    Did you all catch the tiny sound that went along with Laurent's spin? Larry's gesture toward him when he spins hits it too. Aaah I've only watched this 20 times and I'm still catching things! *joking/not joking ;D

    It's like a little double bass hit, very subtle but as always they hit it. The only way I heard it was listening to TNewtz mix of it, because it's JUST the music with the video, AKA no audience. Nice catch on your first watch.

    Yes for some reason it I didn't fully realize it until I watched it again right after this lol. I did know the neck breaking was directed at Kyle, but I didn't realize how Laurent's footwork was tap until after. Good eye!

    Tap dancing is a lot of foot working. That is one of the reason the twins picked him. The twins can dance anything, so people saying for them to stick with hip hop makes no sense. In that 1 minute and 37 seconds that danced more than one style.

    I feel bad because Laurent's footwork with his "mock" tap caught my attention more than Kyle's whole performance. I need to watch his again. I think it makes total sense to take on someone outside of what they're familiar with, and also to save the most formidable opponents for the final battles (and knowing how network TV works, they may not have even had the option to pick a higher scoring opponent).

    So is the story here that Lau is the master and Larry his puppet and the end is the student killing off his master? Thats the beauty for me. Watching many times but still feeling like you missed something.

  • @ReplayMae

    Yes I totally agree! That's what I wondered too, and for the part when Larry is standing over Laurent, I thought it seemed like Larry was controlling him, but when he turns over it seems like Laurent is still in control. When they do things like this I end up watching over and over trying to soak it all in. Love it. Thank you for your thoughtful comment!

    I know people keep mentioning Kinjaz, Jabbawockeez and Fik-shun as being their real competition. I need to watch all their performances and see how I feel about that lol

  • @ralukshik

    @ralukshik

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes both Kinjaz and Jabbawockeez are good dancers with good choreo but i can't feel them you know. Les Twins are pouring their hearts out in a dance routine, they are exciting to watch, they are true entertainers and their biggest plus is the fact that they are twins. The synchronicity and the lightning reflexes it's something that the others doesn't posses, at least not the ones from this competition. Oh and regarding Fik-shun, i think he's pretty much repetitive lately. Again, i think he is a talented dancer but he got stuck in his style and that can be a downfall for any dancer.

  • @ReplayMae

    @ReplayMae

    7 жыл бұрын

    Has Fik-shun had a new performance yet since the qualifiers? Is his style popping or New Style in general (or something I don't know the name of)? I really believe the hardest thing about this show is judging different styles against each other. It's fine if Fik-shun sticks to one style so long as, like you said, he doesn't get repetitive. But how do you compare that to Les Twins who can literally use any style they want, whenever it's to their advantage? Ugh I don't know but I'm really curious to see how this plays out!

  • @ralukshik

    @ralukshik

    7 жыл бұрын

    I guess you need to watch some Fik-shun performances and see it for yourself. I am not good at explaining stuff. Mostly is a combination of animation, popping, hip-hop new style. Oh but Les Twins got repetitive too, especially in battles, to be honest competitions like this one where they got a routine together benefit them the most. There was a new performance last week between Fik-shun and Nick Daniels that you need to see.

  • @ReplayMae

    @ReplayMae

    7 жыл бұрын

    I'll definitely check it out! Les Twins do get repetitive sometimes for sure in battles. I think people forget what creative choreographers they are, so I'm glad they're getting to let that side of them shine :)

    i didn't really get much from kyle, and it's not cz he was tap dancing at all... in fact i love tap dancing.. i just felt like kyle's was a bit under the bar from some amazing tap dancing i've seen... i'm not saying he could've beaten Les Twins, but if he'd jezzed it up enough, he totally would've given them a run for their money... but still would've lost though, cz like halo.. it's Les Twins' world and we're all just living in it :-)... and you probably won't see death drops and all the crazy stuff Lau does cz he messed up his knee during WOD

  • @ReplayMae

    @ReplayMae

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes I am going to watch Kyle's again in case I missed something but honestly Laurent's "mock" tap dancing caught my attention more than Kyle's whole performance. Kyle shouldn't have used a song with so many tap sounds in the back ground. It actually would have been really cool if he could have slowly become the drumming/tapping in a song, and really let his dancing stand out. But he'll learn from this and grow hopefully :)

    ReplayMae oh boy where do I start? First off, I shouldn't be surprised by anything they do by now. However, they still surprise me like Larry doing flares for their qualifying round. Larry loves to say "you're not ready" you are correct sir! I loved it but only after watching it 6X B2B you have to do that to catch everything and still might miss a move. I didn't get the whole neck thing until the 3rd time. lol a little slow on the uptake....lol Jl's reaction was classic. Then at the end, as you know they spoke to les twins. Larry in his most modest state, said something to the effect, that he did good but he got beat by the best dancers in the world. lol Me and you think alike. I noticed that neither one of them did a signature move YET!! I love them....

    ReplayMae did you hear ppl saying the twins are cocky? like that dwts dude said your confidence is borderline off putting?? He's a ballroom dancer who would need to be more confident? Derek doest know but they have been at this for a LONG time........more than half their lives. They still lose battles I was annoyed with him. I love how they look you in your face and eyes and know they will kill you but hug once its all over. Also when the twins did that move after the twerk lol that african dance move, I was so tight but they cut to NEYO in the middle I'm like I don't want to see him...UGH they move so face as it is...

    Yeah on the one hand I love to see the judge's reactions but on the other-Stop Cutting from the twins! lol They need to do a split screen like us awesome youtube reactors ;D I think for a show like this, their battle confidence isn't like anything people usually see. If it was on MTV or BET then I think people might expect it, but on NBC it might come across as cocky to regular viewers who don't know how battles work. I'm honestly glad that Derek got the chance to address it and say that level of confidence is necessary when a million dollars is at stake-I think it probably helped people understand it if they were bothered by it. AND I loved how JLo rushed to their defense! I wish they had included the judging in one of these clips so I could have reacted to it, but I found it after I made this.

    Oh I think you're right! I know I've seen clips from that video but I don't think I've seen the whole thing. And yeah, the song was "Deep in the Bottom (of Africa)" by Monique Bingham so I think it's safe to say there's African influences lol

    Newkirk lost at the start ! 1 - He tap danced on a trap song with a classical tap dance style. First it wasn't adapted to the song, it is obvious it was not his music genre. Plus he didn't dance to the music, he just used it as a background to show is moves. Second, Don't use classical and average style against two unpredictable dance beasts. They are two unique tuse classic tricks against them ! 2 - Les Twins were born, grown up and ruled the place in dance battles ! Battle is their house, their home, they know all the protocoles...but Newkirk came with anaverage dance competition attitude. Deadly wrong, Les Twins was back to their mean roots !

    I'd honestly love to hear your opinion, I know I didn't fully grasp Kyle's performance even though I like tap dancing in general. Are you a fan of tap dancing or Kyle?

    ReplayMae tap. I feel as if there is more technique required for tap. I feel like Kyle spent more time in his life perfecting his technique in tap.

  • @ReplayMae

    Oh I definitely agree that tap is more technical. It's hard to compare, since Les Twins have been dancing longer (simply by being older) and they are able to utilize so many different styles. Kyle has definitely worked for a long time on the individual style of tap. I don't remember if people attribute the creation of New Style to Les Twins, but they are definitely pioneers of it (and if you count "Twins Style" as a style, they created that). Kyle worked so hard and I definitely hope I didn't insult him or his fans, or fans of tap. I just couldn't feel as much of his performance. I honestly didn't even catch the trick toss and spin he did with the stick until the replay during the judging (which was a combination of my poor attention but also him not keeping my attention). If I had been watching tap for as long as I've been watching hip hop & New Style dancing I could have done him more justice. I wish Kyle had picked a different song for his performance also, it wasn't always easy to hear his steps, which is so important, and the song even had sounds that were similar to tap steps. It would have been really cool if he had let his steps be the drums in a song or something like that. When you aren't able to properly hear his tapping, it looks like a lot of stomping. I think if he can work on the rest of his body movement, his footwork and technique are definitely on point. And just so you're aware-I'm not a dancer and do not claim to be any kind of authority on this. I just watch a lot of videos (not just the ones I react to) and this is what I felt as a viewer. I can come up with things that the twins can improve on too, so please don't think I'm picking on Kyle :) Thank you for your comment, I have no problem having discussions about these videos!
