Safey Smith I think it should be based on something that is plausible, not so far fetched you feel like you are looking at a joke. Like I can see England, having a mixed Norwegian culture if William fails and Harald wins. And Iberia falling completely to Islam would be hard to see happening. The whole Christian world wouldn’t because that means France would fall too, and the Pope would not let that happen. So the Crusade would be in Iberia and not in the Holy Land.

Great video K&G, as always! It would be great to see such snapshots of history from other years as well. A small correction for Hungary: the first christian king of Hungary was St. Stephen I (the first), not the second, for obvious reasons, crowned in the year 1000. One of the national holidays of Hungary the upcoming August 20 celebrations commemorate this event. Stephen still had "pagan" name, Vajk. The conversion of Hungary to Christianity was a bloody affair leading to brutal civil wars but it ultimately contributed to the preservation of the kingdom, unlike other steppe-warrior conquerors that didn't make this move, like the Huns or Avars.

The Hungarian-Polish-Croatian rise is to me the most fascinating in this era. Because we are all bombarded by the English/French/German, and muslim history all the time via tv shows or youtube, but no one digs deep in the central, and easter europe. How the heck did the small Polish, and croatian tribes manage to withstand the onslaugh of everyone and even have a kingdom at that time...lol

Search on internet for document known as "Pacta conventa", where Hungarian king granted all previous rights and privilegies to Croatian noblemen. And Pavao Šubić, in year 1300, was ban of Croatia and master of Bosna (ban Hrvatske i gospodar Bosne) with its own metall-coined money; he brought new dinasty of Anjou from Napoli (Naples, Napulj) to the Hungarian throne. Also, Croatian Parliament elected independently in january 1527 in Cetingrad Ferdinand von Habsburg as a new king (there is existing document with this decision) , opposite to Hungarians who elected Johannes de Zapolia (Ivan Zapolja) for king. Croatian Parliament and autonomy was untill the 1918. But, after king Aleksandar Karađorđević was killed in 1934, regent Pavle understood that he had to make an agreement with Croats (Sporazum Cvetković-Maček) in 1939 (banovina Hrvatska within Kingdom of Jugoslavija). And so, while all Srbija was under Turkish Osmanlic goverment (15th to 19th century), Croatia had its own Parliament and autonomous rights. Many castles from northern Croatia built by Croatian noblemen (as Trakošćan, Veliki Tabor and so on) wittnes about prosperity and culture. Croats and Polaks are only two Slavic people with renaissance and baroque literature (Marko Marulić Marulus, the father of Croatian literature /1450-1527/, epic "Judita"; Ivan Gundulić, epic "Osman" and so on ...) During that time, Srbia was only reduced to be a province (pashaluk, vilayet) of Turkish Empire ... and there was no European culture in Srbia untill the 19th century ...

As for norman's culture in 1066, at this point in history, they had strictly nothing in common with danes or norses of the "vikings" age (language, religion, architecture, way of life, warfare, social organisation, everything in Normandy was radically different from Scandinavia but common with other french duchies/counties) Fun fact : Harold Godwinson was far more "viking" than William, through his danish mother (William's mother was simply a local commoner).

I think it meant that it was meant more towards ethnic based violence as ethnic Jews are in the same race as other ethnic European/Middle Eastern groups.

I'm never one to subscribe, like or comment but I did so this time because of how much I liked the video. I'm an eu4 fan but that's not what brings me here. I've enjoyed your content for years but this type of format is the best I've seen so far. Keep it up!
