5 Stuart and M3 Lee so it's a grind, at least with M3. I definitely feel like a noob.

M3 Lee is the worst tank in blitz because it can only pen some tier 4 and does meh damage to tier 3

WoT has a steep learning curve cause of the spotting mechanics, totally artificial and counter intuitive, but there's also the absurd advantage 6th sense gives. We suddenly become decent around tier 8 when we finally reach that BS. Idea - show us high tier matches without 6th sense where people dominate!

Lowe tiers are the most fun! One of the mistakes that I made as a knob (and still make sometimes) is thinking I an isolate an enemy tank before I have counted all of the enemies. Nothing like flying around a corner and running into four red heavies.

When I was starting tr game I thought that HE shells can destray all the buildings in the map and I can baisicslly destroy alk the things on the map :D

Is it fair to say you will only become a good to ace player on WOT if you have a premium account?

I just got my first MOE last week, Ram II. This is also the first tank to get a Mastery badge. Good stuff.

What I hate, is NOOB haters, people who go out of their way just to piss you off. I know you feel like pulling your hair out when you see someone playing like shite, but that is a reality. People forget that there will be noobs on both sides of the fence and more experienced players benefit from noob opponents.I have had so called team members check my service record and then hang shite on me before my gun is loaded at the start of the game.... sheesh. Some people really need to get a life.

I used to think that the tank class symbols on the map told how experienced a player was. This was I think 8.2 and my garage consisted of all the tier 1s and the Cruiser III. Because the Medium I was the only medium in my garage and I had the most games in it, it only made sense that the symbol for the Medium I was a diamond with two bars because I was more experienced in it while all my other (light) tanks were just a solid diamond.

I am a noob now. Just dipping my toes into the WoT water for the first time. Enjoying your videos and learning as much as I can.
