BYD was mass producing electrics cars 5 years before tesla, as tesla at the time was just putting batteries into lotus car shells. Tesla only makes 4 car shapes (cybertruck is not mass production yet) BYD has everything from a micro car to trucks, vans, pickup truck, large trucks and buses. 3 million is both plug in hybrid and EV so a bit misleading but did make 1.7mil pure EVs and has only just started exporting 20months ago. I have driven and tested and ordered the BYD seal dual motor which does 0-100km in 3.8s (its actually 3.6 as i have tested) in Sydney, Australia it is a much better car than the tesla and $27k AUD cheaper than the model 3 tesla dual motor.
