World Class METAL TONES without the VINTAGE 30! (feat. Omega Ampworks)

Музыка

German producer Kristian Kohle (Aborted, Powerwolf, Hämatom, Eskimo Callboy, Van Canto, Benighted) is showing how to properly mic a guitar speaker for a killer metal tone!
Today we're using the OMEGA VM-1265 guitar speaker an SM57 and two great dynamic mics from LEWITT audio!
I have received the speakers and the microphones free of charge from Omega Ampworks and Lewitt Audio. This has no influence on my review. I decide wether I review a product or not and I am free to praise or criticize the product. I usually just send products back if I don't like them.

Celestion G12M-65 is my weapon of choice. I also hate the G12T-75. In the beginning of this video I kind of liked the Omega but it started to remind me of a G12T a little bit. Have you tried modding a 57 by taking the transformer out. The 3.7kz sizzle is gone and you can actually mic from the center of the cone again.

Providing killer alternatives to the V30, integrating amp sims, looking into new distortion/overdrive tones, highlighting amps that aren't necessarily well known... Is there anyone else doing as much as Kohle when it comes to pushing the limits of the modern metal tone? We honestly owe this man a debt.

I used a Behringer V-Amp as (like) a preamp and going in a tube power Amp and 1 or 2 90ies Laney 4x12. Amazing results, with 57 but even more amazing with both cabs miked with 2 low budget ribbon 8 mikes. It's at least 50% about just doing and trying out and not following rules. 🤘😈 Cheers und danke!

Those tones are just insane. The Granophyre is my favorite Neural plugin right now. Just bought your IR pack from Eminence. Gonna have a lot of fun with it next weekend. Did I understand correctly there's another IR pack on the way?

Awesome! And yes, there's another pack on the way containing a lot of speakers from different companies. So this one will not be released by Eminence. Stay tuned. It's coming in less than two weeks!

I tried buying the Lewitt MTP440 today from your affiliate link. However, the shipping to the US was a 1/3rd of the cost of the mic itself, so I found a cheaper route. If I can support you another way, I will certainly look to do that.

I have an Omega cab. They're SO good. Really. Just really awesome cabs. I use 112 cabs, so I wish their speaker design handled more watts. BUT, I think the Emi V128 will work at least similarly in my next cab.

Me hearing the DV77 for the first time on your channel: I need this thing! It will blow my mesa V30's away! Me hearing the VM1265 on your new video: fuck the DV77, I need the VM1265!! That "woody" character is just marvelous! Would be interesting to hear a comparison between a Mesa V30 and the VM1265!
